  1. 17 days since fingerprinting! Now to do the Wally Walk... is that really a requirement?
  2. We found a pretty nice Beretta Neos and decided to buy it instead of waiting on the Ruger. We shot about 500 rounds through it without a hitch. My son is becoming quite the marksman... I wouldn't have even considered this pistol before the recommendations here. Thanks!
  3. My Model 60 probably have 5000 rounds through it and still shoots anything that I put in it. My son is trying to claim it now... but he'll have to wait until Dad is through playing with it. I've kept it bone stock as that's the way I like it! If I were going to dress one up, I'll buy at 10/22. It'll probably be my next gun purchase anyway if I don't find a nice shotgun to play dress up with.
  4. Awesome! I feel pretty sure that I'll get mine this week sometime.
  5. Unless I was in the den or had the GPS coordinates... my wife would never find me.
  6. After looking at several guns this afternoon, I think I'm going to buy the MkIII. The Heritage revolvers were ok, the Beretta Neos were nice, didn't like the S&W's, and there are very bad reviews on the Sig Mosquito and the Walther P22. We didn't buy anything today, but the salesman at the Guns and Leather in Hendersonville will probably get my business when I decide to. (even though he tried selling me the Walther and Sig. lol) If we go there to shoot tomorrow... they have a MkIII for rent, and I have about 500 rounds that need to be used up! Oh yeah... and thank everyone for your responses. At least I had more choices to consider.
  7. The guy I talked to was at Goodlettsville Gun Shop (Guns, Handgun Permits, & Classes | Goodlettsville Gun Shop, Nashville, TN). I originally contacted him about a FFL transfer, showing him where I could purchase the MkIII for $278 through Buds. He was at $25.00 for the transfer, but looked the gun up and told me he could order it himself for $300 otd. Mind you, it's the standard and blued model. No adjustable sights.
  8. The Heritage Rough Rider was one of the ones that I was looking at, as was the Ruger MkIII. My first handgun was a MkII and I became pretty used to the way that was disassembled for cleaning, so that doesn't scare me with the MkIII. Trouble is, I can get the Heritage RR tomorrow and without spending any more money... but the Ruger was quoted at $300 out the door, but would have to be ordered. Thinking about this further... since I'm using it to teach my son shooting with a handgun, the RR would also force him to shoot slower, maybe giving him time to zero in a little better on his target rather than sending ten rounds down range non-stop. I've heard mixed reviews on the Heritage though... mostly good/some bad.
  9. Found an extra $250 ... and whadda you know, I've been looking for a new .22 pistol for my son and I to shoot. just can't decide on one. Any suggestions? I'm sure I can eek out another dollar or two if needed;).
  10. I work in West Nashville... (White Bridge Road), and live in Donelson.
  11. Are they still worried about this dam? I was hoping that they'd taken care if this by now as it seemed the issue, or at least the news reporting, went away. I know that a couple of years ago this was being talked about... but I haven't heard anything lately. If it goes... my house is six foot under water within three days!
  12. Did my registration for my carry permit last Thursday, and got the fingerprinting done last Saturday. My class instructor said that it would take about three months to receive my permit, then guy taking the prints said about three weeks, and I read someone here state 17 days. That got me excited, needless to say. How long did it take you to receive yours after registration and printing?
  13. Wecome Scott! I'm a noob here myself.
  14. Arg... PC gamer here. Love Black Ops and the Zombies!
  15. When I began fishing about 11 years ago, I couldn't place in a tournament to save my life. I was constantly looking for, or buying the next big thing thinking that this is what I needed to become a better fisherman. As you may know... there are literally thousands of options for an angler out there. Before I knew it, I acquired a tremendous amount of stuff. Guess what? None of it helped me. None helped until I decided one day as I was cleaning out my boat one weekend that I really didn't use but about 20% of what I had in there. So, it all went out to the barn except for those few things that I would always use. Once all of those distractions were out of my way, I spent more time becoming familiar and confident in what I had... and began catching more fish! My point is... and I'm trying to remember this with shooting, that once I become familiar and confident with my little LCP, I won't feel that it is "underpowered". (I've never really felt that way anyway) The .380 may be a small round, but I don't want to be hit with one.
  16. Hello everyone... My name is Charles and I am new here, which is why I'm posting here first! I'm a resident of Tennessee and have life here all my life. Married, with two kids and a cat... but I'm sure you're not really interested in all of that. I have recently received my carry permit, but have been shooting for quite awhile. My first hangun was a Ruger Mark II, stainless which got me hooked in shooting handguns. My second was a Ruger .22 Single-Six. Both of those guns taught me how to enjoy shooting and now that I'm a father, I'm trying to get my son interested in shooting as well. My home protection gun for the past several years is a classic S&W Model 10-6. Great gun! I've recently purchased the new Ruger LC9 and the LCP which I intent to carry one or the other, depending on the weather and how I'm dressed. Neither of the latter two guns have had much range-time, as I'm still looking for a place to shoot. I took my class at Academy of Self Protection in Joelton and have been to their indoor range once since then. It a nicer place than Gun City (5 minutes from my house), but a little bit of a drive from Donelson. Thanks for listening and I'll probably read more than I contribute, but I'm sure I'll have a question or two somewhere along the way. Charles
