  1. I am a big fan of Sako rifles and .243.  I bought an Encore barrel in .243 for my daughter to hunt with.  She took her first deer with it at probably 10 or 11.  Light recoil and enough power to kill whitetails.  It is a great all around caliber for anybody not just kids.

You must be using a different measuring stick there, neighbor. Yesterday when it finished snowing I measured 7.5" on my cars and on the deck, and 9" in the open yard. 10" in the drifts. Or maybe it snowed more on my street.  😄

ETA: KahrMan and I live in the same subdivision. Literally like 3 or 4 streets apart. 😉

And if you look at that post it was in the morning. Later in the afternoon I made another post about finishing at just over 7”.  Still sounds like your side of the neighborhood got more snow. lol

It is a 16" barrel so I assume it was cut down as I don't think Marlin made these in 16" barrels. If you are a Marlin expert, please educate me! I bought it about 15 years ago off a gentleman who was selling a number of lever guns via a newspaper classified ad (I'm 37 but now that sounds kind of old school, right? Sort of miss it though). Stay warm everyone!

I also have a 1895 that has been cut to 16”. It is my favorite lever gun.   Only difference is I have a 2x scout scope mounted on it.  A 16” barrel makes a great size to carry in the woods.

  4. Dad loves finding cool little tools to give as Christmas presents to my brother and me.  The one he found this year will be very helpful.

How many times do you need to figure out what size a random bolt or nut is?  Usually I take it to the hardware store and start trying it out until I find out what size it is.

With this tool I can now figure out out pretty much any odd bolt or nut I have.  It has standard and metric and different thread pitches.  Pretty simple idea but it will be very useful.

  5. Still thinning the heard of guns that are either duplicates or I never shoot.  Up for sale is a 1983 Marlin 1894 in 44 mag.  I never shoot this one because I usually go for my Marlin 336 in 44 mag.  This is not a safe queen.  It has had a good life.  Still in good shape but has been used as you can tell by the pics.  Comes with the sling.
