  1. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/10/27/marines-police-prep-for-mock-zombie-invasion/?test=latestnews Can I play?
  2. Apparently my parents and grandparents didn't care to leave us any "heirloom" weapons as neither set had any to pass down. I did however, get handed down some WWII items such as a Nazi helmet, Nazi Firemans Dagger, and an old Prussian 1889 Sword. At any rate, I'd love to have my grandparents back. I miss them.
  3. Seek out alternative sources for food. Sure... if SHTF, people are going to flock to the stores, but unless you want to be mobbed there you need to think of other places. Schools, for example, store food for lots of people. It may not be the best stuff, but it's food. There will also be first aid supplies! Fuel Supply? You better know how to, and where to, siphon gas. Don't expect the gas stations to have any. Check out fleet management locations, used car lots, and even old lawn mowers. I have more... but do I really want to divulge all my secrets? lol
  4. Reminds me of when I was a kid... I used to stay at my Grandmothers house while my parents worked. There was a lady "down the alley" that we used to go visit all the time. I liked her because she always gave me stuff to take a part... one of my favorite things I still do. One week out of the year however, my grandparents would go on vacation and I'd go somewhere else for the week. When they got back, my Granny and I went to go visit the lady to check up on her. The yard smelled really bad, and my granny told me to take in the yard while she went in. Turns out, the lady died the week before and her many cats got a little hungry. I never seen her, but when I was older my granny told me about it. All I can remember was the smell.
  5. Please... go to his Facebook page and read the "real" comment that he posted on that pic. There's more to it than the media is saying. Here's the whole, "unedited for liberal media" version: "Many people in Tennessee keep asking me about my opinion on Second Amendment rights. Apparently Tennesseans are part of that crazy crowd that Obama says "cling to their religion and guns." Well, then I must be part of that crazy crowd. Here is something that I usually have with me. Welcome to Tennessee Mr. Obama, where we appreciate our 2nd Amendment rights and the Constitution that was wisely given to us by our founding fathers."
  6. Now... do I need to buy defense rounds for all three mags?
  7. Someone posted a video here, I think, where they buryed a Glock and a 1911 and then shot them after blowing all the dirt out. I was impressed. Plus, this one has three, 17 rd mags! That's a LOT of firepower, although I'm sure my son will cost me a lot more in ammo when he get trigger happy.
  8. I was looking for a 1911... and ended up with a Glock 17. lol
  9. There may be a thermocouple that needs to reach a certain temperature before the pilot will stay lit. If so, hold the button down after its lit until the little rod above it glows a little.
  10. Well, it's now a toss up between the RIA and the SR1911. I'm going to go look at both of them this weekend, if I can find one of the Rugers that is. I'm going to go checkout Bellshire Hardware on y'alls recommendation, and will probably go to the Nashville Armory if the place isn't too crowded. I'm a stones throw from Bass Pro Shops, but I don't think they have either gun.
  11. Did you see that you can rent full autos there? That's cool! It will be worth that price to see my son shooting a full auto! Guess I better leave Mom at home when we do that.
  12. Oh yeah... I'll go there, but I can shoot all day at G&L in Hendersonville with my son for about $30.00. My wife and I shot at ASP last time for about $21.00.
  13. Sweet! But $20.00 per hour range fees? Is that normal?
  14. We'll be going somewhere and my wife will ask me? Why do you need a gun when we're only going here? My reply is... I may know where we're going... but what are we coming home to? Even though we have an alarm system at the house... you never know what's waiting for you in the dark. We live in a pretty safe neighborhood, but... I'm sure most victims felt the same way.
  15. Too bad they close at 5:00pm on the weekdays... that's *sort of* on my way home from work! Spent too much time taking my daughters car to the dealership to have work done to take any more time off this week. Maybe I'll sneak out there this weekend when my wife isn't looking.
  16. I may be in that area this weekend. I'll check them out. Thanks!
  17. I've heard no one say anything good, bad, or ugly about the $400.00 Rock Island Arsonal. I'm thinking that I may look at one of these, but then again... I'd hate to buy it, then realize that I should have bought the SR1911. There does seem to be mixed reviews on the Ruger though... everyone that has the RIA seems to be happy. What say you? (I hate that phrase, lol)
  18. +1, and 2, and 3, and I think 4... there may be more. My reasoning is because they cycled flawlessly through my LCP. I guess I got carried away and bought them for my LC9, .38 Spl S&W 642 & Model 10, and my S&W Model 65 .357 Magnum. They also come in the same weight that I shoot in target rounds, so I "believe" there shouldn't be any surprises if I ever have to use my weapopn in a self defense situation. It must have been one of my OCD moments... but I feel comfortable with my decision.
  19. I'm wanting a full size 1911, in .45 acp and there are MANY choices! If you were in the marlet to buy one, what would you choose and why? I'm personally leaning toward either the Ruger or the Remington. Ruger, because I like Ruger for their reliability, and Remington because I've actually held it and, well... that's all it took. I know I need to go out there are see which one I like and hold and shoot as many as I can, but like I said... there are many choices. I'd just like to get a concensus as to what you like so I can narrow them down a little. Uses would be of course, shooting outside, in the range, and whatever. I'm not planning on carrying it right now, as I've got more than a few carry weapons. Thanks Charles
  20. Heading there tomorrow... Hope to meet a few of the veterans myself. I know a guy that was at Okinawa and Iwo Jima both, but he's way too frail to go. I wish that I could take him. I'm sure he'd enjoy it. I have another WWII friend that fought on the Russian side of the war from the day they entered the war, to the day it ended. He was a tank commander, as was my grandfather... Both of these guys are great and it is always an honor to be around them.
