Shelby Farms Update

Recommended Posts

In case you don't get the paper, it appears that Shelby Farms park management has been handed over to a non-profit agency Shelby Farms Conservancy. This agency will be allowed to raise PRIVATE funds for the operation of the park.

Looks like it is time to get together in this area to see what we can do about getting the range re-opened. Let us not sit on this one. I plan on finding out who to call on Monday to get the ball rolling. I know there are members here that work for other local ranges, but I don't see how having this one place re-opened would hurt a lot of their business being as this would be the one place in Shelby County where you could shoot those long range rifles with plain old ball ammo.

Who is with me on this? We should talk with the local Friends of the NRA and TFA chapters. I reckon I should join that one too so we can see what we can do. Help me out people, we need this place re-opened.

Okay, so I have her email address. I am going to start working on a draft of an email to send asking for some time to meet and discuss the use of these facilities.

I know there are members here who work for competing companies, though not 100% competing. After all, when was the last time you could use ball ammo in your ar15 at an indoor range?

That being said, give me your wish list and I will see if I can compose it. It appears that the BMX park is maintained and operated by a non-profit organization. We might have to set that up to be able to take money and do everything on the legitimate scale.

Ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
