They were on a flatbed trailer, on, probably, lawn chairs. The Train sounded its horn, the crossing signal was working. It looks like the driver made a wrong decision, 4 veterans and/or veteran family members got killed, and a lot of others are critical and in the hospital.

I feel terrible for the Engineer and Conductor. There was nothing they could do. I feel terrible about the needless loss here. One of my last jobs was to teach safety around railroad tracks. It makes me physically ill when I hear of an event such as this.

Please watch, listen and look both ways. You are too important to be lost like they were. Do not ever try to beat a train, cause it will beat you to death. Edited by HvyMtl

The sad part is that you have to teach a class on safety at railroad tracks. How much intelligence does it take to know that something that weighs 100 tons and is traveling at 35MPH and takes a mile to stop has the right of way? Sounds to me like a stupid driver made a stupid decision and people are dead because of it.

It's always someone stupid or drunk. Never any common sense at a grade crossing accident. No excuse for
putting others at risk like this. Always sad to hear of these things happening. I've hit one vehicle. That was
one too many.
