Breaking down your Moth#$fu$#ing AK-47....No what em saying.....NSFW

Holla... -
I handled a Glock and XD before making a purchase and I just didn't like the way the Glock's grip fit in my hand. For me, that was one of the real differences and I guess a downside, at least in my experience.

I paid $375 for the gun + tax and TCIS. I think they are $340 from sarcoinc.com, but Sarco is currently not selling guns due to some FFL troubles. I probably could have saved a couple bucks by waiting and purchasing from Sarco, but I had purchased from Phil in the past and would much rather support a local dealer. Plus, I'd still be waiting... The grips were purchased from Ebay. You can find some stores with them for $180-$225, but if you get lucky, I've seen new sets go for $125 from private sellers.

I had the opportunity to pick up my RIA Compact from Phil at his Bellshire Hardware store in Nashville last week. He is a super nice guy to deal with. Anyways, as this will be my primary carry weapon I was looking to ditch the GI sights in favor of some night sights, but discovered for a few bucks more I could get a set of Crimson Trace Lasergrips. After putting 100 rds. through it with no failures, I love the GI sights, but they are a bit difficult in low light situations. The CT grips should solve that problem and I like how there is an option to completely turn them off, while at the range. The color is a black w/ "ghost flame", which wasn't my first choice, but it was actually cheaper than plain black and I think they look pretty nice, while not being too "loud." Anyways, on to the pics...Definitely the best $550 total I have ever spent.

Thanks for sharing...I had never seen one of those before and really like the looks of it. Guess I'll have to keep an eye out. I need something else cheap and fun to burn some of this 9mm ammo through.

Well I didn't get a chance to go today...thinking of swinging by tomorrow, but $10...ouch! I will be looking for some 1911 officers magazines, some grips and maybe a 20g pump gun. Still not sure if its worth the $10...

According to the hours, it didn't officially start until 3, so maybe thats why there weren't many people there. I am planning on stopping by today.

UT Students to Protest Ban of Handguns on Campus
BrandonTN replied to ZenDog's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
As much as I hate to admit it, quite a few SCCC members are liberals. Its a good assumption to make that all liberals are against guns, but its not always the case. -
I think around $7...

UT Students to Protest Ban of Handguns on Campus
BrandonTN replied to ZenDog's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Talk to Scott Lewis or one of the other admins and have them bump her as a campus leader and then you or one of your buddies take over that position. They want leaders who are going to be active on campus...FWIW, the protest has been advertised on SCCC's website and the Facebook group since at least the beginning of the year. -
How could this happen? I thought Chicago had some of the strictest gun laws???

Are you a member of SCCC's Facebook group? There is a heck of a lot of effort going into these protests! Are you helping putting flyers up? Just as quick as they get put up, the Anti's are ripping them down. There are a ton of TV and radio interviews posted there as well as hosted on YouTube. SCCC is getting national air time and we gained over 1000 members in a day this week. Just a bit shy of 30k members, which we should hit by this weekend. Here is the news piece from ABC Nightline [ame] [/ame] -
I plan on going to check it out. Its advertised as being the biggest show in Nashville. Don't forget to print out the $1 off coupon from the Rk shows website! http://www.rkshows.com/coupon.htm

I've always had good luck finding unissued ammo cans for under $3 at the local gun shows. I think there may be a show in Knoxville this upcoming weekend.

ETSU introduces students to Firearms
BrandonTN replied to awdbandito's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Awesome! I know TTU has a range in the football stadium, but it is only open to ROTC students. -
I have a Bullard "dual carry" for my XD9sc. It can either be carried IWB or OWB by rotating the clips. I had it at my front door in 4 days. http://estore.websitepros.com/1565531/Detail.bok?no=23 The Dakota is nice, but not nice enough to wait half a year...

CBS News Report - Right To Bear Arms On Campus?
BrandonTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Its really geared towards those who already have a CCW permit to be allowed to carry on campus as well. Check out the website in my sig for more info on the group and what we are trying to accomplish. -
Quick update...I guess my parents were both out in the yard the other day and the pitbull charged the fence. My dad told my mom that if he does get in our yard to go ahead and shoot it. I'm assuming the neighbors were outside and heard this (they didn't approach my parents), but ever since then the dog has not charged the fence or been outside. Anyways, as far as gun selection goes, she is getting a youth 20g and I bought a bottle of bear spray for her as it has a much longer range. Thanks for all the tips thus far. They liked the nails in the fence idea, but don't want to start a neighbor battle. HOA has not gotten back with them either concerning pet disturbances or the razor wire.
-
She's planning on keeping it in by the patio door while outside...its a fairly small backyard with a privacy fence surrounding it. Even if she did walk around with it, no one can see in the backyard due to the fence.
-
I can't see her ever growing comfortable with a pistol grip...I threw one on my 12 just to experiment and hated it. I'm leaning more towards a 20g youth model with around a 21" barrel...Pardner seems to have a pretty good selection for under 2 bills.
-
I figured that...she did hint at the fact that she doesn't want a gun unless she takes a course and I know there are some places around TN offering all-women classes, but I believe those are geared more towards CCW. Yes, I will make sure I shoot with her, I'm not just going to throw a gun at her and say have at it.

My mom, the most anti-gun person ever, floored me the other day when she told me she wanted a gun to keep around for a few reasons. The main reason is a pitbull who lives next door. They have a wooden privacy fence separating the yards which is about 6-7' tall. Apparently the neighbor's pitbull is becoming very aggressive when my mom is out there or our lab is out in the yard. He constantly runs into the fence and tries to leap over. Assuming the HOA will allow it, my parents are thinking of stringing razor wire along the top, but I'm not sure that will fly. Animal control can not do anything unless the dog makes it into their yard, which at that time, no telling what could happen. The second reason would be for when my dad is out of town and she is wanting more protection that that golf club by her bed will provide her. I think he budget is around $300. I am debating a 12 or even 20 gauge pump gun or a cheap .380 or 9mm. I'm leaning towards the 9mm for a handgun due to the price of ammo. Personally, I have a 12 gauge for a HD gun, but I would like to hear everyone's thoughts on this matter. One final note, of course if the pit bull is attacking her lab, then it becomes a matter of a well placed shot and she does want to become proficient in shooting. Anyways, opinions are much appreciated. I told her I would start looking into this for her.

None taken...I've honestly never looked at HH Gregg for anything other than appliances. I shop online most of the time anyways.

I dunno, we shopped around for my sister at Lowe's, Home Depot, Sears, Sears Scratch & Dent Outlet, HH Gregg and Best Buy. HH Gregg by and far had the best prices and were willing to match and take coupons in addition to any rebates. We didn't bother checking any mom and pop places. One thing worth noting, my sister had purchased a $1200 fridge and apparently they had an inventory glitch and oversold that model and were OOS in the warehouse when it came time for hers to be delivered. They upgraded her to an $1800 model for free. I thought that was pretty impressive customer service. Anyways, I have no affiliation with HH Gregg, I just like to give a positive review if I am happy with a particular retail establishment (which is becoming rare these days with the oversight of customer service in so many various stores).
