  1. We just got some in the other day Rock River Arms - Mid-Length Wraparound Quad Rail Forearm They are pretty neat. We didn't get any carbine lengths in stock at this time. We've been selling 10X more specter/rifle/midlength than carbine lengths recently. There seems to be a big change in the market for what gas systems people are buying and which handguard length are "in".
  2. I wouldn't shoot it through any of MY guns, just to be safe, but could be done in a pinch in a survival mode I suppose. You can buy 250 "cut" slugs for ~$60/flat. Much cheaper than slugs I suppose. I'll stick to my federal tactical low recoil slugs for my use though.
  3. Street price should be ~$650 based on what I'm seeing from distributors who already have it in their system.
  4. The Taurus TCP 380's are a pretty decent deal and have 2 magazines. We sell just as many of them as the LCP's.
  5. We just got in stock today the LAR Grizzly "Terminator" 22LR and LAR Grizzly Sidecharge 5.56 Uppers. We got some sample 22LR Terminator uppers in about 3 weeks back and liked them enough to order in some for retail sales. The side charge billet 5.56 uppers are very nice! I have a feeling one is going to be pulled into my personal collection for suppressed use
  6. I wouldn't touch the forward assist to FORCE anything in the chamber unless it's a life or death emergency. I personally have forward assists on all of my AR's but would get one without in a heartbeat. I like having a dustcover on all of mine and it's a much more important feature IMO for a civilian AR15
  7. Better than the odds of winning if you don't "like" it!
  8. I like my PLR-16, but it's awful loud without the supressor! I use a Griffin M4SD Comp on mine. It keeps muzzle rise to nill. It increases the concussion a bit, but not nearly as much as the Keltec muzzle brake did. Supressed (Griffin Armament M4SD supressor) it is awesome. Works well with the Magpul AFG2 and sling combo and the supressor. It takes it down to a hearing protection safe level and is more fun to shoot. I really like the piston driven aspect on pistols as it makes the OAL of the firearm MUCH shorter. My 7.5" barreled 300 Whisper upper I just built is the same OAL with buffer tube as my PLR 16 with a LONGER barrel.
  9. Came across this last night on the Griffin page: Griffin Facebook Page: "Like" Griffin Armament on FB and get a chance at a free suppressor. Can't beat free
  10. Correct. You can replace the FCG with any mil spec FCG.
  11. Looks good! We sell quite a few of the EGW bases! Nice bases with a nice price.
  12. Do you need the cell #? I was an Aircraft Structural Repairman (primarily Blackhawks) in the Army National Guard. I've never touched an aircraft in my civilian life. I suppose you don't always use your military training in the "real world" except for forum posts .
  13. Standard forged/billet lowers are generally made with 7075 T-6 aircraft grade aluminum alloy. This isn't anything crazy strong, just standard aluminum with a T6 hardness. This is relatively strong, but just more or less a "standard" aluminum. Many aircraft's structural skin is made up of ~.032-.040" thick T6 alum.
  14. Thanks Jeff! We always appreciate the business AND our prices are upfront The Minimum Advertised Price for Plum Crazy lowers is $119.95. If he's selling them for $125 he could advertise it with any media, or tell people on the phone without fear of manufacturers being upset. Sounds a little... We got cleaned out for the most part this week, but do have a couple Plum Crazy Lowers ($119.95 w/ free ship) left at this time. We have another shipment that's supposed to hit us ~ end of next week with more. For the money, they really are hard to beat and the triggers are on par or better than many OEM mil-spec triggers like the Bushmaster, DPMS, etc.
  15. The biggest advantage of the 1pieces over 2 piece bases is helping eliminate any deviation between the two bases which could cause damage to a scope if they are far enough off with being slightly misdrilled. The other advantage is to get built in MOA adjustment. Bang for your buck, the EGW 1-piece bases will probably be the best bet. Above that, Seekins, Badger Ordnance, Ken Farrel, etc, etc. Some are aluminum (EGW for sure) and other higher end ones are steel. IMO, there really isn't the need for anything stronger than 6061 or 7075 T6 alum, but some people out there want steel bases.
  16. I wouldn't say the forged upper receiver has much bearing on accuracy. The barrel/extension should play a much bigger part. If the JSE uppers have the "keyhole" then it is the same base forged upper as used by Spike's, Rock River, etc. The stripped upper isn't where you make or break your build, but in the barrel and BCG. You should have a decent setup out of the gate!
  17. I would not lump Daniel Defense, BCM, Spike's, etc into the "commercial" category. These are all higher end, tactically geared AR-15's not the "mainstream" DPMS, Bushmaster, Olympic Arms, etc. I meant the "standard" AR-15 that you would normally pickup in Dick's Sporting Goods or that most people actually buy will most likely not be individually HPT/MPI tested and possibly not even batch tested. Internet buyers are a different story, as they are more knowledgeable and research the topics to squeeze more out of their money. While I agree you will gain better terminal ballistics, buck wind better, etc with a faster bullet out of a longer barrel I don't believe it is nearly as important in a caliber such as 223. 204, and other similar calibers are much more sensitive to barrel length and velocity loss. I don't think for the average hunter, it will matter. Long range shooters wouldn't even consider a 16" barrel, nor 1:9 twist most likely, so they are lumped into their own category, IMO. A carry gun is entirely different in nature, expectations, and size than a bench gun, long range shooter, or varmint gun.
  18. Good to know. Most "commercial" AR15's generally don't. Velocity is barrel length dependent, but accuracy is not. Barrel profile/free floating WILL help accuracy. I would personally rather have a ~heavy match 16-18" barrel for a stiffer heavier profile, shorter barrel. Obviously there are more or less accurate barrels within each barrel profile depending on chamber specs and QC.
  19. If you are wanting an "upgraded" BCG the Spike's Tactical Nickel Boron BCG is our best selling BCG even with the cost. They are self-lubricating (similar to or made by Fail Zero) and individually HPT and MPI tested. I don't know if the DPMS BCG's are, honestly.
  20. I wouldn't get a pinned flash hider as noted unless you're REALLLLLLY certain you'll never want to change muzzle attachments, or handguards, or.... Spike's Tactical Mid Length BAR Uppers These are our most popular uppers, and we have a couple leftover from our last shipment that arrived just the other day. More geared towards the tactical crowd obviously. While not bad uppers, JSE's are definitely on the cheaper end on the quality scale. One of the employees here built one a few years back off one of their basic carbine uppers and it has held up well, but doesn't have any sort of high round count. Maybe 500 rounds through it on the high end. I would go with a 16-18" in 223 Wylde or 5.56. They'll do everything you need most likely. 20" gets to be a bit long at times, IMO. We just started carrying these uppers from Kies Firearms-18" 223 Wylde Uppers w/ linear comp. They are more geared towards our "hunter" market, especially coyote, hog, etc. They have a nano ceramic coated bores and 12 deep flutes under the handguard which cuts down on the weight. Pretty slick setups!
  21. We sell both Mueller Opticsand Vortex Optics. IMO, Mueller offers better bang for your buck for optical clarity/$ versus Vortex. HOWEVER, generally speaking, Vortex's are built a little "tougher" with a better water rating, and VIP warranty. You normally pay a smidgen more for this, IMO, but for some they would prefer to pay a little extra for that. They also have more variety, than Mueller, of course. The Mueller TACII is in a different league than the average $175 mueller scope, and it should be, as it has Japanese glass and is a bit more $$$. We don't sell very many of them in comparison, but everyone that does buy them is very satisfied. It would be a good fit for your purpose, budget, and clarity. We've had customers thrown them on M1 carbines, AR's, etc. This was Mueller's kind of "reaching out" into a newer higher end market, and so far they seem to have been a very good scope. If you wanted to save a little $, the Mueller APT is our second best selling scope and has mil dot's, and 30MM tube. The Vortex's may not have exactly what you want, if you want mil-dot's, as you noticed. The new Vortex Viper HD's will be a good addition once they hit the market for lower powered higher quality optics.
  22. When I operate a charging handle I push my thumb on the backside of the charging handle to relieve pressure off the "hook" of the latch to keep the upper from prematurely wearing out. The steel latch will win in a battle versus the alum upper. It sure won't hurt anything with extra "grip" on the backside if it's wet or you have gloves on.
  23. No offense to Spike's, but they have never been known to be "quick" on most orders. We've always got a bunch of purchase orders in the QUE awaiting to be shipped out.
  24. In regards to charging handles, these new ones we just got in from Kies Firearms are going to be pretty slick. Super beefy billet handle. Hopefully I can convince them to outfit them with Badger Tac latches as well to decrease the cost to the consumer of buying them seperate: Kies Billet Charging Handle:$27.50
  25. Does the gas block have a riser (Similar to this YHM Gas Block Riser) to get it on the same plane as the rear backup sights?
