Since I just bought a new P3AT, I figure Keltec should lower the price by at least a $100 bucks or so any day now.
I like Rugers but I don't think they are going to corner the market with their knock off. -
I agree Towerclimber if someone you don't know kicks in your door they probably deserve whatever happens. However, if someone knocks, and you look out and see police cars and police I think it would be wise to ask them what they want. I myself think Mars suggestion of using common sense is the best way to go. I really don't like having to use lawyers, especially the ones I can afford!

Well after you don't answer the door and they kick it in, maybe your heirs can sue them! I am sure they wouldn't make two mistakes the same night and shoot first when they see sudden movement.
I sure would rather have them come to the wrong house instead of not bothering to show up. I also think if you speak with the sheriff face to face when it happens the problem will stop. If it doesn't keep going up the line -city council-mayor-etc.

That rule bites! The range near me just requires the person to be over 12 and allows them to shoot anything. Of course they have to be properly supervised by a parent. My son went for the first time on his 12th birthday,last month and shot all my pistols. I was suprised he did pretty well. He was able to keep all the rounds in the silhouette from my XD-45 at 15 yards. (much better than some folks in my concealed class)

Well it seems we aren't really just a bunch of dumb hillbillies after all. Pretty varied assortment of occupations. I am still looking forward to one of those "Every day is Saturday" ones myself.

Glad you posted this photo. I recently took my 12 year old to the range for the first time, this photo made him understand why those rules on the wall were put there. A photo is worth a thousand words sometimes.

O.K. since my hobby thread is off to a great start, how about tell us what you do for a living. I know we have a few gunshop owners and a purveyor of adult beverages, but what else?
Me, I am a mailman and I assure you I am not disgruntled I am as gruntled as the next person. Although I am not sure what gruntled means exactly.

I started the thread so I get to go first. I do saltwater reef aquariums and enjoy homebrewing beer. I also enjoy drinking homebrew beer.

Thanks for the replies. I think I want one as a flat top heavy barrel varmint/sniper shooter. The other probably a shorty. Any preferred vendors for pieces & parts. Midway had what I thought were decent prices on lower parts kits. DPMS under $50 if I recall...

I would love a 547. However the hammerless design of the taurus also impresses me for concealed carry. Also I can get at least 2 taurus for one 547. Thanks for the input Doc.

Alrighty then, bought two new stripped lowers. Now I need suggestions on how to fill them up. Anybody have favorites for lower ends, or more importantly what not to waste money on? This will be my first AR build so go easy on me.

Geez where to start. I had new gunitus bad for a while in the 80's.
Several of all these: Hipowers, Gold Cups, Government&commander Series 70 colts,boat load of model 29's with wood cases,a few model 27"s and lets not even start on the rifles.

I have come full circle. I traded many nice revolvers over the years for the latest greatest high cap piece of plastic. Now I am trying to replace those guns at very,very different prices. (Pardon me while I administer another swift kick to my posterior!) Everything seems to be about double to triple for those I traded. Oh well, never getting rid of the steel ones again!
Doc Boom even though I am not a Taurus fan, I do like that model, do you have any feedback on it?

I have a Desert Eagle in 9mm. It's not the baby though. I bought it years ago when I thought they were going to ban all the hicap pistols. Turned out to be a good purchase, it's very accurate, holds 16 in the clip, has never jammed on me, and made me look pretty good at the range on lots of occasions. It is a bit heavy, but at 6'-7" and 325# so am I.
If you are ever around Knox. I'll be glad to let you try it.

Try putting a pair of rubber grips on it. Either Hogue or Pachmyer should have something to fit your gun. A set of these can make a complete change in the fit of your gun. They aren't pretty but for what you are going to use it for,they do a nice job.

Haven't been to Morristown, but I have been to Hog Valley Club in White Pine. Seemed like they were welcome to newcomers. I took my 12 year old who is interested in joining the elementary school trap team.
I still have culture shock coming from Florida with this idea. Even the mere mention or drawing of a gun at school could get you expelled by the twisted panty administrators. Wish I could have moved many moons ago!

Don't rule out the Bersa .380. Shot one for the first time the other day. Reasonable price, decent accuracy and about $300 cheaper than a Walther. Worth a look.

I am definitely not the expert, but if I am reading the book right, it is somewhere between 1955-1959. The model I think is 1953 .22/32 kit gun. Value I am guessing in the $300-$350 range. Don't go on my word alone though. Like I said, I am not the expert. I am sure someone more knowledgable than me will jump in. If they don't I'll post this on the S&W forum for you. Usually it does take a day or so to get signed on. Did you check your mailguard/spam filters? Sometimes they will boot out your confirmation email.

If you open the cylinder and look on the crane, is there a number stamped there? Most likely 34. Does the serial number have a letter prefix? All these will help narrow down the year and value for you.

I had one just traded it for a keltec p3at and a fistfull of cash (about $450). Why? I have a para .45 that is roughly the same size and weight, if I wanted to carry a .380 I wanted one to throw in the pocket and head to town. If you haven't used it trade up for something you will use.
