I've actually got a battery powered unregistered full-auto grease gun. It will shoot grease as long as you hold the trigger.

I guess I'd really be in trouble if I painted it evil black and sawed off the length of the hose.

  2. After today's EO, it appears that anybody that sells a few guns can get a FFL. From what I've seen from the EO, you don't even have to have a official "business" to be required to have a FFL. That tells me that anybody and everybody can obtain a FFL.

I'll also add that if what I posted above is right, it may be a bad time to get a FFL as a business. If everybody gets a FFL, the actual firearms business is going to take a hit.

  3.  It was pretty hard in the past to get a FFL if you didn't have a storefront. If they are going to require everybody that sales a few guns get a FFL, they are going to have to let everybody that wants one get a FFL.

Go ahead and get your FFL. Then you can buy all the guns you want with no background checks.

The down side is all your transactions will be documented by the feds.

  4. As I understand it (but I could very well be wrong), a reciprocity agreement falls apart if one party reneges... I would expect that, within a year's time, VA permit holders pretty much wont be able to carry into any contiguous states.  I live only 300 yds from the VA state line - and, as others have pointed out, VA is (for now) an OC w/o permit state...guess the Springer gets to see the light of day on northerly excursions.  Given the rabid anti-2A histories of Herring and McAuliffe, this will likely be but the tip of the iceberg.  While it will be difficult at present for them to eliminate permitless OC, I do expect considerable pressure from them to make OC as uncomfortable - and as unwelcome - as they can.

Two states don't have to have a agreement for you to be able to carry there. I don't think we have a formal agreement with AL but they still recognize TN permits.

I wouldn't want to see TN not allow VA permits. Two wrongs don't make a right.

  5. My gun usually in a OWB holster covered by a un-tucked shirt. It prints big time in certain situations but most of the time my wife doesn't even notice.

Only time I think I've been "read" is a couple of times by cops and I think that's just because they are trained to look for that sort of thing. They didn't say anything but I did notice them looking at the hump in my shirt.

I've tried most of the IWB holsters and I can't wear them. It's just too uncomfortable for me. I've bought a pile of them that I can't wear for any extended period of time.

  6. My wife's aunt is rabid anti-gun and pretty much anything else super liberal. She lives in CA (imagine that) and comes to visit every Christmas. We usually go out to eat with her and her husband (he's not as bad as her but she wears the pants in that family). While I don't open carry, I make sure to let out a clue that I'm armed and I make sure I wear my NRA cap. She won't come out and say anything but you can tell it eats her up.

She's actually a pretty nice lady if she keeps her liberal thoughts to herself. She knows this and tends not to bring up politics during her visit.

  7. A private business needs to step up to the plate and welcome RK and Bill Goodman to their establishment. Then both need to exploit how many small businesses are represented by these shows and how many are employed.

While they are at it they need to mention the law about knowingly selling to a ex-con - criminal.

Meanwhile look for another tax to "solve" this so-called gun show loophole.

If Bill Goodman doesn't mind coming to Dickson, I've got a 60,000 sq ft warehouse that I would love to put him in. If anybody knows how to contact them, I'd be interested.

I've actually thought of doing a gun show myself but don't even know where to get started.

  8. When I was just a kid, I went on a school trip to DC. Back then (late 1980s) I carried a Buck 110 everywhere and the school didn't even care back then as long as you kept you knives in your pocket.

I got a really good lesson on how strict DC is about weapons. Mind you, this was before there were even metal detectors at the airport so I had never seen one or knew what one was. Low and behold they had a metal detector at the FBI building and I set it off. I threw the 110 out like it was nothing and the agents almost messed their pants. They were at one point discussing what they were going to do with me and kept measuring the blade length. After it was all said and done, they let me tour the building and pick the knife up on my way out and got a stern talking to from my teacher.

I shutter to think of what would have happened to me if that had taken place in recent times. I'm sure I'd have made the national news and be branded a home grown terrorist.

  9. The funny (or not) thing is that there are a lot of gun owners that oppose any new gun legislation that , beat their chest and say "from my cold dead hands" that  will STILL vote for her because she is the Democrat candidate and even though she is 100% against their way of life they will vote for her because they are multi generational democrats and she is who their union will tell them to vote for......

Ain't that the truth. I know several conservative thinking people that always have voted the democrat ticket. Mainly union folks that the unions have brainwashed into thinking that the dems will pad their pockets with cash.

I think most of these hard core union folks are finally jumping ship though as the democratic party is going too far to the left. Well, most of them have always been that far to the left, they were just secretive about it. As of late, they just come right out and say.

I know a lot of the union workers at TVA Johnsonville have "seen the light". Mainly because Obama's EPA is shutting down their plant. The Union bosses still scream "the republicans will take your jobs" but a lot of the rank and file union workers are jumping ship.

  10. My house is way off the road and I also collect military vehicles and you can routinely hear me shooting guns. I have come to be known as the crazy gun guy with all the military trucks.

People that know me know that's not who I really am but it's not a bad reputation to have. All my neighbors have had break-ins but they always seem to pass my place up.

  11. I had a conversation with a officer while armed about a month ago.

My neighbor came home with a robbery in progress. The robbers ran toward my place and he called and told me as much right after he called to police. I threw my AR across my back and went out to check on the outbuildings. While I was checking on things, the police showed up at my place to have a look around. I had a conversation with them with the AR on my back. Nobody even mentioned it. Now mind you this is a rural area and it's not uncommon to see people carrying guns at any given time.

Another time some friends and I were doing some shooting at my makeshift range. Somebody called and complained and the police showed up. I saw the cop coming down the driveway and I asked everybody to put their firearms down as to not make the cop nervous with about a dozen people with guns in their hands. The cop saw what we were doing (shooting into a berm) and told us to carry on.

  12.

I know that I am preaching to the choir here but only a fool would simply go along with any government proposal without examining the contents for themselves and drawing their own conclusions.

The country is full of them. fools that is.

by barring those with felony records from buying guns if results of a federal background check aren't returned within three days.

Somebody needs to tell her that felons are already barred from owning guns.

  13. I've learned a lot of stuff from my many years dealing with law enforcement.

I've tried to be confrontational (when I was younger) and that has never worked out in my favor.

I have found that just being honest and forthcoming can go a long way on something like a simple citation that the officer has discretion to overlook .

If it's something more that a simple citation, keep your mouth shut. You don't have to be confrontational but just shut up.

Years ago (when I was 16) I got confronted by the Game Warden for spotlighting deer. All I had done was shine the truck headlights into a field of deer. At the time, I didn't know it was illegal so I spilled the beans to the Warden thinking he would turn me loose after finding out I didn't have a gun or a spotlight. Come to find out the Warden had zero evidence other than a concerned citizen thought he saw me doing it (but wasn't sure) until I voluntarily gave him all the evidence he needed to issue a court summons. Ended up having to go to court and got off with nothing more than a stern talking to from the judge but I learned to keep my mouth shut in the future.

A lawyer told me one time "If you are being implicated in a crime, the cops already know what they know and there is nothing you can say to change that. By talking, the only possible outcome is you hurting yourself".
