  1. Try telling that to people from Alabama. No go. But that is about everywhere these days. Seems more and more drivers think they own the road. Oh, and has anyone noticed the drivers from Georgia here in Tennessee seem to always be in a hurry?
  2. Oh, there is so much i want to say to the people that have it wrong about drugs. But that is for another discussion. And no, I'm not a drug user( heck i don't even drink alcohol), Which in case studies has been proven it is more potent than Marijuana. Don't believe me? look it up. I'm glad i'm not alone in thinking that non-violent felons should at least be given the chance to get their rights back. But who decides what the difference in a felony and a misdemeanor is anyways?
  3. Well, see i like many on here don't know the whole life story of everyone else on here. I've made mistakes, like everyone else, I made a mistake last year that i will regret for the rest of my life. Not a felony or something criminal, I just left home earlier than I should have and could have prevented a family death and loss of home. I don't bleed for the criminals, but i see it as if there is no victim, then there should be no crime committed. And I know I am not alone in this. You wipe your slate clean, you are not a violent offender or have no history of violence in your family, then maybe a committee can assess whether or not you can legally possess a firearm( or least have some of your rights back). A right is different than a priveledge. We have "the right to life, liberty and the persuit of happiness" as per the Gov't. When a person is convicted of driving infractions, like to many DUI's, he/she loses his/her privelege to drive, License revoked. The repeat offenders break the law, even driving without a license. while those who do their time and stay clean, are allowed to regain their license upon completion of their alcohol abuse program, and repayment to society. The one's who want their license back stay sober and don't get involved with any illegal activity for fear of losing what they once had again. I have a cousin in prison, He was convicted of a violent crime, Do I think he should be allowed access to firearms? Heck no. Maybe a baseball bat for home defense or a crossbow like afore mentioned.
  4. Ok, have you ever made a mistake? Something that you wish you never did? This is not about the drug war, ( my views on that subject are for another time). Who decides the difference between a felony conviction and a Misdemeanor? The men in robes, who follow the laws( whether right or wrong) set aside in motion by those in government to decide what is best for me and you. And who do they think they are, telling us what they think is best for us? No matter what, former criminals are people like you and me( though i'm beginning to think some on here are still acting like sheeple) and they deserve the right to defend themselves from more violent criminal elements out there. Think of their family, you'd want to be able to defend yours if you were in the same situation. The law is wrong in this case. When seconds count, the cops are minutes away. And a cop is not going to be able to protect you from every violent act out there you may or may not encounter. The cops are not under any obligation to protect any of us anyways. So the way i see it, if a former criminal( who has had his/her slate wiped clean, Should be allowed to at least be able to protect his/her family since I'm sure the cops won't be serving guard duty.
  5. The thing is, majority of the non-violent drug offenders would not be in jail in the first place if the drug war was ended. I believe if a non-violent criminal ( felon) has changed his/her ways and has put their past behind them, working toward a better life, then yes, he/she should be allowed to have a firearm to protect themselves. Just because you made a mistake which really never harmed anyone( aside from the user) i don't see any reason why he/she cannot have a firearm. Users should not be put in the same categoriy as dealers or other felons. They need help, not incarceration.
  6. Gun concealed Lite is free for Apple Ipod touch and Iphone in the Apps.\ Just checked this and it only has 2 states listed. Guess you will have to buy the app.
  7. The world of coke probably used to be part of Underground Atlanta, but they have since moved. I know i was there with my full family in 2008.Was just my brother and I this past september. ( noticed they check for weapons at the entry gate). anything pocketknife like they can hold for you till you exit the attraction. My dad and i had to give up our knives( i luckily was able to get thru with my keys) got a claim ticket for them, and was able to get them back after we exited. If there were lockers available close to the attractions, I would bring my gun and so-and-so. CNN center is the same.
  8. Why do you ask? Probably because it is my right to choose whether i spend my $ on a membership( If and when I do choose to join i would choose the lifetime), but like previous posters stated, hard to get that kind of cash together at once. Because no matter what i do, something else needing my immediate attention the cash available is spent toward that thing, repair, etc... I'm sure they can do without my $ for a little while.
  9. AMEN. Government should only be in the business of protecting life, liberty and property. Staying the heck out of personal lives( let me decide what i want to do without having to ask permission for a given right.) I'm sure most if not all of us could use the cash better spent somewhere else than paying some burecrat for a liscense or permit in order to enjoy life and the rights associated with it. I'm not poor, Not rich either. But i'm sure if i was poor, i could make the permit paying process work. Just have to give up some things and save. And when you calculate $200 for the initial permit and class diviced by 4 years( first 4 years) = $50 a year, then for the next 4 years the $50 re-application fee = 12.50 a year. Which is reasonable, even though i don't agree with having to pay the state for a right. Look at New hampshire, North Carolina, Kentucky, among other right to carry states. They allow open carry, I think a conceal carry permit may only cost $10-$50 for those states. Heck, in Alabama( which i am real close to that state) a concealed permit cost maybe $20 and a background check and then done. No training required, unless things have changed.
  10. I just figured out a better way to take this apart and no I did not take StrickJ's advice either. ( I think main reason why i could not get the slide off first was it had a little rem oil on the slide keeping me from getting a grip on it plus with me not having my rear sight in i lost a little bit on something to hold to move the slide back). Plus it could have been that the spring was a little stiff. I don't know what everyone's problem is, Is someone a little scared that someone else new to Glocks has a little more trouble than most in just removing the slide? But i figured it out, it has been off, cleaned and back on( now to get that rear sight installed). Just have to figure it out, it isn't rocket science. StrickJ, I don't think you as a dick, maybe an ass or something else though.
  11. Oh, i got the slide off today, just took a different approach than the vids and the manual( used my Brain to think this one out). I just never had to take it off before. Now the sights aren't recommended that you use anything other than a sight pusher to re-install or install new sights. A nice sight pusher runs from between $90 and $200 maybe more. I just don't see the sense in having one of these unless i had a business where i dealt with guns all the time or had more guns than I needed( which I'm sure there are collectors). I'll just take it to the gunsmith sometime this week, or saturday and have the sights re-installed. Till then if it comes to it, all i got to do is line the front sight with my target and pull the trigger. Thanks for the help.
  12. I have never had this field stripped to clean before( i haven't fired it as much as i would have liked to). I do clean the gun, just with the slide on. Gun is always unloaded when i am cleaning it or working on it. Just until i can get the rear sight put back on, I cannot get a grip on the slide and pull the 2 buttons to remove the slide. Did dry fire gun, still hard to pull slide off. I called Gander, but their gunsmith will be off work when I'm off work( guess i'll have to wait till saturday). Looked up the "sight pusher" online, no pic, and they are sold out of them at the site my boss generally uses. Thinking about upgrading to "Laserlyte" sights, but right now $200 is a lot i can't see paying for something so small.
  13. So far i have followed the instructions( that came with my glock from the manufacturer). But still can't get the slide to come off. the rear sight isn't broken, just i can't seem to get the darn thing past the metal retention bumps in the slide. Where do i find a sight pusher? Thanks
  14. Ok, I know i'm new at this but i need some help with my Glock 23. I went riding yesterday at Prentice Cooper with it on me( as i usually do) but it was probably a mistake as the dust was unbearable at times on the trails. I was on my atv as well as there was well over 100 other atv/utvs out on the trails. My gun is functionable, but clogged with dust( i can hear the grinding when i pull the slide back) It needs a thorough cleaning. My question is this, I am trying to take the slide off my glock and still can't seem to get a grip on it( i am following the MFG's instructions to the letter) and when I tried using a little bit of leverage using my dresser, i inadvertenly took my rear sights off the gun( now i can't get that little piece back on. Anyone have this prob? and what did you do to fix it? Thanks
  15. No matter where i go, someone has to say something smartassy. No matter, Whenever a huge event like bonnaroo happens, there are going to be drugs and rules. You don't like their rules, you don't have to participate. Most of those roonies are peacefull people( they just want to have fun), there will be plenty of Peace officers present and EMT/Fire rescue personell. I don't see where a need for a gun or any weapon of any kind would be needed. ( but if you can't come here without your gun) hide it if you can( unload the rounds and hide everything) as a previous poster said, they will be looking mainly for drugs and anything obvious that is on the "NO" list. They will not be strip searching your car though. I'm sure there is a good place in or under your vehicle where you can stash it.
  16. Lincoln county sherriff has the digital set-up with scanner and computer. I had mine done last summer on that system when i applied for mine. Very curteous and helpful staff as well.
  17. I know the Police crack down on the bonaroonies on the way to the event around here. They will get some drugs and stuff, but still some gets thru. Seems they mainly target out of state vehicles and RVs.
  18. I live out in the county( lincoln) and when i bought my shed( 12x16) i didn't need any permits. I don't see the need to ask permission to build a shed on your own property ( after all you bought it, and supposedly own it) and still have to pay taxes on it. If it is out in the county and used for storage under a certian limit, i don't think you need a permit. But you might check your county website for better information on this. If not that, ask non-chalantly one of your county Beuracrats about the permit issue.
  19. True my brother is a lawyer, but an out of state ( Georgia), democrat, gun-hating, liberal. I don't need any more advice, or remarks on this. It is done, thanks you all, for the advice, some will be used, some wont.
  20. Ask these guys, they might know more. UtahConcealedCarry.Com • View forum - Concealed Carry I have heard from another source that you need to have written permission from the tribal elder on that reservation to carry a gun? just what i have read.
  21. Ok, i have all i need. Some good, some bad, and some downright rediculous. I only wanted to know if i had the right to do what is necessary to eliminate a threat on my own property. If i could ever talk to the owners when they are at home i would, but we all are on different schedules( and since they have kids and I'm busy with my other things going on, free weekends have been hard to come by). Next time when i see my neighbors, i will talk to them in a neighborly manner, telling my concerns about their dogs running loose, and if something was to happen they could be held liable for damages or worse. My brother is a Lawyer so if i ever need one, I'm covered. Brother lives out of state( he can't know every law in TN), but he has friends here. As of lately the Pit-bull has been on a leash and penned up( i have not seen him running loose since). Problem about solved.
  22. I really wanted a hnest answer on my rights on my own property. Whether or not everyone agrees with it. I'm ok with dogs, i just wish the owners would keep up with them instead of just letting them roam free( if they lived out in the country on hundreds of acres of farmland, then fine, probably watching the livestock. As long as they remain on their property I have no problem. I do however have a problem when they get off their property and come at someone else, just minding their own business. Any animal, I don't care how friendly it may be with the owners, can snap in a moment. No matter how long a person has raised animals or how much experience they have with one breed or another, can they actually tell that the animal will remain friendly or non-aggressive. I have used my bb guns in the past, paintball guns work to an extent, but what if that dog still comes at you? I don't care if everyone agrees or not, I will do what i think is best for myself and hopefully the community if it comes to it. Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against dogs, ( i have family that have several, all different breeds). I do however have something against the owners of dogs that are not responsible for their own animals. And as for my cat, she was adopted from a no-kill animal shelter in Belvidere.
  23. Thank you, all valid points. I think i am just going to report the offenders to the Sherrif. Thing is this happened a few years ago at my parents house in Tullahoma and dad still lives in the city limits. Mom tried taking the owners to court cause they killed her cat on her own property.Animal control was on our side. But since nobody actually saw the attack happen, the owners got off( i guess having friends in town helps). All i know is while dad is rebuilding his house he and when myself and my brother visit are staying at a rental right across the street from the offender dog( the dog is forever leashed up). I'm just waiting for the day when that dog finally does something. Then the owner is held liable for it. As for the pit bull( it gets off it's leash again and threatens me, I won't hesitate). I think a .40 cal hollow-point will do quite a bit of damage. Maybe two or three just to be safe.
  24. Ok, now I am not a dog hater or anything, but do I have the right to shoot a dog on my property if that dog is threatening towards me? My neighbors 2 houses down from me have one of those "Pit-Bulls" and so far it has gotten into my yard and came near close to biting me. The owners keep it leashed up or penned up, but dogs do on occasion get loose. I live here in the county and since there is no leash law, people round here let their dogs go rampant. Since then I carry my gun on me everytime i leave the house. Not that i am afraid for myself, but the dog could attack anyone. I just want to make sure i have the right to defend myself on my own property.
  25. My dad would always lock and re-lock every single door in our house when we went to bed at night or left the house( he always would ask if we locked up when we left for work, school etc...) Which was a good thing considering all the tools and stuff we had in the house. He would pitch a fit if he came home and one of us forgot to lock up. Now me getting a gun didn't sit too well with my parents when i was still living at home, i had a bb gun( better little than nothing) and unbeknownst to me my dad had 3 handguns in his closet. So once i moved out here to Lincoln county, my mom became worried with me being so faraway from everyone that when i told her i was thinking on getting a handgun and a carry permit, she was a little skeptical, but she was supportive in my choice. I had a 22 rifle at the time, given to me by her sister at christmas 2008. Now i probably will never convince my brother of my needing a gun ( He is definately Democrat and of all places living and working in Atlanta). He doesn't think here in rural TN, that anything bad will happen, I've tried to convince him that bad things happen no matter where you are, but he's stubborn and hardheaded( just like our mom was). He refuses to be around me when I have my gun on me, so I'll either hide it (always conceal) or if i really know the area, leave it in my travel bag or where I'm staying for the night, that is if we go out on the town). One of these days, i hate to say it something bad will happen and he will wish i had my gun on me with him. So far only place i do not carry besides the prohibited places is work, and even then I feel naked without it.
