  1. he will get my point non the less... when i get on a rant i don't pay attention to my "I's" being capitol ...i do think all my words are spelled correctly :)

and it's you're not your :) if grammar is an issue with you, no offence

Ha!  You should put down your Black Ops game console controller and read a grammar book before you type another reply.  No offense but it's uphold, nonetheless and semi-auto.  I agree with Spots that to be taken serious you need to use proper English.

  2. Not really. There are two overlapping laws, one Federal, one State. Both apply. You can violate a Federal law while not violating a State law and vice versa.

The TCA was updated a few years back to just read "firearm" and not handgun where it relates to being a felon or having a domestic violence conviction.

Here is the best link I could find for the latest version - http://www.lexisnexi...ttopics/tncode/

You have to agree to the terms before browsing the code but if you look at 39-17-1307(B) and the definitions at 39-11-106, it doesn't just prohibit a handgun anymore.

  3. Nice. I've been wanting one of those myself for the past several years. They are hard to come by. I've been ready to buy a couple of times but every time I'm ready to pull the trigger, they are out of stock. I've always been too late on the few that have popped up on here. Have fun with it.

  4. If you take it to an archery shop, they can use a measuring arrow to determine the propper length. You want the arrow as short as possible. At full draw, the tip of mine is at about the midpoint of my frame width. I use a drop down rest which allows for a slightly shorter arrow. You just have to watch your fingers when shooting broadheads. If they stick up too high they get sliced when you release it.

And like hornett said, you want the propper cam or cam setting for the right draw length.

  5. When I lived in TX, I wasn't required to go through a NICS check if I had a valid CHL and current up to date driver's license. Things may have changed since I left in 2005 but that is how it was then and I personally purchased firearms that way from ffls. The only time I had a problem was when I moved and my current address wasn't on my DL. Also, in states that let the FBI do the NICS check, a fee isn't applied to the purchase for the background check. TN does TICS simply as a source of revenue. I haven't read this entire thread so I apologize if I have gone off course.

  6. Since the last post, I've done two more guns with the instant blue. One was just a touch up of another gun that had slight flood damage to the metal. It blended perfectly. The other was of a shotgun I've had since I was a kid. It was in like new condition except for one spot on the receiver where I once got too aggressive with steel wool and the normal worn areas on the magazine tube from the slide action. I touched up the magazine and again, it was a perfect match. The receiver took a little while as it was difficult to get all the oil off of the receiver. The bluing kept wanting to just roll off the spot I was trying to fix. After several trips to the hot water and degreaser, I finally scrubbed it down with 0000 steel wool and degreaser and that did the trick. It blended in perfectly. It now looks as good as it did when I took it out of the box.

The real test will be to see if the stuff actually stays soaked into the metal. With it on 3 different guns, I should be able to tell soon enough. So far, I'm impressed with the results.

  7. I just reblued an old remington .22 today that had been damaged in the 2010 flood. The metal was in horrible shape. I picked up a bottle of Van's Instant Blue after watching Van do a demo at the gun show in Franklin last weekend. I was skeptical but his demo convinced me it was worth a shot. I used 600 grit sand paper to smooth out the metal where it was rusted. When I was done, it was pretty much all white metal. Afterwards, I degreased it really well and heated it up with a hair dryer. Low and behold, when I applied the instant blue, it worked. It looks like original blueing. You can make it as dark as you want. If you get it hot with a hair dryer, you can make it look black. I've tried the blueing kits in stores before and made a mess of a couple of guns. This stuff was only $10 for a 4 oz bottle. I barely used any to do a whole rifle, receiver and all.

If anyone has hesitated to try this stuff, don't. It works.

Here is the website for the product: Home of Van's Instant Gun Bluing and Arrow Wood Finish.

  8. What light bulbs are made in USA? I guess he meant the US "manufacturers" like GE, Slyvania, et all, whose factories are in China and Mexico? Of course, it costs money to retool those plants too, so I get that part of the point, but I don't know of any "incandescent bulbs made in this country" as per your comment. Or any other kind of light bulb. Do you?

Who is this guy btw; I don't see a Dept. of Energy under Colorado's departments on their site?

I could have misinterpreted what he meant by where the bulbs were made but what I'm pretty sure he said was the new standard isn't something new to the manufacturers. However, there was a reference to the cheap incandescent bulbs coming out of China.

The Colorado energy department is called the Governor's Energy Office: Governor's Energy Office - About Us I also said secretary but his title is technically the director.

  9. Didn't overturn law, from your article:

"The spending bill doesn’t actually amend the 2007 law, but does prohibit the administration from spending any money to carry out the light bulb standards — which amounts to at least a temporary reprieve."

Today's standards for incandescent bulbs are still on phase-out. New performance standards must be met. Really more of a semantic debate.

I spoke to the Secretary of Energy of Colorado a couple of weeks ago and he informed me of the repeal after I complained about the ban. He told me the standards for most of the incandescent bulbs made in this country already meet the "new" standards therefore there really won't be any real phase out except for some of the cheap imported stuff. The manufacturers are actually upset over this because they have already spent millions retooling their factories.

  10. I've been stocking up on incandescent light bulbs in anticipation of all of them becoming illegal just as the 100w bulb will be in a few days...I'm sure, if things continue, that it won't only be illegal to sell them in the U.S. but illegal to possess them as well. Given the seriousness of the laws regarding my toilott I'm sure possess of the wrong kind of light bulb will also be a felony.

So...with your line of reasoning, I should be put to death, right???

Just FYI, the incandescent light bulb ban was just repealed. You're safe.
