  1. I called this number yesterday 1-800-672-3888 option 3. Was on hold for about 40 minutes. They guy answered took my current member number. Must use credit/debit card for $300.00. No sponsor. Took about three minutes.

Same here. As I understand anyone can upgrade or join as a life member for that price at least until the 28th of this month. I upgraded on Thursday. Occasionally you might be told. "All circuits are busy" which is awesome.
  2. The Huffington Post is reporting the huge outpouring of NRA membership is due to the lifetime membership discount.  It might play a part, but I think there is more than the discount in play.  I looked at it as an opportunity to upgrade at a discount and still support the cause.  I just don't know if folks that have never been members would be so moved simply because of the lifetime membership.

NRA Membership Spike May Be Driven By Huge Discount

"While some gun owners may feel jittery about the prospects of new legislation, the NRA is also giving them another incentive to join its organization. Since December, the group has been running a major discount membership campaign. The Huffington Post called up the hotline and was offered some impressive deals."

  3. D3vo is now a new lifetime member of the NRA (upgraded from 5 year annual).

Everything Will said is correct and let me add a few things.

I called 1-877-NRA-2000 and the woman I spoke with told they had a $600 special.  I looked at one of the other TGO threads and found 1-800-672-3888 option 3 and after waiting for 17 minutes spoke to an NRA representative.  He explained they are having a lifetime membership offering until February 28, 2013 for $300.  This is not a lifetime membership sponsor offer.  You will not be asked for anyone's lifetime number.

  4. I am free market all the way and that doesn't stop when it suits me.  It's protrayed as if we have members who don't know the price of a loaf of bread.  Even before this panic there have been firearms way over priced and they sit.  That is still the case today unless someone wants it bad.

TGO is not an open market?  I suspect the answer to that is it is an open market to the members who have paid to be Benefactors.

The first three words of most of the objections to name your own price were I don't think, I will not and I also hate.  All of these start with I.

It's between the buyer and seller and it's natural to form a member opinion based on firearm price.  I have some opinions of my own which stay my own.

  5. In my history here I have seen more people chastised for "price policing". I have understood the policy to be you can ask anything you want. It's up to the buyer to nogatiate their best deal or not buy at all. If this policy has changed I must have missed it.

  6. My pockets aren't big enough for the CM9. Its small as any 9mm that comes to mind. I switch between the Glock 26 and CM9. The Glock is surprising light for its size and capacity. So much so it's not a big jump from the G26 to the G19 which I also carry.
