  1. I'm not real sure about what bullet weight will work the best this is my first short Bbl. rifle caliber but from what I have read it's suppose to handle a variety of bullets so I'm going to try a few different weights and see what works best, now I need to save up and get a suppressor for it, this has to be the most non "NFA" looking gun that I have ever seen. I'll get it out and see how it runs and functions anyone have any advice on some 300BLK out Ammo to run through this, I'm going to start reloading once I find a good factory round any certain brands that I should try or should stay away from. Thanks.

  2. I just got this about two weeks ago and have been busy adding a few things to top it off. This is a SIG MCX Pistol w/ Sliding Brace in 300BLK. I installed the Troy Battle Sights, TRIGCON MRO, BCM Hand Guards and a Hand Stop. Haven't got to shoot it yet been a little busy, here are the specs. SIG MCX SNAKEBITE lmtd. edition of 300, it has a 9 3/4" Bbl. 1:5 Twist done in two tone FDE/BLACK a Sig Sliding Arm Brace. Let me know what you guys think about it. Here are a couple of pics. and I'll post a range report as soon as I have time to get it out and run some rounds down it.

  3. Well I've got another CQB ELITE and a NIGHTHAWK GRP that I had totally redone from the ground up. I've owned a bunch of entry level guns, my favorite was a SPRINGFIELD RANGE OFFICER it shot and locked up tight just like my higher end 1911"s, besides this was the only pics. I had to show what I was talking about.

  4. Just picked mine up at my FFL.I ordered a .45 SHIELD with out the thumb safety for $338 shipped from GRAB-A-GUN and with the $75 rebate from S & W tat puts me at $263 and my FFL only charged me $25 for the transfer and back ground so add that in and I'm at $288, that leaves some money for another Mag. or two. I'm going to take it out this weekend and run some rnds. down it and break it in.

  5. Is it a .45cal. frame? full size or commander. You will have to have a slide and Bbl. fitted to the frame in order to have it run right, but I have seen some get lucky. You can order a slide and Bbl. from CASPIAN once you know the size of the frame(has to do with the dust cover length and grip length.) This is a Full Size Govt. 5" Bbl., now what I mean by the dust cover is shown in the bottom pick with the slide locked back it is part of the frame length. along with a Slide and a Bbl. you'll need a Bushing and Slide Stop and Bbl. Link. A good gunsmith should be able to fix you up, but if you want a .45 I would just buy a SPRINGFIELD GI Mod. for about $600 (I've seen them cheaper a good used one you might find for $500 maybe less just depends) new or a LOADED for $800. The parts to do the work can be bought used for about $200 maybe less, new is going to be $300 plus for good parts plus you'll have another $200 or so in work. Hope this helps sorry if I confused you more.

  7. Just buy a  SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 1911-A1 that's as close to being what you want in your price range, and they shoot great I've had several over the years.

  8. Didn't get to hunt Saturday due to being out of town Friday night. However, got out this morning and while things didn't go exactly as planned, I got a bird in the fridge.

We set up blindly, but near a know roost area. When they fired up, they were on every side of us and I know I heard 10 different gobblers. They henned up quickly, but we kept working them. Around 7:15 two long beards walked in to our set up. I took careful aim and shot the lead bird at about 30 yards. 3.5" #4's knocked him off his feet, but I hit him low. He got up and ran off, me emptying the gun at him. We searched the woods and briar patches, but didn't find him. I was down on myself and questioning my sights, shells, choke choices. Guess I pulled low on the shot, but still felt it was enough lead and close enough it should have kept him down. My partner left to go to church and I stayed to look some more.

While walking the woods, rustling the leaves caused another bird to fire up. I eased to the field edge and called in a flock. Shot this one at 20 yards and didn't pull the shot low.

    I hate losing wounded game.

"So he cocked both his pistols, spit in the dirt, and walked out in to the street."

Nice bird!! did you weigh it?

  9. Most 1911 parts are going to need some fitting. As far as what parts are similar in the Commander and Govt. Model it will depend on if they are a series 70 or a series 80, some sights are a different  styles or cuts (basic models have a GI.Style Rear and a Post front while others have Novack Cuts for the Rear and dovetailed Front's) as stated in one of the posts above check out that site or this one 1911addicts.com   they both have a wealth of info.
