  1. According to channel 7 in Jackson Tn news cast last night we must have gun registration in TN. They reported that the Commercial Appeal data base has the name of every gun owner in the state. Not one time did they mention the words handgun carry permit. Thanks to them everyone that does not take the paper now knows where to look at our information, thanks WBBJ television. You would think they would get the facts a little bit closer to the truth. I guess that would not stir the masses up enough, so lets add a little bit of the Enquirer type journalism.
  2. I sent this to the Commercial Appeal I have a very dear friend who is being stalked. Now not only does he have her address (which he already had), he has her date of birth, and he knows she is armed. She was scared before but she was dealing with it because she knew she had the element of surprise. I want to thank the Commercial Appeal for caring enough to share this information with her stalker. Her blood is on your hands now. I pray nothing happens to her because of this. You get a good nights sleep and dream about what you have done.
  3. I have called John Tanners office to see if we can get some heat from above. I have called everyone I know that has a permit to piss them off and to get them to call everyone they know to get them pissed. My Representatives have been contacted, waiting for call backs. The argument I am using is that I want to keep guns out of criminals hands. I tell them that this is a golden opportunity for criminals to obtain firearms through theft. I am going to wait until midnight to call the people from the Commercial Appeal just for effect. As far as searching just put in city and nothing else, could not find my wifes because I used Pam not Pamela.
  4. I went to renew mine yesterday and was told I had to bring my birth certificate to renew. They did not even check to see if it was on file. which it is .They just refused to look. I also was the only person in the place and they made me take a number and wait to be called up to be assisted by one of the 4 people working the desk. Then I was given a form to fill out to renew my DL even though I told them HCP. Filled it out and then they told me "I" filled out the wrong form. I love my government they make my life so much less stressful. Off my soap box now. Good for another 4 years now.
  5. Do retailers have any obligation to inform patrons of the fact that they serve alcohol? Some recent examples include a bowling alley, a family fish restraint, and a buffet restraint. On all three occasions I was inside for some time or on my way out before I observed someone in possession of an alcoholic beverage. No where in these examples were there any sighs on the door, near the entrance or any other indication that they served alcohol. If we have to play by the rules the least they could do is post them. I think part of the reason is they want the alcohol dollars without offending the church crowd. It is almost like getting a speeding ticket without a speed limit sign to go by. If they do have an obligation, what is the penalty to them? Does it have any effect on the penalty to the HCP holder?
  6. Went there over the weekend only to find correctly worded signs posted. The problem is they were on a sign post in the parking lot. Not on the entrances to the parking lot, not on the doors to the stores but out in the middle of the parking lot. Now I did as I always do, I carried as usual as it was not posted on the entrances as per state law. I know what they wanted me to do but the state made the rules and if I have to play by them so does the mall.
  7. Update. The wife is fine only a brused sholder ,neck ,and head. She is back in Memphis today for meetings on the U of M campus so no gun today. Lets keep the pressure up on Nashville to relax the carry limitations in Tennessee.
  8. Yes the signs have to have wording substantially similar to the the following. PURSUANT TO § 39-17-1359, THE OWNER/OPERATOR OF THIS PROPERTY HAS BANNED WEAPONS ON THIS PROPERTY, OR WITHIN THIS BUILDING OR THIS PORTION OF THIS BUILDING. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS PROHIBITION IS PUNISHABLE AS A CRIMINAL ACT UNDER STATE LAW AND MAY SUBJECT THE VIOLATOR TO A FINE OF NOT MORE THAN FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500). We ignored the signs when we picked her up.
  9. Long story short my wife was hurt at work Sunday. She was knocked out for a short time and was transported by the Bartlett Fire Dept. to St Francis hospital in Bartlett. She informed the FD crew of her permit and that she was armed. It was a non-issue to them and the informed her that they would take care of it at the hospital. Now at the hospital there are ghost buster signs but no legal ones. Once at the hospital she was told by hospital staff it was ok to keep it on her person and if they did need to do any test that would effect her the would hold the gun in their safe until I could pick it up for her. I just want express my thanks to the Bartlett FD and to St Francis for using common sense and making this a great encounter. From Tennessee and proud of it.
  10. I blame the state, they send out these signs for business owners to put up but when they changed the laws they made no effort to inform the business owners about the changes or tell them to remove the old signs. As a business owner it is in your best intrest to leave up anything the state tells you to put up untill told by someone from the state to remove it. I know we have some signs up that are from the 70's and I think they are no longer valid but I error on the side of caution.
  11. The mall at Jackson is not posted on all doors as required and on the others are not posted correctly. I just wanted to point out the fact that people do not notice what is going on around them even when is it is their face and to ease HCP holders minds about exposing their weapon as being a non issue. Now why this drew such childish replies is beyond me. I think I will return to THR now.
  12. I just had to try something last Saturday. It was a nice day and warm, so I went with my wife to Jackson. I open carried my 4513TSW S&W strong side. First we went to IHOP for something to eat, I sat with the gun to the outside of the booth near the front door. Next we went ot Toys R Us and picked up a few things. Then on to Wal Mart where she had some pitcures developed which took over an hour, during this time I looked all around the store. On to the mall for a quick walk around. Not one time all day did anyone even act like they saw a gun, much less say anything. Now back to CC, but it just proves that printing is not an issue. No wonder there is so much crime, the public as a whole is living in la-la land with no idea what is going on around them.
  13. Michelle There is a deputy named Mark Black that has given some classes in Weakley Co but I tried for over a year to get him to give a class without luck. My wife and I took ours in Troy Tn from Jamie and Mary Spaulding (536-6590). I think they give the class about once a month on a Saturday. Good instruction with small class size, don't remember the cost but it was worth it. Welcome to the world of ccw. Just remember the class is the first step not the last. Stick around here and learn as much as you can and practice, practice, practice.
  14. Let me tell about two experiences I have had recently. Case number one, a small supermarket near home has a cafeteria complete with counter and stools and a small seating area. Upon finishing my meal I went to the restroom which is in the rear of the a separate eating area which is used for overflow seating and private parties. To my surprise I see a small bar stocked with adult beverages. It was not maned and the lights were off. Case number two, a catfish restaurant on the lake. I stopped in to have lunch and there were about 10 customers eating, one employee out front, the owner and her two grandkids. As I was leaving I saw a customer with a beer on the table. Now in neither case were there any beer signs of any kind, and the beverages were not on the menu. In both cases I asked at the checkout about alcohol sales and both times I was told yes we do sell these but do not advertise the fact so as to not offend some customers. How can I as a permit holder obey the law short of asking someone outside of every restaurant before entering? Is there no requirement that they post that alcohol is being served? Just another reason to get this law changed before one of the good guys become a felon, because we do not want to offend someone!
  15. What is up with handgunlaw.us saying carry in state parks in Tennessee is a yes? Did I sleep through that law change or are they wrong? If is is incorrect does anyone have contact with them to correct this? State park and restraunt carry are the main reasons I spend a lot of money on the Kentucky side of the line, and my representives know this and just do not care.
  16. I have 2 questions 1. Does anyone know if the Memphis Zoo is posted? We want to take the grandkids tomorrow. 2. Red Bones at Jackson is having bike cruse-in on Sundays. They serve acholic beverages so I know going inside is a no go, but what about sitting in the parking lot? Yes they are serving on the patio and people are wandering everywhere with beer. Red Bones is like Logans,Outback or any other chain.

    FFL transfers

How does the dealer know how much you paid for the gun? That is betweem the buyer and the seller. I just bought a 642 S&W from my local dealer for $379.00 + $36.95 tax = $415.95, I found it at Bud's for $332.00 + $31.00 insured shipping + $25.00 transfer fee + $10.00 background check = $398.00. I will always give my local dealer the extra $17.95, If it were not for the tax he would be cheaper. He just called me last week and let me have a trade in 3953 S&W for $300.00 out the door. Now I did buy an M&P 15 S&W last month from Bud's and saved $150.00 after all was said and done. So as you can see my local dealer takes care of me and I support him. Can anyone guess how much a car would cost if we had this same stupid law about buying across state lines? This is one law that sreves no purpose except to make it harder on the people who purchase guns. By the way my dealer is Hill's hardware in Union City TN, Contact David Taylor.
