I visited the Bass Pro Shop at Opry Mills last evening and left my gun in the car thinking someone had commented about Opry Mills being posted. I went in to Bass Pro and saw no posting and looked hard for it. I did see a sign that said "Check all firearms and bows at Customer service". It was about 20 feet from me as I went through the turnstyle and it was posted perpendicular to the entrance. You would have to be really looking to notice it. So I assume they are not legally posted?? anyone else know about Bass Pro???

I am getting ready to buy a long term keeper. I have narrowed it down to the following. All in 9mm. I will be CC'ing this one. Para, Carry9 CZ 2075 Rami Kimber Ultra II And yes believe it or not even considering the Bersa Ultra Compact 9. It seems to be a bargain for what you get. I have 2 Bersa's now and very accurate and very reliable. Pro's and cons from current owners??? Thanks,

Consistent compression of a spring does not make it wear. The compression and decompression or movement of the tempered material, or the movement of the molecules is what causes the breakdown of the microscopic structure of elements. In laymens terms,, load em up and keep em loaded as long as you like. You will be long gone in a pine box before you have to worry about single compression breakdown of tempered spring steel.

My wife carries a Bersa 380, its light, not much recoil, easy to conceal and she can literally shoot the eyes out of a silouhette at 15 yards. 400 rounds without a glitch. She carries Gold Dot hollow points. it's about a $300 gun around here. She loves it.

Vehicle carry options separate from your EDC rig?
Sams Dad replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I carry cross draw at 10 o'clock all the time. I know , I know I may start a debate, however it works best for me. I can pull my shirt up with my left hand without having to reach across my body to the right and then draw with my elbow all the way to my shoulder. Ergonomically strong side carry just doesnt do it for me. I can also get to it with my left hand and fend off someone with my right arm and leg while getting to the gun. I have worked with this extensively and it works best for me. You might consider cross draw in the car. -
I found a website from florida that had lots of practice material. Granted it is for Florida, you just have to drop the legal stuff and read the core infromation. There are 5 lessons and I printed it off for my wife to study with lots of Tn. legal stuff from here and the net. We went to the range for about 300 rounds the month before her class and she aced it all. 96% on the range. She said the study material for very helpful. www.flccw.com Hope this helps

Mounting a holster to the nightstand
Sams Dad replied to Sean's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Google " gun magnet". These look pretty interesting and can be mounted anywhere with 2 screws. -
A good sandblast with some fine medium will clean it up good. That design cut on a good waterjet or laser would be very clean as well. Your spot on with the powder coat also. (Toolmaker/Engineer here so i can appreciate your efforts)

Does anyone carry HCP liability or personal liability/defense insurance? They mentioned it in our HCP class.

Bought my wife a Bersa 380 after she fondled a lot of guns and she loves it,. It shoots great, it's very accurate, very reliable, easily concealable and lightweight. Not a single glitch in over 300 rounds of practice. She scored 96 on her HCP test shooting out to 25 yards. She has loaded up with Gold Dot JHP's and I don't worry about her being effective with it at all. She practices 3 shot bursts and I think that will do the trick if she ever needs it. Good luck with your hunt.

Welcome and here is one of my first posts when I signed up here. For what it's worth,,, I am an HCP holder and put a lot of thought into the responsibilities of having it. Having said that, I have read some posts that concern me when I drill down into the possible repercussions of what seems like perfectly legal and acceptable actions. One, is going for a walkabout armed just to see if someone notices. Secondly is open carry. The third concern is informing businesses that they are not legally posted. Again, I do understand that we have the legal right to do so. I have made some personal choices that should be important to all of us. (a) The first is not to carry to be seen or try to be noticed, secondly not to open carry. If we do these things it just draws attention to ourselves and gives the liberal sheep another thump on the nose :stick:to stand up for gun control. For those against HCP's it is like pouring salt in a wound.:stir:I think it is best to be unnoticed :cool:and enjoy our rights as we go about our daily lives. Remember the old saying, out of sight, out of mind. We should however stand up and fight for the rights our forefathers and veterans gave their lives and time to insure we have. There is a place and time to fight legal and judicial battles and it is not at your local retailer. What they don't know will not hurt them, what they do know gives passage for talking up a wave of people to be against us and our rights. A man's wife may be extremely good looking but he doesnt take her to Wal Mart in a bikini just to see if everyone notices does he? ( If we just let the businesses alone who are not posting in compliance and quietly carry, we always have an ace in the hole. Let them figure it out on their own (or not). You would not stop on the side of the road and tell a trooper shooting radar that he did not do it correctly or he would have caught you speeding would you? We do not need to prove to the world that we can protect ourselves unless we unfortunately have to do it. These of course are just my personal opinions. Think about it.

I agree on Asherbranners. We live in Gallatin and I took my wife there often for a month before she took her HCP class. We both took our HCP class there and I have a lot of respect for them all, just plain good folks. They are open late on Thursday nights and most of the time we had it to ourselves. She was not distracted or getting too much advice to process at one time. The folks there are super nice and will help you any way they can. I have not visited anywhere else however its serves very functionally. We are thinking about joining yearly.

I fingerprinted on 11-25 and got mine on 1-8. Considering Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays I thought 44 days was pretty fast. The wife is fingerprinting this week, we will see how long hers takes.

I have a 1911, LLAMA 9mm parabellum full frame with 4-1/2 barrel. I bought it used from a police officer abut 20 years ago. The markings have G2 which I think is a 1987 model. It shoots great and its what I took my HCP class with and scored 98% on the range. It eats about anything i put in it. It is in great shape. I have had the hankering for something new like the Kimber Ultra or maybe even a Bersa/Firestorm ultra compact. I was curious if anyone could give me a realistic value on it? Or, can anyone give me a good lead on some rubber grips to fit it. Standard 1911 grips are off on the hole spacing. it has the wood grips with the Llama logon imbedded. Thanks,

Bought my wife a new Bersa 380 for Christmas and liked it so much I bought myself one the next day. We have put about 350 rounds each through them without a single flaw. We love them and it is as accurate as my 9mm 1911 at 15 yards. She took her class and test today and scored a 96 out of possible 100 on her range test, shooting out to 25 yards.
