I'd like to know "the rest of the story".  Small market equipped with a heavily armored "safe room" attacked by multiple gunmen with long arms??  Doesn't sound like a typical quick in, quick out smash and grab operation to me.

Work good like AmPaTerry says.  Nice thing about being a old geezer though, don't have to try to hide them so I look "cool"!  Just clip'em on and go.  Personally, I like the ones made by  Perry.  Black and blue gets boring quickly though.  You can have some fun if you're crazy enough to wear the wild colors and patterns they make.

Very true about the bomber crews.  I had an uncle who was a radar-navigator in the 379th Bomb Group.  He flew 21 combat missions between Oct '44-Apr '45; 20 were over Germany; Berlin twice, Mannheim, Cologne, Hanover and several other cities.  As a radar navigator, 18 missions were with the 526th Squadron lead crews.  He said that, except for their next to last mission in April '45 to Bordeaux-Royayl (France) which he called a "milk run", they returned with a flak damaged plane every time. 

Some of his more interesting stories involved the German's ME-262 jet fighter.  He said they were deadly and when you saw one attacking your formation a bomber was going down. The only thing you could do was hope he didn't pick your plane.

All the men and women that fought WWII have my greatest admiration and appreciation.  I'm not sure we could again do it today.

Fantastic Murgatroy.  Long ago I did the full 4-H program; all 10 years.  No shooting program then but I worked the rifle range at the camp in Columbia, TN during summer camp every year.  I'm currently training to be a 4-H shooting sports coach next year.  Maybe we'll have some success with our kids and I'll get to watch her at a meet some day.

Sounds like you're luck to be uninjured and posting on TGO.  A critical part of the steering system fell off a new vehicle after 40 miles of use??  Great advertisement for Jeep products.  Personally, I'd be expecting some significant action from the manufacturer and wouldn't be waiting calmly a week later to receive "it" and my new car.  Also, it takes a week and counting to replace a tie rod, wheel and tire??.  I think I smell a fishy odor!

Been there, done that several years ago - three times.  Might be different now but I remember they stopped the general anesthesia a little before the procedure ended.  They wanted you mobile quickly when they finished.  Imagine a giant rubber band hitting the same spot over and over.  Each zap hurts a little more than the one before it (or maybe I was waking up more).  You can suffer through a lot if that's the only option but why do it.

 

+1 on Mrs. safeandsecure's comment on passing a stone.  If you've never seen one imagine a 3-D object made of broken razor blades that are  pointing in all directions.  I can't compare the experience to giving birth but the fact others do gave me a whole new perspective on the females in our lives.

It amazes me how most people think short-term and not far enough ahead to consider the real issue of available land vs. population.  Tennessee has an area of 42,181 square miles.  That's all the land, not just land used for agriculture.  A little less than 1/2 the state (11.8 million acres) is farmland.  Another 14 million acres are forests.

 

Our estimated population in 2014 was 6.549 million people.  Do the math.  If the people are spread evenly across ALL the land in the state each of us  would get a square about 425 ft. on a side where we could live and try to survive.  If you're lucky your "football field and a half" can be farmed.  If not, you might be trying to find a way to eat while hanging on the side of Mt. LeConte.  Hunting for meat - forget it.  My squirrels and bunnies are pretty "productive" but not that good!  Plus, I've got 8 neighbors around me that want meat too. 

 

Put the people on the land being used for agriculture today and your "share" shrinks to a square about 280 ft. per side.  In either case it's probably more land than you can cultivate without power equipment and draft animals will be virtually non-existent (How many people do you know that own a draft horse, mule or ox?). 

 

Yes, I am realistic; there won't be 6.5 million Tennesseans after a major SHTF event, but the idea is still the same.

Following the law to its logical limit would mean that no manufacturer could make weapons for any civilians.

 

Or cars or baseball bats or...  How far can the list go?   Although I do feel for them, I doubt the plaintiffs' loss and pain, is a consideration at all.  They are just being used to advance someone else's agenda... and to give a bunch of lawyers a huge payday if they can pull this off.

[Universal Super Duper Background Check]

Am I the only one tired of being background checked to death? Can't they come up with a single background check that can cover everything, for a period of years?

I'm background checked for firearms purchases, hazardous materials endorsement, C&R FFL, making deliveries to Ft. Campbell, Handgun Carry Permit, and God knows what else I'm forgetting.

All of these require renewals, so it seems like I'm constantly going though a damn background check.

 

Too logical...  Plus there's no increased revenue potential in it.

1 trillion is student loan debt, 17% + default rate, 6 million more college grads than college grad jobs, tax refunds seized, wage garnishments approved but the only way to make them pay is physical force by guv'mint.

 

Think they're all holding out for a Presidential Pardon?  Bernie has already "promised" to make public colleges and universities tuition free.  Maybe they're hoping it he'll include retroactive debt forgiveness in the new socialist USA.  They see that our politicians already eagerly handing $$$$$ to illegals and want to "forgive" them for breaking our laws; why not personal debts?  Way too many of that generation have never been made to accept responsibility for anything. 

 

There is a reason the "millennial generation" is lining up behind Sanders; it's all about his promises of "FREE whatever..."  But don't ask them to define "socialism" or tell you how it "works". 

 

Can't believe us old geezers still think that asking for and accepting some else's money creates a legal and moral obligation to repay them.  I'm just old fashioned I guess.
