There are certainly people, like yourself, for whom the vaccine makes a lot more sense. And I'll add... that if a person is out of the "child siring" or "child bearing" games, then there is probably even less risk.
Here's an aspect of this to think about, though: You may feel that you have nothing to lose but there are people who will feel a loss if you succumb to any of those conditions. At the very least, we here on TGO would miss your contributions to the ongoing dialogue and the experiences that you can share with us.
I don't want anyone rushing off into oblivion. Please don't misread my words or intent.
David I apologize if I came off as taking offense to your comments, that wasn't my intention. This forum has been great to be a part of and I enjoy it. The fact is it's my choice to get the shot, and I respect the feelings of others you don't believe it's a good idea. I've accepted the fact that I'm not going to live forever, hell I'm lucky I made it pass 25yrs old with all the wild and crazy things I did, but I've made my peace with God and will accept and stand before him and answer for all my miss doings. I appreciate everyone's opinion on the subject. We all have are beliefs and opinions and that is why I chose to do it. Now I'm done rambling, God bless every member here, and your families.

With my cancer diagnosis two years will be a mile stone for me buddy. Besides I'm 54yrs old, just had 5 bypasses to correct my heart problems, then get a stage 4 cancer diagnosis, I got nothing to loose. I get my ass up every day at 4:30am, no I don't go to work cause I had to take an early retirement do to my condition, I excercise also, I'm 184# down from 225. I treat every day as a blessing. Shot or no shot I'm choosing to take it, and I'm not going to debate any further on this.

Well I'll let you know what happens. I for one can say if I get sick for a couple of days that's better than catching Covid-19 and possibly not recovering. Either get it or not that's your decision not mine.

Well. That title covers a lot of territory doesn't it? Had 2 scheduled checkups and blood draws today. My GP and my Oncologist.
I talked with both about the Covid Vaccines and my feelings and health issues relating to whether or not to take it. Interesting conversations from both. Especially the gentleman who actually drew the blood. We covered about everything from the source, the intent, and the possible outcomes of this pandemic. Even got into some of the religion side...Revelation and Mark of the Beast territory.
But the core of all this is that my Oncologist's comments were this..."Do it. Do it Now!" You are at major risk. Walking time bomb. Just waiting to be infected. Really said that.
Well, it seemed that TnOncology was vaccinating all their patients. And since I was in one office, a call was made and I was quite literally immediately shoved out the door and sent to the one where there were some shots still available.
So...in spite of my comments here previously; I received the 1st dose of the Moderna Vaccine today.
I do feel rather much a hypocrite right now. But it's done. We shall see what happens.
I also go to TN Oncology since being diagnosed with colon cancer and some lesions on my Liver. I've had six chemo treatments so far(once every other week, so twice a month.) I'm going tomorrow to get my first Covid-19 shot, my Dr. told me also go get it, so I am. Hope your doing well, take care.

I just bought a new HOLSUN 507C x2 w/ Green Dot, thinking of putting it on my DPO but I'm going to get the one I already have installed sighted in before I decide to swap it.
-
Thanks for the information, I'll try that and see what I can do. I'll post back sometime next week when I get to the range.

There ya go! That's the business right there.
I am running the same optic on my C2 DPO and it's the way to go for low profile and an optic that doesn't hang over the sides too badly with the slim profile of the 1911/2011 slide.
Thanks, I like this a lot better, going to try to run some rnds down it next week at one of the indoor ranges when I have time. How accurate are the HOLOSUN out of the box, just seeing how much adjustment I might expect to make.

Got my Case Feeder in this morning, got it mounted and set up, works great, also hooked up my led light. I decided to go old school on my powder measure, I removed the powder measure rod and installed two springs around the powder hopper like the old style, works smoother than the rod. I did that so I could change the angle of the powder hopper to work with the Mini MR. Bullet Feeder and my low prime alert. Ran a dry run without powder and it functions fine, tomorrow I'm going to load some W231 in the hopper and check and see if it is still set for 5.4grns since I had to move everything around a bit to clear and function. Got the dies all set and adjusted for sizing, bullet depth and crimping, Here's some pics still have a few more tweaks to make but should be ready to start reloading. I've got 30,000 left to finish off what I have in my inventory of 200grn SWC.

I can think of more things to spend $10,000.00 on and it won't be a reloading press. They look good, but I'll stay with what I have.

Installed a few more parts on it this afternoon. A Mini MR. Bullet Feeder( the one you load and turn by hand) it holds 100 bullets, works great so far with the trial run. Installed a new primer chute and it actually works great. Still have some tweaks to make and a few more parts that I want, oh the Case Feeder will be here hopefully tomorrow or Saturday can't wait to hook it up. Here are a few more pics.

Picked up my new Staccato P DPO from my FFL. Going to do a few mods. on it, either install the old style Grip Module from my Staccato P 4.14 or I might order another EXTREME SHOOTERS Grip Module w/ Grip Reduction like I put on my 4.14 model, and an aluminium Flat Trigger from EVERGLADES and install my HOLOSUN Red Dot this weekend. Here's the pics. of the DPO

Put a Geissele Trigger in it, I had the Flat Trigger in my AR's. Looks good, I might have an extra Magpul Hand Guard, I'll look around if I can find it you can have it if you want, it came off my Magpul Edition S&W MP 15. I swapped it out for a BCM One Piece 15" Rail. Let me know and I'll see if I can find it if your interested. I sold you that M&P 45acp Shield.

Yeah I got a Led light mounted on it, got a few more accessories in, and coming from Dillon and others I've bought from. Got a new Primer Catcher, some easy tabs to remove the pins, my fat fingers will appreciate that. I ran into a little problem when I set up the dies, the Sizer-Primer DE Capping Die, some how the pin that punches the primer out got loose when I was setting up the others and it bent the pin and the holder. Emailed Redding and they are supposed to mail me a new one along with extra pins for free, so we'll see if they do. Case Feeder is supposed to be here today or tomorrow, along with the other stuff I ordered. More pics when I get it put together, and the roller handle is great.

I used a 550 also for the last 10yrs. probably loaded over 80,000 rnds on it over the years. I figured it was time to upgrade, I still have about 30,000 45acp to load up to finish what I have in my inventory, so I figured I could make quick work of those with this loader.

Got my Dillon 750XL set up, I placed a bid on Ebay last month and took a chance and won it, I got a good deal on it considering the prices lately. It came with a 9mm Conversion kit so I ordered a 45acp Caliber Conversion kit from Dillon right after I purchased my press and received it in a week along with a spare parts kit. Last Friday night I ordered a Case Feeder for it and it shipped today and should be here this week, that surprised me cause it showed it was on back order. I got the press mounted on an Inline Fabrication JR Mount the other day and waiting for the rest of the stuff to get here. So hopefully I can start reloading 45acp next week. Here are a couple of pics of it mounted on my bench. I'll post some more when everything else arrives this week.

I wish I'd known that you wanted a Staccato P. I am teetering on the edge of selling mine and just focusing on the C2 that I have.
You're going to love the way the dot rides on the slide, though!
I apologize if I came off like I was mad, I understand that it is better to have the Red Dot mounted on the Slide. I just traded for one of the new Staccato P DPO, do you know anything about those. I know they use a Plate from Dawson Precision, do you think that was a good choice, if I can sell my Detonics Combat Master I listed here I might be interested in your Staccato if you want to sell, just let me know sometime. I'll post some pics when I get the DPO in.

TGO David, you'll be happy to hear that I removed the Dovetail Mount that made you wince in pain and put the rear sight back on. I just ordered a Staccato P DPO and should be here in about two weeks then I will mount my HOLOSUN 507c x2 on it. Can't wait to get it and try it out.

I've written about red dot optics on handguns many, many times here on TGO. They are the way forward. Period. I probably have more money invested in dot optics and having slides milled for them than most folks have in handguns. I own more than a few and I have spent countless hours getting pretty good with them and good at teaching people to use them effectively.
They aren't a fad and they aren't a niche anymore. They've become mainstream because they work and they are a vast improvement over iron sights. And as long as you stay with proven brands like Trijicon and Holosun, they are reliable even for duty use.
Seeing that Staccato P with that crazy dovetail mounting plate just hurts my soul. Those mounting plates will get a dot on your gun for cheap but they are like buying a sex doll and thinking it's anything like the real deal. It's just not. The height over bore is wonky and it will feel alien and unnatural holding the gun lower than you normally would just to get a decent alignment with the optic and your eye.
I also dislike most of the OEM mounting systems that use plates to affix various red dots to the top of the slide for some of the same reasons. The Glock MOS and M&P CORE systems both put the optic higher than they could be if the slide was just machined for for the specific optic. The MOS and CORE plates also don't provide much material for the optic's screws to go into. This leads to failures and people assuming that red dot optics on handguns is a bad idea.
C&H Precision Weapons (CHPWS) makes improved plates for the Glock and M&P that makes it a little better.
FN USA has a better plate design for the 509 MRD. CZ USA has a pretty good plate setup for the P10C OR. Shadow Systems has the best design, period, for using a variety of optics in the MR918, MR920 and DR920 lines. The optic sits nice and low in the slide and is held down by the longest screws I've seen yet.
I've got a few Staccatos now. The 2019 and 2020 DUO models were pretty good but Dawson Precision makes the plates for them and believes in THICK material. The 2020 and 2021 DPO models are better and Dawson's plates for them seem to be thinner and more in line with what CHPWS makes. My 2021 C2 DPO with a Holosun 507K is damn near perfection.
I am anxious to get my hands on the new Walther PDP. They seem to have really designed that gun around the CHPWS mounting plate system and set them pretty low into the slide with good mounting hardware. I think it'll be the gun to beat if you're lookin for a sub $1000 gun with optic this year.Like I said, I know the mount I chose was not the IDEAL MOUNT, I didn't want to spend $600 to get my Staccato P 4.14's slide milled and refinished. If I didn't like it I would have a hard time reselling something that had been modified that others might not care for, as far as the sex doll comments, I've got nothing to say about that, if you don't like it that's your opinion(and we all know the saying about opinions). I'm going to try it out and then if I like it I'll have the slide milled, if not I'll sell the HOLOSUN.
