  1. The problem I see with permitless carry or with permits that are issued without any classes is that people probably aren't aware of the laws of what they can or can't do. The classes at least touch on some of the laws on the use of deadly force. I doubt most of those who carry that haven't had to take a class are aware or even look at what is legal to do or not do. They then find out the hard way when they pull a gun and then say "I thought that wqs legal to do" and find out otherwise.

  2. Thanks for the replies. I havent had a chance to handle either yet but the next time I'm in GT Distributors, I'll see if they have both for me to check out. I had originally been looking at getting the gen 5 23 in .40 caliber but I have a gen 3 23. Hickok 45 wasn't too fond of it in his review so I thought maybe a .45 might be the way to go.

  3. I've been toying with the thought of getting another Glock in the distant future. I have been looking at the 30 but also the 21...especially the 21SF. I wish they made a mid-size .45 but the only one I saw in that size is the 38 which is chambered in .45 GAP which I'm not too interested in. Does anyone on here carry a 21 for CC? I know the 21 is a full size which will make it more difficult to conceal. I've read that some people don't like the 30 because it can pinch their pinky fingers between the grip and magazine. I'm still kinda on the fence about which one to get.

I bought a set of Meprolight night sights for my RIA 1911. The rear sight went on without much issue. The front sight however was a different story.  Even though these sights are for a Rock Island, I had to do quite a bit of filing on the bottom of the sight in order to get it to fit into the dovetail. After several back and forth of test fitting, filing, test fitting, etc. I was able to get it in enough to use my sight pusher. Got the sight on but got to noticing a small amount of daylight between the dovetail of the slide and sight on the bottom side.  I dunno if somehow I was filing the sight crooked but was trying to keep it straight as I took material off the bottom. I am now kinda worried about any moisture getting in that area and causing rust. I didn't use any locktite to hold it in place. Should I remove the sight and put some locktite in the dovetail and reinstall and maybe that would help fill that gap? I guess I should've let a pro install it instead of trying to be a diy gunsmith.

  5. Here's my take on all this..

    1. Don't associate with wanted felons.

    2. Don't drive  a vehicle if the person who owns it is a wanted felon.

    3. Don't be "riding dirty".

    4. Having a bad attitude and resisting arrest won't get you far.

    5. Pulling and/or using a weapon on a LEO will most likely get you killed.

To sum it up..I don't have any sympathy for her or anyone else who acts like that.

  6. I was browsing around Ollie's the other day and came across a book that got my attention.  It is called "Cop Under Fire" by well-known Sheriff David Clarke Jr. I'm about close to being halfway through and it haa been a good read. I always liked his no-nonsense attitude and his unwavering support for law enforcement.  He doesn't pull any punches and tells it like it is on a variety of subjects. I highly recommend it.

  7. That looks nice. I like my TL Racker now that I got the right one for my gun. The one made for the Shockwave which what mine is but with the 18.5" barrel wouldn't work. I had to get the one for the 590. This is the tool I used to remove and re-install the action nut. It's crude but it worked..lol

  8. I guess third time's a charm. I ordered the 500/590 Streamlight version and it fits perfect. The light is blindingly bright. I still don't understand why the Shockwave version wouldn't work on mine even though it is a Shockwave with an 18.5" barrel. I ditched the birdhead grip for a Hogue stock and replaced the bead with an XS big dot sight. I should've just got a 590 and been done with it.

  9. I returned the unit and got a refund. I got to looking at the one for the 500/590 and it looks like it might work. What's weird is that after looking at the different ones on their website,, the one for the Shockwave and the one for the Remington 870 look identical. The guns are not the same.  The one for the 500/590 is made differently. I ordered one thru Midway since they had them on sale. Update to follow...

  10. I think it is a design flaw. I had the same issue with the first one I bought. The second one had the same issue. I may contact Streamlight about the issue but I'll probably get a refund first from the place I bought it from.  The slop in the action is unacceptable to me. The stock forend that came on my Mossy has no end to end movement once the nut is tightened. It shouldn't be the any different with the Streamlight I think.
