Old style Dillon tool head stands

Recommended Posts

MODS: If this is in the wrong board, sorry. Move as you see fit.

I have been using a Dillon 550B for about 20 years now. I had all the quick change kits that I needed for all the calibers that I shot most. I always assumed (yes I fully understand the meaning of that word) certain calibers would be available, ie 9mm, 223, 308, etc. Well I ended up needing to reload .380 as well as 9mm. The new tool head stands are made to hold the shell plate and locator buttons. I debated on purchasing more of the new style tool heads till it dawned on me to modify the old ones. Which saved me well over $100. Needless to say, I am rather proud of it.

EDIT: After I posted this I go to thinking, I am NOT wanting to, nor am I trying to sell these. I was just wanting to toss it out there in case someone else was in the same position I was in and to hopefully save them a few pennies.

You are looking at the old style Dillon tool head stands that hold the quick change kit. They now make and sell an aluminum one that has holes and a slot that keeps the locator pins and shellplate. What I did was modify the old style stands to hold the buttons and shellplate. Nothing fancy, but it is user friendly.

The new style
