  1. cool. thats what i was hoping. FL requires it as a way to mitigate the scammers taking advantage of the "snowbirds" and alot of scams were going on after most any hurricane season.
  2. i used to live in florida and it was required to have a handyman license to do most anything as far as helping people out and making some money. i have been doing some flooring jobs for people recently as i used to do it professionally and also have some electrical experience. i was thinking about branching out into general handyman stuff and seeing how it goes. does TN require such a handyman license? if so how would i go about getting one?

    Job leads?

reviving this from the dead hopefully. Guns and Leather in Greenbriar has started another thread looking for help also.
  4. i tried to do a search and came up with nothing on them. do you have contact info?
  5. id suggest getting a MilSpec and having it built to your specs. i am starting with a Stainless Springfield Armory Mil-Spec that i just picked up. its not a Commander size but they do make the GI in a "Champion" which is SAIs Commander.

    Come on baby,

there are alot of variables as to what barrel twist shoots best in each caliber. the one i have more familiarization with is the Armys M24. its a 11.25" twist and was designed around shooting the 175gr SMK bullet. i have also shot a personal build in .308 that was a 1:12" twist and it did great with 168gr and 175gr bullets, as well as a couple M1As with 1:10" and 1:11" twists. they seem to do better with the 150-168gr bullets. to effectively get out to 1K repeatedly, id suggest a 175gr bullet or a bit larger to get the stabilization out that far. i know there are others out there that can get out there with lighter bullets but i started seeing keyholing past 800 with 168s which i was told beforehand would probably happen by more experienced shooters.
  7. I was wondering how many of you guys/gals use a rain barrel system or store water in barrels? where do you get them from? have been thinking about putting rain barrels in for garden water etc, but also a few clean water barrels stored in the garage. would it be better to use 30 gallon barrels as opposed to 55 gallon barrels? i did find some at the local Rural King but am unsure what ws in them previously and noone there seemed to know either. dont want to use chemical barrels.
  8. just assumed it was an interstate firearms transfer.
  9. will a C&R let you get Garands from CMP shipped direct?
  10. welcome. i too was going to ask if he got it at TGC. i saw a couple at another shop for twice the price. thinking about getting one myself.
  11. i may have found a lead on a private place. its actually the 600 acres i board my horse on. another boarder mentioned getting approval to hunt there in the past. may look into it more. there are alot of nice deer out when im trail riding out there.

    1911 .45

i had a Kimber TLE as my first 1911 about 5 years ago or so. sold it stupidly about a year later. just bought a new SA Mil-Spec in stainless. so far its a great gun.
  13. ive bought from missouribullet.com, i think thats the site. anyway they are decently priced. not local but they are from where i grew up. easy to do business with. they ship in flat rate boxes so the shipping sucks if you only by 500 but great if you buy 3K they also offer discounts to police and military. maybe a few other public servants and shooting clubs.
  14. was trying to stay off campbell but ill give it a shot. would prefer to look elsewhere still.
  15. im looking to maybe lease some hunting land for this deer season and possibly spring turkey season. anyone able to point me in the direction of someone that does? feel free to PM me if you dont want it public knowlege. thanks ahead of time.
  16. you have private land availible to you or do you lease?
  17. ive got a handful of 30-06, 270 and 243 i picked up at my range. would prefer to give it up locally as its not really worth shipping. can give exact counts if needed. also some .38spl
  18. Merril- Im not trying to hijack your thread but would you mind me throwing some free rass out also instead of starting a new thread?
  19. ive never much cared for any taurus auto pistol ive ever shot. their revolvers are decent. i have no eperience with the FEG Hi Power clone althought the HP is a fine gun design. the FEG PA-63 is a decent Mak. id say go for it. cant be any worse than having a gun you dont like already.
  20. it was an ok book. i read one of the older versions. i found it creepy that the intro seemed to go along with our current situation a bit, although far fetched. it is a good conversation starter that gets people thinking. i didnt like the last quarter of it though. seemed chopped short.
  21. the one i called is VIP Security over here off Dover Rd. its just a banner in a front yard so i kind of expected what i got from them. i was just thinking about an easy side job.
  22. there is a new security company opening down the road from me. i called them and asked about what they offer and such. they do state training for armed as well as unarmed guards. they also place people in jobs as they get the contracts. pretty usual for a security company. i have worked armed security down in Florida back a few years ago but was wondering about the firearms you are allowed to carry on duty and more specifics about pay based on what you do etc. i know alot of this is dictated by the contracts but was hoping that someone here would be able to give me more info as the lady i talked to kept pushing the classes and didnt know too many specifics.
