  1. I have a diabetic dog. First you need to get on grain free food.   Yes always twice a day for shots, vetsilun runs me $43 a bottle. I have a 36lb schnauzer.  So with special food, insulin, needles. It cost me about $100 a month total.  Of course bigger dog will cost more. And as stated above she is now blind but gets around good.

Would love to see a pic of the Ballard!

Robertson's is open to the public?  I thought they closed their storefront and sold strictly online.

You have to call ahead and tell them the gun/gun’s you want to see and they will have them out for when you show up, there is no store front it is pretty much a warehouse setup.  No random walk-in.

  4. Let me get Graycrait to chime in.  I shot his with grip safety and it functioned flawless and very minimal recoil.

I need just enough accuracy so that I can at least stay in Plinker4life's "rear view mirror" when we are shooting saltine crackers at LBL.  If he gets too high a cracker count over me I get discouraged:)

Ol' graycrait can shoot pretty good. And can man handle a ultralight S&W .357 snubbie like a BOSS.

  6. I am also familiar with PCP air rifles. You may have to go with a Fireman style SCBA tank setup as they will fill to 4500psi. The Sumatra air gun you have chosen will need to be filled to 3000-3300 psi. I dont Know if there are any SCUBA tanks rated for at least 3500psi?  I believe the  fill pressure on the crosman target gun is around 2000psi and that is why you can use a standard SCUBA tank to fill with.

  7. Check eBay for used scba 60min 4500psi tanks..... just remember if they are greater than 15 years old they are no longer able to be filled and require hydro testing every 5 years. You can find a good used tank for around $150 and a good fill setup is about $160 from expert HPA, this will get you about 60 full fills. The air Venturi tank for $300 new will only net you about 14 refills.

  8. I went with an SSP (single stroke pneumatic) so I didn't have to worry about having extra air with me.  Mine is designed for 10m shooting, so it depends what you want to do with it as well.   I bought it to play with in my basement.  I have suppressors if I need to shoot anything outdoors close to the house.
I just bought this FWB 601.  It is in the process of getting a stock refinish to a darker stain as I am not into the light stocks.

Checking to see if we have any avid air rifle hunters on this forum? I own two FX rifles, 25 cal Impact, 25 cal wildcat and a 22 cal Benjamin Marauder.

I hear and see a lot of good things about the impact. Just could not justify the cost. I almost went with a Wildcat, but I picked up a FX Streamline because I am not real crazy about bullpups and streamline has adjustable power.  Very happy so far with my purchase.

  10. Any of you guys shooting PCP airguns?  I finally bit the bullet and jumped head first into PCP airgun's  and really like the results so far.

The good is quality ammo is cheap and available. The guns are very Quiet and powerful.

The not so good so far is expensive set up.And hand pumping, but will be saving up for a bulk tank in the near future.

Current setup is a .22 FX Streamline w/ATHLON ARGOS  8-34x56  FFP.

P.S.may have Graycrait hooked also after a short plinking session today.

The guys I used to shoot "custom" 1022s with generally look at shooting off the bench:  25yrds has to be 1/4" or smaller, 50yrds 1/2", 100 yrds 1" and 200 yards 2". I am blind and cheap (no good spotting scope) so went shooting 2" saltine crackers 200 yrds.  We now call them "cracker guns" if we can put one together we can shoot relatively fast and bust successive saltines at 185-200yrds.

Like Graycrait stated there is a certain unexplained satisfaction of busting saltine cracker's on a 185-200 yard berm. Make's you giggle on the inside. I'm successful in hitting them 60% of the time. And also have a .22 setup for this sole purpose.

  12. I have polished out a receiver. I tried scotch brite wheels , they do ok but still ended up hand sanding with 600-800-1000 grit with wd-40 then finished off with mothers polish and a powerball.

Good luck on finding a donor receiver... If you have a FFL that will not charge a arm and leg you can order a stripped ruger receiver from shooters discount for around $110.
