He is only doing what he has found he can get away with. I don't like it but I also don't like the lack of challenge by the "opposition", that being the Republicans and the 4th Estate.

Something similar happened to me recently.... I just blew him a kiss and drove on.

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Tanker. I always look forward to your posts.
Best regards to all,

thanks everyone for the suggestions. I have read quite a few, and look forward to geting into the following: Lights Out, Goin Home Series. Holding their Own series" and 299 Days"
I would like to add the following:
Dog Stars-Peter Heller (story of a pilot and his roughneck neighbor surving after a plague type scenaio)
The Silencer - Bob Zerfing (a UN assisted takeover of the US)
As for my favorites- The Road is incredibly moving, especially if you have a young son. One Second After is brutally detailed and most realistic. I am a huge fan of Rawles, so his whole series is awesome and gives great advice along the way. Patriots was the best by far.
+1 on "The Dog Stars", by Peter Heller. Good story written in a different style. Entertaining.- 1

Can anyone point definitively to when "reparation" language first entered into the conversation?
I'm assuming this is a later development, as I can't see it as having gotten any traction in the post-war South. My comment was tongue in cheek but I haven't heard any serious talk in recent years although the subject does arise from time to time. The most recent mention was about five years ago IIRC. Such compensation in the U.S. won't happen although some proponents occasionally test the "waters", if you know what I mean.
-
So, shall we talk about reparations?

Very happy that no one was injured. Thanks for being man enough to share it and help us all not to get too complacent. Things happen for a reason.

Just how striking the difference in our civilian "leaders" and those honored in the video. Thanks for sharing. It is very moving.

I think Obama has finally been exposed and the media will have to turn to the middle. Harry Reid jumped in the
face of a female reporter babe when she had the audacity to bring up whether or not a child with cancer would
get treated under Obamacare. Obama refuses to negotiate, more of his superiority, and it makes him look like
the fool he is. On some issues, he is slicker than teflon, but this healthcare thing is going to kill his effectiveness
when trying to assert his power in the future. You can only cry racism so many times before it will come back and
bite.
Showing where he stands with this shutdown, and trying to make it hard on Americans when they know better,
will hurt him. All I can say to that is it's about time.
Obama also refuses to negotiate in order to flex what little power he still has. He knows he is a lame duck and will have no further "legacy" legislation or major accomplishments. He has hung his hat on Obamacare and is all in to defend and promote it. Luckily for him he has Reid and the media helping him.
One last point regarding the shutdown, I recall that while the World War II memorial is a national monuent now it was built with private funds.

Saw him at the Opry last year on his 75th birthday. He's a great man and performer.

(Also, I've always wanted to compliment your coded message at the bottom of your posts. Well done.)

Love or hate the New York Times, they've really been stepping up their graphics over the last year or so. Here's one tracking everyone's position on use of military force in Syria.
MacGyer - Thanks for the link... And it was a pleasure to meet you last week.
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2013/09/05/us/politics/syria-vote-tracker.html?_r=0Man I went and opened up that chart at the top and began reading all the different statements made by the different politicians and that is exactly what each answer sounded like. A typical political answer. Some almost made ya want to feel sorry for them for be undecided. If they are so undecided about something this serious what in the heck are they doing in Washington in the first place? When they run for office don't they know up front that things like this may come up and they should be prepared for them?............. :stunned: :stunned:
Bersaguy - I hear what you are saying but what specific policy or strategy are they being asked to support? This didn't just start last month with the use of chemicals. I still cannot understand what our objective is --- tactically or strategically. The stakes are high here and our CINC doesnt seem to have a clue. (Ditto for Kerry.) This is a perfect example of Obama's ineptness, especially as it relates to the Mid East. He encouraged the Arab Spring and was way out front on wanting Mubarak and Qadaffi out, although leading from behind. Why has he been so lame on Syria? For him to now say he didn't draw a red line is simply disingenuous at best. And the Russians and Chinese certainly have no fear of him. But I agree with you that our politicians are weak and only seem to be politically motivated. God help us if something more serious happened that was a true imminent threat to our country. -
When someone like that calls for me by name I just say, "He's in jail for telephone fraud." They will not call you back.

One of my favorites is The Deer Hunter... DeNiro and Christopher Walken in VN along with Meryl Streep as the girl back home.

Priceless.
