I have two Colt ARs that are excellent apocalypse-worthy additions and will hold their value well.

1) LNIB Colt M4 6920 SOCOM (2013 Config): Fully-tricked out with Knight's Armament pic rail w/covers and fore-grip, MaTech flip up rear sight, and mil-spec Trijicon ACOG (green tube) on a QD mount. LE serial number.  I have the box for the ACOG as well and I can add some Manta Rail covers (which are highly sought after if you want to swap out the plastic KAC covers for something more heat-resistant).  $3000.

2) Restricted Roll Mark Colt M4 LE Carbine.  Shows rack wear as most gov trade-ins do but functions flawlessly and is becoming collectible.  Has a Silencer Co Muzzle Device, Aimpoint H1 on DD Mount, DD rear sight, one 30-round mag and sling.  $2000.
