  1. I've been stocking up on incandescent light bulbs in anticipation of all of them becoming illegal just as the 100w bulb will be in a few days...I'm sure, if things continue, that it won't only be illegal to sell them in the U.S. but illegal to possess them as well. Given the seriousness of the laws regarding my toilott I'm sure possess of the wrong kind of light bulb will also be a felony.

So...with your line of reasoning, I should be put to death, right???

Just FYI, the incandescent light bulb ban was just repealed. You're safe.

  2. That's a thought as well. I've thought about painting the frame, upgrading and what not. I don't want a FS, definitely want to stay with a hardtail.

I'm going to bust into the DB this afternoon and over the weekend. Something is going on with it, when I crank down hard, i'm slipp'n, which hurts like a mofo, and the kids don't like dad dropping F'Bombs. Wife either.

Check your rear cassette. If the teeth look like shark fins you need a new chain and cassette. Check your front rings too. If they don't look like shark fins, your rear derailleur may just need to be adjusted. If I were you, I'd clean and tune up the bike you have real good and test ride many many bikes before deciding what to buy. Based on your height, I'd agree with the others that you probably need a 16" frame. Nothing smaller than that.

  3. im sorry but I have to laugh at people who gave up their firearms willingly down there. The police didn't have time to search every one's house, there is no database of who owns what, so how would they know if you had firearms or not? I would have just said, no firearms here and that would have been the end of it.

I still have to question this confiscation as legal. Does the declaration of martial law actually allow illegal search and seizures/confiscations?

I'd have to say NO on that one. I also agree with you that those who gave them up, provided they weren't obvious prohibited persons, were stupid.

  4. I had to take a hunters safety class in Texas a while back and in it was a deputy constable that was the know it all. During the course, he kept interrupting and adding his 2 cents. Out of a class of about 20 people, he and a 14 year old female failed it. I almost felt sorry for him. Almost.

  5. ttocswob "redfsr: Of course the feds provided the funds - why on earth would the cartels pay American retail prices when they can buy on

the black market for a fraction of that? "

I followed the case in Nashville involving the Nashville Police Officer. I sat in on the trial and during the testimony in that case they were paying retail prices for glocks, berettas, fn five-sevens and were doubling and tripling their money in Guatemala. I think that people are just assuming they can get guns on the black market that easily. I really don't think the feds all started this conspiracy to get more gun law legislation. There is a war going on between two cartels and there is a need for guns. Cartels certainly have the money to pay US retail prices.

  6. Call me crazy, without morals or whatever. I believe she is guilty. She didn't report her child missing for over 30 days, told numerous lies after lies about the child's whereabouts all while partying and acting like she was the happiest person on the planet. Meanwhile, her daughter lay rotting like trash. Show her some respect? No thanks. Yeah, that information was all over the news. So what. Those facts to my knowledge weren't disputed. The prosecution brought the wrong charges for the evidence they had. However, reasonable doubt now appears to be no doubt whatsoever. What do I believe? I believe she killed her or at least took part in her death. Were others involved? Maybe. Are her parents guilty of something? Maybe. I feel there was more than enough evidence to at least convict her of child abuse/neglect.

WyattEarp, what makes you believe she dies as a result of an accidental drowning? Because you heard from the media that was part of her defense? Who tries to cover up a drowning by discarding the dead child like trash with duct tape over her nose and mouth to make it look like a homicide? There is no evidence to support that theory. Certainly not enough to overturn the theory she was killed and began rotting in her mother's car before being dumped.

Let me make something clear, if I ever get called to serve on a jury I will do my civic duty and make my decision based on the evidence presented. However, I wasn't on this jury so I'm entitled to whatever opinion I want. Did the information I got from the media influence my opinion? Sure it did. You would have to live under a rock to avoid hearing anything about it. Expressing my opinion isn't intended to be a personal attack on anyone that disagrees so I expect the same in return.

The bottom line is, the case was poorly prosecuted. If you took away the media, grandstanding and ego building by the attorneys and with the same evidence I bet she would have been convicted.

  7. This just got a little more interesting. Wonder how big the snow ball will get before it stops rolling. According to Melson's testimony, the main suspect in the trafficking case was an FBI informant using funds provided by the FBI to make the purchases. The FBI failed to tell anyone until April 2011 even though they knew the ATF and DEA were investigating their informant.

  8. jDo you really need to call her that? Does it really make you feel better? do you feel like a big man because you did? did it make your balls feel a little bigger in the process?

Yes, I felt the need to call her that [however I realize it was not appropriate and have edited it]. There is no doubt in my mind she killed her kid. As a father, I have that gut feeling. She went out and partied like a rock star, got a tattoo that translated to "the good life" all while her 2 yr old girl was lying at the bottom of a swamp. I don't buy the drowning scenario one bit. Who would cover up a drowning to make it look like a murder?

I understand why she was acquitted. I'm just angry that justice wasn't served for the dead little girl. Regardless of what was put out by the media, the fact is, a little girl is dead and her mother seemed to be thrilled.

  9. I followed the case they had on the Guatemalans here in Nashville. If they can buy them cheaper I don't understand how these guys were doubling and tripling their money on Glocks and FN Five-Sevens they smuggled south. There is clearly a market for U.S. Guns down there. How do you fix it? Letting the guns walk clearly isn't the answer. I think part of the problem is going after the straw buyer doesn't result in anyone doing much time. That came out in the OIG report last year criticizing them for not going after the bigger fish.

  10. Not everyone that crys while being arrested is mental.

There is no way the DA will take this to trial, he will probably try to get her to pea to something but if she don't accept it will be dropped before trial.

They might scare her into accepting a pea deal, but I hope she is smart enough to not accept it.

If it does to trial she will be entitled to a free lawyer and a jury trial if she wants it.

To put one more twist on this, if you don't feel safe with a person standing there were you can see them, how safe do you feel when they are behind closed doors were they can really watch you :) You don't know what she might have in that house.

You aren't entitled to a "free" lawyer if you have the resources to pay. Most courts make you fill out financial forms under the penalty of perjury to determine if the court should appoint someone.

At first I thought she was wronged but the more I think about it, the camera doesn't show everything that was going on. That is the problem with cameras. They can be deceiving. They don't show everything that was going on. By the presence of the officers, this appeared to be more than a traffic stop for speeding, etc.
