ACU:
Pants: Fly Buttoned, Cargo pockets Velcro or button depending on manufacturer
Top: Zipper in the front, pockets are all velcro
BDU's: All button's.
I would recommend the BDU's for your purpose. The Velcro on the ACU's wears out quickly and opening them makes a lot of noise.
If you ever make it up to the Clarksville area there are tons of surplus stores that have plenty of serviceable BDU's for decent prices.

Where are you guys going shooting at next weekend. I was going to get some range time next weekend anyways so if you would like i can bring a shield to you guy's for her to try.

I think the driver handled it well given the circumstances. About the only thing i would have done differently is rapidly ventilate the guy hitting the car with the helmet at the end.

This shutdown will also kill. Military pensions and disability payments.
If that includes any of you the VA said it will go bankrupt in 2-3 weeks if they pay those checks out to people with no income from the gooberment. So they said if it lasts longer than 2-3 weeks, they won't pay out.I do not know where you got your information from, but it is wrong. Below is a link for the VA on what will and will not be impacted by a shut down.

Well we can cancel the naming convention. Apparently I should have added houdini to the list of names. She pushed her way out through a week spot in my chain link fence this evening while i was at school. I'm going to have to go through and stake some spots down. I really hope she finds her way to people who will take good care of her. She was a little rambunctious, but a really sweet dog.

I already consider her part of the pack. Shes a 1 year old lab mix that is black. There the most common dog in the shelter for a reason. Their adoption rates are far below their birth rates. I know we will have a hard time placing her.. She is going to go up on the clarksville humane society page in a few days, but ill gladly take care of her til she finds her forever home. If we end up being her forever home, then that is ok to.

[/URL]Tuesday evening another dog made its way to our home. Im not sure why my house is a magnet for dogs, but i've found over a dozen dogs in my yard in the last 2 years. Almost all of them have been dogs that got loose in the neighborhood. I am very much a dog person and i run with my golden retriever through our neighborhood regularly so i recognize almost every dog in the area. Most of the ones i have found i can take right back to their door step. The rest the owners are usually out looking for.
There have only been two that did not fit that general rule. I found them both at the same time and we fostered them for several months before the were adopted out. Seperately unfortunately.
This girl seems to be in the same category. No tags, no chip, no lost dog ads, or signs in the neighborhood. No response to signs i put up saying we found her. Me and my neighbors agree that she is probably a drop off.
Now the real problem. The wife and i cant agree on a name for her. We have tossed around Autumn, Sadi, Lucy, and Nada. As well as i suggested Waya and i like it but the wife is adamant on that one.
It's likely she will be with us for a while so i want to find a name that fits her.

With all those features mentioned, you would think there would be at least some mention of if the jacket keeps you warm.

Let em, If a bunch of idiots want to get away from the rest of the society and move into a dying town in the middle of no where more power to them. I wish more hate groups would follow their lead and get away from the rest of us.
Check out the town on Google earth. It looks like its about 10 blocks total size and in the middle of nothing. No wonder the town is dying.

They may have a legitimate complaint. If the excessive noise levels deprive them of enjoyment of their property or decrease their properties value then it is a legitimate complaint.

coating the spring and the tube with a dry film lubricant will get rid of a lot of the noise for you. Like Mac said if you want it completely gone get one of the JP silent springs.

I'll wait till all the information is compiled, but from what i have gathered so far at some point early in police response it transitioned from an Active shooter to a barricaded subject. Response protocols change at that time.
This is a big if, but If there were other units on scene and the shooter was contained Ie barricaded himself in, then there is nothing necessarily wrong with standing down the CERT guys so that the can be sent to other areas of the capital being placed on lock-down.
Remember CERT was one of the first units on scene. What exactly does one of the first units there mean. We do not know who else was already there or what there capabilities were.

Can you show a picture of one, so we better know what your talking about. In my mind i'm seeing an out door fireplace, which assuming its maintained shouldn't be a problem.
I wonder if something weird is going on inside the system and acting like a gasification unit trapping the wood gasses and then allowing them to be ignited. Either that or there is trapped air somewhere in the system

Another general question. does it lock back on the last shot.
It's odd because your brass ejection is indicative of short stroking (Usually a result of being under gassed) But the recoil you describe is typical of an over-gassed gun.
It is possible for an over gassed gun to cause short stroking. It's similar to short stroking cause by over pressure rounds. When the round is fired the rapid expansion of gasses causes the round to expand and grip on the chamber walls. If enough gas reaches the carrier before the case pressures have lowered enough it will stick in the chamber slightly. Causing wasted energy in the carrier. By the time the pressures drops enough for the round to come loose you have lost a lot of your gas, causing it to short stroke like an under gassed gun. It may also increase felt recoil.
Pistol length systems have a higher pressure in general because the entire process is taking place sooner.
You should still notice a difference between fully closed and fully open on the gas block. Holes with one opening will usually be tapered at the end, because the tap itself is tapered. So the taper is not necessarily a problem. It is only a problem if the hole wasn't drilled deep enough for screw to cover the port on the barrel.
With it off tighten the screw all the way down, does it completely cover the opening where the gas enters the gas block?

I'd take it of and inspect both the gas setting screw and the threads inside. You may have a bur that makes it feel like its in a lower gas position when its really not.
It also may not be tapped far enough.
With it off place a small punch or nail in the end where the screw goes and determine how far back the drilled hole goes. Then do the same thing with the screw putting it as far in as it will go, see if there is a difference between the two lengths

I think there is room in the market for a walking dead spinoff and it could be an extremely good show. I like that it wont be constrained by the comic and may allow for a lot more character development. Maybe we will finally get to see the start of the outbreak.

The PRS stocks are pricey I would imagine you could probably trade that one for just about whatever you want. I didn't realize just how heavy they were till i looked it up. 1.8 is pounds for the stock. That's a full pound over most of the lighter options.
I guess its really up to you in the end, but i wonder for your application of it would be better to deal with carrying the extra pound in the rear of the gun. In theory it should improve overall balance of the rifle and reduce felt recoil(=faster follow up shots). Really up to you in the end, but i would probably leave it as is until after the first hunt to see how much i liked or disliked it.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I would like to say all service members are responsible enough, but this sadly is not the case. There are times where it is necessary to be loud and aggressive with a subordinate, i would prefer not to have to worry about them being armed at the time.
You have the military tag under your screen name so i'm sure you realize that the majority of the military are not as proficient in firearms as some would like to believe.
I would be completely in agreement on allowing those with a carry permit to carry on the installation when in a non duty status (just like about every other place in the US) I'm just not completely sold on carrying while at work.
I can't believe I am about to even suggest this, but i wonder if allowing the service member to carry their POW at work in a green status with a loaded mag in a pouch would be doable. Not that this discussion matters much because we all know it ain't likely to ever happen
Edited to add: after a little critical thinking exorcize and a little self head slap i can not find an articulate reasonable argument against allowing permit holders to carry even in uniform. I am not removing my previous comment because it may still have value to the discussion. I'm still not sure how comfortable i am with it, but my personal comfort level means squat in the grand scheme of things.

Every county is a little different in how they run their reserve deputy program and if they even have one. I'm honestly not sure about Macon county as i live in Montgomery county. I looked at the Macon SD website, but it is a horrible site. I would suggest inquiring directly.

I know there is a newer AR style stock adapter for the SU16 line, are you talking about the same thing or a new product in their line. Haven't heard anything about a new MSR from kel tec.

It's pretty standard stuff that members with any LE background are familiar with, but it may be helpful for others. The victim running at the officers would place him in the active aggression category. A impact weapon or conducted energy would have been sufficient in handling the situation.
Way to many police officers are drawing their gun way to early in a possible confrontation. I understand it is a dangerous job, but some critical thinking has to be applied to choosing the right tool. When your pistol is out and someone rushes you you don't have time to switch to another tool and make a snap decision to use the one in your hand.
It sucks for a couple of reasons. Most importantly an innocent man is dead. Secondarily an individual who most likely meant to do good ended up killing someone and will likely go to prison(As he should). It's a training deficiency that is all to common today for some reason. Hopefully this department reviews their use of force training. It's likely they will since they had the integrity to charge the officer responsible and admit that it was a bad shoot.

Amber Alert Website shutdown but Let's Move still up!

From my understanding is the Amber alert service was not shut down just the DOJ Amber Alert information website. Amber Alerts are primarily a locally ran conducted in partnership with the center for missing and exploited children (whose site never went down as another poster mentioned). The DOJ site is apparently back up and running now, but it was taken down due to a furlough of IT personnel. Leaving it open with no IT personnel monitoring it would have left the DOJ open for cyber attacks.
