I'm trying to determine the value of a Walther P-38. I see some on gunbroker for 350 on up to 1500. How can I determine how much mine is worth?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I'd need more information to even know where to be begin.

Is yours a post war P-1?

Does it have Nazi proof marks?

What year was it made?

What factory did it come from? Example: A Mauser p38 manufactured in 1942 would be marked as :byf 42

Mauser started to have p38's for the soldier's hands in November of 1942. byf 42 codes are pretty rare as only about 700 were produced. :-P

Take some pictures.

Man A few more pictures would be more helpful.

Ditto. A closeup of the frame and slide will definitely help.

The frame looks like aluminum... am i correct?

If so this is a post war model "P-1"

Olufsen,

Rhis looks like a post war P1 with an aluminum frame.

The P1 was adopted by the Bundeswehr in 1957 and remained in service until the early 1990s. They're worth anywhere from 350 - 400 bucks depending on condition, etc.

This one is marked P.38. They made these During the late 50's, early 1960's, I believe the only difference was the P1 had a reinforced frame to resolve some cracking issues with the Alloy being used and. I agree with the price estimate.
