  1. need a little more info on what happened: 1) you say gas gauge died what exactly do you mean? did it just stop reading or what? also after putting gas in is it reading correctly?  2) what type of ignition electronic or points 3) did it miss and sputter or die like you cut the key off 4) I would NEVER recommend spraying starter fluid into a gasoline engine just asking for heart ache and misery. best way to find vacuum leak is to keep intake system closed and use an acetylene torch and turn gas on low and move over line ,fitting and suspect joints. do a small area at a time so don't flood area and get false reaction. engine will rev when leak found. also much safer 5) what kind of fuel pump are you running and inline electric add-on? have you checked fuel pressure and volume at the carb?  6) is your choke working properly 7) I would not spend too much time on trans if it was working ok before this gas issue. if engine cannot develop enough rpms or power the trans is not going to shift correctly. 8) the gas gauge dying and running out of fuel leads me to think possible electrical issue. bad ground , ect. this could explain all your issues.

  2. I just looked at my sons lcr in 357 and cant get it to do what yours does no matter what I do. have you cleaned and lubed the gun per Ruger instructions. i wonder if it may have pocket lint hung some where. If cleaned and lubed properly I would be on phone with Ruger tomorrow. how many rounds do you have through the gun. both my sons own lcr's so i'm wondering if we should be on the watch for this issue.

  3. the engineering department is looking into the problem and a solution? I figure a $60,000 engineering study should come to a workable solution. move the stripes in all lane 10 inches to the left and repaint.

  4. 1) R-19 is the common insulation used for crawl spaces

    2) install vapor barrier up toward floor

    3) install vapor barrier on crawl space floor if dirt after insulation is installed

    4) use calk to seal any gaps or holes in floor before installing insulation

    5) I close my vents when the temps fall below 40*

    6) be sure to wear some type of breathing protection when working with insulation

    7) the walls, not the floor ceiling, are normally insulated on unvented crawl spaces. I wonder if the vents were added after the house was built?

  5. I have had carpet installed by lowes. they subcontract out. I was satisfied with the service I got from lowes. I think now I would look for someone to contract with myself and cut out the middle guy. when I see someone getting work done I stop get names for services I may need in the future. I did this with some drywall work I needed and it worked out great.

  6. I think we need a bit more info here. were the magpul sights zeroed and shooting true before you installed the aimpoint? my thought is to always get my iron sights zeroed before working on the reddots. are you doing a true co-witness or doing the bottom third? if the iron sights were shooting true I would look at a possible mismount on the aimpoint. what is the difference on target between the iron sights and the aimpoint? I would do the following in this situation

    1) remove aimpoint

    2) do mechcanical zero on front and rear sight

    3) zero at desired yardage

    4) remount aimpoint ( pushing forward as you torque mounting screws)

    5) zero aimpoint at same yardage

  7. i would advise the wife not to say the weapon is loaded. i just give an officer my dl and permit without comment. all they have ever asked was were was the weapon located. to my way of thinking any time a weapon comes out of the holster the chances for a discharge , negligent or otherwise , goes up especially trying to unload it in a car. this situation seems to have decreased officer and civilian safety as opposed to increasing it. i might contact the chief of the pd and ask about the safety of this procedure and perhaps he can make it make sense.  don't be argumentative but come across as a concerned citizen seeking clarification on the matter.

  8. NRA Gun Safety Rules
    NRA Gun Safety Rules
    Available as a brochure

The fundamental NRA rules for safe gun handling are:

graphic1.jpg 1. ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
This is the primary rule of gun safety. A safe direction means that the gun is pointed so that even if it were to go off it would not cause injury or damage. The key to this rule is to control where the muzzle or front end of the barrel is pointed at all times. Common sense dictates the safest direction, depending on different circumstances. guide2.jpg 2. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
When holding a gun, rest your finger on the trigger guard or along the side of the gun. Until you are actually ready to fire, do not touch the trigger. guide3.jpgguide4.jpg 3. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
Whenever you pick up a gun, immediately engage the safety device if possible, and, if the gun has a magazine, remove it before opening the action and looking into the chamber(s) which should be clear of ammunition. If you do not know how to open the action or inspect the chamber(s), leave the gun alone and get help from someone who does.

When using or storing a gun, always follow these NRA rules:

    • Know your target and what is beyond.
Be absolutely sure you have identified your target beyond any doubt. Equally important, be aware of the area beyond your target. This means observing your prospective area of fire before you shoot. Never fire in a direction in which there are people or any other potential for mishap. Think first. Shoot second.

    • Know how to use the gun safely.
Before handling a gun, learn how it operates. Know its basic parts, how to safely open and close the action and remove any ammunition from the gun or magazine. Remember, a gun's mechanical safety device is never foolproof. Nothing can ever replace safe gun handling.

    • Be sure the gun is safe to operate.
Just like other tools, guns need regular maintenance to remain operable. Regular cleaning and proper storage are a part of the gun's general upkeep. If there is any question concerning a gun's ability to function, a knowledgeable gunsmith should look at it.

    • Use only the correct ammunition for your gun.
Only BBs, pellets, cartridges or shells designed for a particular gun can be fired safely in that gun. Most guns have the ammunition type stamped on the barrel. Ammunition can be identified by information printed on the box and sometimes stamped on the cartridge. Do not shoot the gun unless you know you have the proper ammunition.

    • Wear eye and ear protection as appropriate.
Guns are loud and the noise can cause hearing damage. They can also emit debris and hot gas that could cause eye injury. For these reasons, shooting glasses and hearing protectors should be worn by shooters and spectators.

    • Never use alcohol or over-the-counter, prescription or other drugs before or while shooting.
Alcohol, as well as any other substance likely to impair normal mental or physical bodily functions, must not be used before or while handling or shooting guns.

    • Store guns so they are not accessible to unauthorized persons.
Many factors must be considered when deciding where and how to store guns. A person's particular situation will be a major part of the consideration. Dozens of gun storage devices, as well as locking devices that attach directly to the gun, are available. However, mechanical locking devices, like the mechanical safeties built into guns, can fail and should not be used as a substitute for safe gun handling and the observance of all gun safety rules.

    • Be aware that certain types of guns and many shooting activities require additional safety precautions.

    • Cleaning
Regular cleaning is important in order for your gun to operate correctly and safely. Taking proper care of it will also maintain its value and extend its life. Your gun should be cleaned every time that it is used.

A gun brought out of prolonged storage should also be cleaned before shooting. Accumulated moisture and dirt, or solidified grease and oil, can prevent the gun from operating properly.

Before cleaning your gun, make absolutely sure that it is unloaded. The gun's action should be open during the cleaning process. Also, be sure that no ammunition is present in the cleaning area.

Like i thought the NRA has this covered. We all believe in gun retention and part of that IS securing your firearms even at home. WE HAVE SEEN THE ENEMY AND HE IS US. If you are a NRA member it might be useful to review their gun safety rules.

  9. I bought a 700 adl from dicks a while back. I never shot it stock as I intended to convert to a bdl. Bought a bell and Carlson stock and very happy with it. No bedding needed. Have since added timney trigger. Mine has the 26 inch heavy barrel. Very pleased with the results. Highly recommend bell and Carlson stock. Bought stock from red hawk rifles. Very good people to deal with and prices good.
  10. http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/news-general/20131024/US--Obama-Immigration/

I would think that after the government shutdown and all the crying about the economic damage to the economy it did that Obama would show some leadership and focus on a national budget. the next budget crises is only weeks or months away so why doesn't he focus on that and resolve it before moving on to something else. he must have an attention span of about 30 minutes or he plans to finish this term going from one crises to the next. how can you deadline immigration reform for the end of the year when you don't even know if the money will be there to make it work? Oh guess I forgot for Obama programs don't have to work just get them implemented. why doesn't the media , republicans , tea party or somebody hold this guy to the task at hand and that's getting our financial house in order. I would be willing to bet that the u.s. will not have a fiscal budget for the rest of this guys term.

  11. I don't know about race wars in the future but I do know about the present. I know the black guys I work with come to work everyday, work hard while they are there and treat me with respect. I know the black folks that live in my neighborhood keep their yards nice, discipline their kids and stop and talk when I'm in the yard. I know the black folks I go to church with have dreams, hopes, fears and disappointments just like I do. I know that I'm not to concerned with the future because I'm trying to treat my fellow man the way I want to be treated. All I know is the black folk I see everyday are just trying to make a decent life for themselves and their families.

I know that black gangs that attack white people are just thugs and criminals. I know that white gangs that attack black people are just thugs and criminals. I know we need more good white and black police to catch and lock up these thugs. I know we need more good black and white judges that will send these criminals to prison for their crimes. I know we need more white and black prison guards to work these criminals on chain gangs from sun up to sun down. I know we need more black and white voters who will make the hard choices to make this happen.

I know that these theories of gloom and doom always seem to come from the wealthy and intellectual elites that live off the public tit. I know these theories come from people who have never had to work from the sweat of their brows to just get by let alone get ahead in this life. I know that if those of us both black and white that have to live together in the " real world" don't unite and voice our unity these talking heads will keep spreading their poison. I know I will take one of my black friends to lunch this week just to show Sewell he doesn't know what he's talking about. I know that blacks and whites can live together in peace and harmony but not by the teaching of the intellectual elites. I know our lives of peace and harmony can only come through the teachings of Jesus.

  12. Is this a gas pack outside? The first issue is to find out where the water is coming from. No need to replace or repair and still have water issue. You can find a cheap unit for that price but probably not worth it in the long run. Repair vs replacement will most likely depend on the age of the unit. If unit is ten or more years in age your most likely better off replacing . I would guess that the heat exchangers are bad rather than the burners . You can replace a burner fairly cheaply but the heat exchangers are a different story. The term control panel can mean a lot of different things. Make sure your second opinion is very specific about which electrical parts are bad. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

  13. Something we all need to be reminded of from time to time in regards to a hand gun carry permit 1) in a life or death situation when we pull our hand gun we must be willing to shoot and 2) if we feel we must shoot we shoot until the threat is stopped. if any doubt about this we probably don't need a handgun carry permit.
