    Ruger LC9

The April 2011 edition of GUN TESTS magazine has a 7 page detailed comparsion between the Keltec PF9 and the Ruger LC9. Long story short: The Keltec has an A rating. The heavier, more expensive copycat Ruger LC9 received a C rating. Just enough changes to stay out of court.
  2. Yeah, and dummies like me that start threads!
  3. I know this is not the appropriate forum but close enough. It does involve "handgun" ammo. Went to Wally World today and for the first time in months I was limited to 6 boxes. The guy said they were informed, of the limit, over the last couple of days. "Slow to get it in." Anyone know anything about this. I did an internet search and an article was posted for the Wall Street Journal that sales of guns are up 12.7% the first quarter of this year. Highest in three years. Hence, a run on ammo. 4. OK guys, After all the foreplay, that leads to our ultimate weapon of choice, what about holsters? Outside the Waist Band, Commander size. Let the fun begin! Thanks in advanced.

    1911's

And the verdict is: Kimber Eclipse Pro II

    1911's

You guys "Rock!" When I buy a gun, I purchase with intent to keep it. And shoot. I would certainly be interested in a 5" barrel. I have small hands and have found the Commander size really feels good, grip wise. I suppose I could change the grips out to something thinner on the full size gun. Basically, I'm looking for a good reliable, comfortable shooter. Notice Wilson and Les Baer are not on the list. This is not about designer guns. This is for shooting pleasure, and novelty. Not necessarily for carry. I have guns for that. I've never owned a 1911 and am intrigued. Regular or nights sights sites are also my preference. And yes, the nights sights are lovely for looking at the pretty colors glow in the dark. Kinda like a night light! The other currrent 1911 thread, "But which 1911 ????" is also on target with my inquiries. I have read about RIA and have interest, as with any reliable, quality built gun, but have not had the opportunity to get my hands on one. I suppose an internet search, for a local dealer, would have some merit.

    1911's

Anyone have any opinions on the following 1911's? I like the feel of each. Also, thoughts on resale. Probably only use for shooting. Minimal carry. All of these guns feel great in my hand and are in the same general price range. Kimber Eclipse II - the heaviest of the three. Kimber Pro Carry II * With Night Sights? * With Crimson Trace? Springfield Champion All in 4 inch barrels. I'm sure I know the answer to this but let's ask anyway: Would there be a tremendous different in recoil between a 28oz gun and a 35oz gun? I mean, "that" noticeable? Thanks guys, Steve
  9. Pending we don't get an ice storm, I'm bringing three newbies!
  10. So, in a qualifier match, if you use a SSP (CZ 75b), it would be to your advantage to stay with SSP classification because of the more lenient time categories, as opposed to ESP categories (time brackets), i.e Novice, Marksman, Sharpshooter, etc. Correct?
  11. Alright. As usual, I'm still confused. Can you believe it ... I am still not clear on the difference between SSP and ESP. Except: 1) SSP is double action first shot, double only or safe action. 2) There is a weight difference. So ... Is the Springfield XDM an ESP? The CZ 75b an SSP? (double action first shot) Also, during competition, is there a difference in load capacity? SSP at 10+1 and 10 in extras mags? Would ESP be difference in mag capacity?
  12. I do not have your exact models but I do have a CZ 75b and a Springfield XDM both in 9mm. They're both awesome. I've had the XDM (Enhanced Service pistol) for a few months and have shot it a lot. One of my best shooters. I've had the CZ (Standard Service pistol) for a couple of weeks and have been out once (going again tomorrow). Very accurate. Fun to shoot. To me the CZ has a better sight picture. It is heavy but that's what I wanted since this is not my carry weapon. Cool gun. Can't say enough good things about it. The only thing I changed was the grip. No complains. Many great, well deserved reviews.
  13. I have a Gemtech Outback II for my Walther P22. It's awesome.
  14. Any opinions on the optimal choke and shot size for 3 guns competition?
  15. Ghost rings .... I am obviously learning. I suppose I should re-think? I figured they aided in sight acquistion. Thanks for the in"sights," I am going to see Brian right now!
  16. Yes. I am interested in using it for three gun. Also, any suggestion on accessories. I will get a gun with ghost sights. Any other considerations? Pistol Grip? Ported? Thanks for you time. Any information and opinions are appreciated.
  17. Ok folks. The tactical shotgun bug has bitten! Any recommendations between these two shotguns? I'm looking at a couple that run about the same price.
  18. Spicey! Thanks all. Good stuff! I appreciate your suggestions.
  19. I was at my first IDPA match today and learned that I need a concealment vest. Anyone have any suggestions on brand, etc? Thanks. P.S. Noboby suggested, required or insinuated that I purchase a vest. I am interested in one.
