Email to check status of HCP application

Recommended Posts

Hi folks-

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've seen a lot of posts about calling into Lisa Knight after 30 days or so to get things sped up. I've also seen that it is sometimes very hard to get them to answer the phone.

Yesterday evening I decided to try a different tactic and send an email to Lisa rather than calling for a status. I was very nice and provided my TNDL# and politely asked for a status.

She responded first thing this morning and said it was approved and I will see it in 14 days or less! I sent the application in 35 days ago.

Just an FYI if you are not able to get an answer on the phone - try emailing her instead.

Her email address is:

Lisa.Knight "at" state.tn.us

I did this earlier this year when I was waiting on my HCP. I did it more becasue I had placed a vacation stop on my mail delievery and the USPS couldn't located the held mail. They claimed I had received no mail, not one piece, of mail for 12 days. I thought there was a good chanced the permit was in the misplaced mail. I emailed her regarding the postal issue and she was very promt to respond and also very helpful.

I tried this approach. It didn't work so well for me though, this is what I recieved;

"Please allow ninety (90) days for your permit to be issued. Thanks"

I asked very nicely and give her all my info along with my DL number.

Should I call anyway????

Thanks for all the good read guys,,, and gals!!

I wouldnt email or call her if you just applied... The state has up to 90 days...sometimes (most of the time) it takes less time than that...but they still have 90 days to respond to your app.

I waited at least 8 weeks before calling, and I only called to verify they recieved a letter from the courts I had to send in...I asked about the letter, (didnt even mention the permit) the lady was very nice and said they had recieved the letter, and that my permit app had been processed and it would take 7 days....got my permit 3 days later.

Yea, guess I forgot to mention I am 4 weeks today since submitting my app and getting figerprinted. I thought this would be a nice and polite way of checking on the status.

Guess I will continue to wait,,,,, I should have done this years ago anyway!!:koolaid:
