    Robery Situation....

Hmmm... a Glock 23 would be fine. I guess I would want to make sure I had a very well tried and true Glock 23 (whatever brand/make) that I have put a a lot of rounds through both FMJ and my favorite hollowpoint to make sure it works everytime. That way I worry less about FTF and more about where the pumpkin guts are going to land! hehe Mom, you, and son stay safe out there.

    advice needed

lilredhunter: If you're lookin at the Glock26... have you handled a Springfield Armory XD9mm Subcompact? It's really an awesome gun similar to the Glock26 in size and all but with some extra perks that the Glock doesn't have. Not to mention it comes with a heck of a lot more (holster, 1 regular mag, 1 extended mag, lock, cleaner, mag holder, case). It has the trigger safety system kinda like a Glock but what the Glock doesn't have is the grip safety on the back of the gun. It also has two indicators that let you know it's ready to fire! (A.) It's got the striker status indicator on end of the gun to let you know visually and by feel the gun is cocked. (B.) Also it has the loaded chamber indicator that can be checked visually and by feel on top of the chamber to let you know there is a round in the chamber. (I carry the XD 40 subcompact every day and love it. I chose it too because I can buy an aftermarket barrel and mag that'll fit the gun and make it into a 9mm for only ~ $150.00, if I want to.) Good luck with your search.
  5. Simply amazing. Being in the medical field it's very sad to see morbidly obese people and friends who begin to have significant health problems that will kill them if they do not lose the weight. It is tragic how many years are taken off someone's life due to obesity. I hope we can hear from aBRG2far soon and get an update on the progress and a word from all the others who have had similar triumphs both large and small! Well done...well done.
  6. Awesome thanks a lot! I really have enjoyed using the site and will probably become a Benefactor soon!
  7. Yeah I guess the customization of the TGO title is not listed anywhere...except for here now. What causes the setting change from TGO Freshman (posts less then 50) to TGO Member (posts over 50) or TGO Senior Member (post over 500?) etc. isn't listed anywhere either, except for here now. Interesting.
  8. So I let me wife look around for a long time and she decided on the XD 9mm Subcompact w/3inch barrel. Why? Three things. 1. It fit her small hands well and she could handle to recoil, all the while admitting if she had to use it in self defense she prolly wouldn't even notice the recoil. 2. She always wants extra saftey on the gun but doesn't want a safety you have to remember to flip off. This gun has the trigger safety system kinda like a Glock but what the Glock doesn't have is the grip safety on the back of the gun. She liked this a lot b/c she didn't want to be fumbling for the gun in the night and it go off b/c she accidently pulled the trigger while grabing for it....like Plaxico Burress & his glock? haha 3. It has two indicators that let her know it's ready to fire! (A.) It's got the striker status indicator on end of the gun to let you know visually and by feel the gun is cocked. (B.) Also it has the loaded chamber indicator that can be checked visually and by feel on top of the chamber to let you know there is a round in the chamber. This way she knows for sure if there is one in there and it's ready to shoot. Anyway, "that's what she said." Good luck with your search and kudos for helping her find what she wants. There's many other very good suggestions on here. Its all up to her!
  9. Welcome to the site from Tazewell, TN
  10. If anyone wants to know because I still didn't know until now... your TGO title goes from "TGO Freshman" to "TGO Member" when you roll over to 51 posts! This is my 52nd. hurray.
  11. That sign is freakin stupid. I probably would have NEVER seen the sign! Oh well. Good thing my carry weapons conceal really well.
  12. Great thread. I'm lookin to add one to my collection sometime too.
  13. Alarm with monitoring then safe. Sounds like you are more concerned about breakins then fire. So if I had to choose one.... whew depends on a lot of factors.....maybe the alarm. Why? Because I have a handful of handguns hidden around the house for quick access if there was an intruder (and if they happen to find one of those while I am away - so be it) and the other more valuable stored guns I can hide very well from a thief. Or hide them well enough that the alarm would go off and they wouldn't want to spend much time in there trying to find my crazy hiding place. I would imagine a home invasion where an alarm goes off the thief wouldn't want to be staying for long...quick snatch, grab, and run. Just my . Make sure you have insurance too. You probably do though.
  14. +1 Danger will find you. Anywhere, anytime, anyone.
