  1. That's not the same problem.  The problem you're describing is that you don't have a PayPal account.  You don't need a PayPal account either.

Thanks for the quick reply... Maybe not the same problem but the same result to me - no way to pay you. I'd appreciate advice on a resolution at your convenience.

  2. I have experienced the same problem. Once I click on, "Click here to view or renew your existing purchase" it says money will be taken from my Paypal account and references an "e-check".  I have neither.

    Thanks for any help.

  3. That can't happen.  As any Cub Scout parent knows, Cub Scouts are not allowed to go on overnight camp outs with out a parent or guardian being present.  The rules are very specific and strict.  Cub Scouts cannot become Boy Scouts until they are 11 years old.  Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are entirely two different organizations under the BSA Organization.

Also under BSA organization are Venturing.  Venturing includes young men and WOMEN,14 to 21.  And they do all thing same things Scouting does.  Many Boy Scouts go on to become Venture Scouts and many are both.

Thanks. I thought the older Boy Scouts mentored the younger kids and helped them but wasn't inferring they went out without adult supervision.

I was kicked out of Cub Scouts in 1960 for being a hell raiser. (The last straw was running through the pack mother's new screen door.) Haven't had any contact with them since but I didn't hold any grudges. LOL. Now if I had known about Venturing I might have taken a different approach.
  4. To me the question is not gay vs. straight. It is the right of a non state supported organization to admit who it pleases. I believe the BSA has caved to PC. Why should the NAACP, KKK, BSA, atheists, left handed plumbers or any other organization be forced (either by court decree or public pressure) to admit those it does not like? And why would someone who does not share those organizations' beliefs want to be there other than to poke a stick in their eye? And why are these organizations sometimes forced to accept people who disagree/hate/dispute them? Unfortunately, I don't have the answers. But it really makes me wonder.

I think the BSA decision affects only scouts, not scout leaders. That said, does any parent really want their seven year old at a BSA camp with a 16 year old gay scout? I, for one, wouldn't take the chance. Just my feeling on the issue.

(But I'm unique.... Just like everyone else.)

  5. Probably the very same thing that happens when Congress passes laws that are clearly unconstitutional.

We have at least arguably unconstitutional laws regarding free speech right now...we know we have unconstitutional laws infringing on the second amendment.

The country has an obligation to live up to any treaty it promises to live up to; if we don't then why should any other country expect us to ever live up to any promise we make and if we don't then why should they???

Agree. That's where the judiciary (theoretically) comes in as a check on the legislative. Supreme Court judge changes on this court could have an immense impact on our future should any sitting judges retire or die during the remainder of Obama's second term. I fear we are in a precarious position on both fronts.

  6. "The authorities were alerted,"

This is where the issue got hosed up, imo. Assuming it was a 911 call the dispatcher taking the call, 1) could have asked more about the guy OC'ing to determine just why he was "suspicious" and, 2) explained to the caller that it was legal to carry in Ohio. Seems a minute or two here could have tamped it down. Otherwise just sounds like a nervous store clerk.

As to the issue of how the LEOs responded.... well I think that's been wrung out here.
  7. I lived in Venezuela for a couple of years once. Crime was just starting to get bad. The one thing you really had to be on the watch for was motorcycles. They would drive between lanes of cars stopped in traffic and rob the driver, especially if they saw a nice wristwatch. Usually, there was a second bike on the passenger side, justs a little bit back, that would shoot the driver if he started to grab his gun - everyone has guns in Caracas.

If the perp on the video here had used that tactic the "victim" would have been shot and killed. I have heard the crime rate there now is outta sight.
