  1. Looks like it's made quite the transformation! Great job.
  2. you may have seen my thread on TGO long guns about my long and exhaustive search for the best way to mount a light on this gun for me....Decided this was the way to go. "Buy once cry once" as they say. It would have been easy to just get a light mount and put on any hand held "tactical" led light, but I wasn't comfortable knowing that these lights weren't rated for the 12ga recoil. I need this light to work always, since I'm defending my home with it. But you're right, it was a pretty penny, but a lot less than retail...thank the monetary gods for internet shopping!
  3. Hello everyone! This is my first shotgun that I bought last month, and I have finished what I have called "Stage 1" of mods that I have wanted to do to it as of tonight. The purpose of this shotgun is mainly home defense, with some fun target shooting mixed in. So I set out with trying to keep things simple ( K.I.S.S ! ) Mossberg 590 9-Shot + Hogue 12" LOP Stock + TacStar 6 Round Side Saddle + Surefire 623LMG Cell phone pictures incoming! Edit: Had a friend shave off some of the bayonet lug. I won't be using it so I have no qualms about this. The light bezel no longer barely hits the bottom of the bayonet lug when sending the pump forward.
  4. I won't be able to make it to this one (working late) but anyone who is thinking about going should definitely go! It was a good time for sure.
  5. Great looking gun. Simple, I like it. I'm in the process of building my simple 590 right now.....
  6. That might as well be a big pile of GOLD with the way ammo is right now! Great stuff!   Is it all good to just throw loose rounds in one of those ammo cans? Right now I have mine in the boxes in the ammo can...
  7. Wish I could make it tomorrow, but I have to be at work late. Next time guys!

    FNS 9

I have an FNX-9, and I love it! Hope you like your FNS. I feel like you will.
  9. Thanks for the update on dates! And sbcman, as far as the best time to drive, I suggest as soon as possible after 1pm. Rush hour traffic starts stacking up as soon as 3pm, and between then until around 630pm it's just s parking lot. ( This has all been in my experience. )
  10. Ah okay, thanks for the response. How has the light held up to the recoil? While doing some research, a lot of people don't recommend hand held lights to be put on shotguns because of the recoil beating the lights up. Do you take it off when you shoot the gun at the range?    Thanks for the heads up, I'll look into this brand!
  11. Once again thanks to the guys who put this on. I had a blast at my first IDPA shoot and met some good people, I'll definitely be back for more!
  12. No rush, thank you! Thank you for the pictures! One reason I want to go with the CDM gear mount is that I love the way it looks. One question though, how do you activate the light? Do you use your thumb? Or just click it on and leave it on? It seems to be a long way away from the pump to reach with your thumb. How close could you move the mount to the pump?
  13. Updated the first post with my narrowed down choices and some more pictures. Thanks again for everyone's help so far.
  14. I also have an FNX-9, and I carried it for quite a few months IWB as it was my first handgun. I have since upgraded my carry piece to a Shield, but the FNX is still the gun I shoot best and most accurate. It fits my hand very well also and shoots very well.
  15. You know, I've seen those lights and always wondered what make and model they were. Thanks for the link!        Thank you! I just wanted to get an idea of what the shadow cast by the mag tube and barrel looked like with the light under it. I'm leaning more towards just saving some for the complete surefire fore end....but it's impossible to find pictures of the light pattern!
  16. Thanks oarsman! See everyone there!
  17. Does it cast a shadow being under the barrel? I've heard people saying that having a light under the barrel will put a shadow right over the top part of your target, which is bad because this would be the face of the person you are trying to identify. Do you have any pictures of the shadow cast by your light?
  18. How many rounds did you guys use for the shoot?
  19. Just checked the magpul forend, it was just announced with no date set on release. And nprgunner, how hard is it to install another forend? That ergo was one that I was considering. Are the rains uncomfortable when holding the gun? I feel like they would be a little bit considering all the edges and corners compared to the factory forend.
  20. Thank you both for the replies., and that pic helped out a lot. I didn't know you could get a pressure plate for the tlr. Something I need to look into now.
  21. Yeah, I had the same experience when I bought my first gun two years ago when I turned 21. Dove into the pistol world and now I have a very slippery hold on what's going on in there its exciting to dive into this new domain of shotguns. Always learning is something I'm very willing to do and something i enjoy.
  22. Thanks for the reply Carter. Do you know specifically which cdm mount? There's a few different options on their website and no mention of heat shields.
  23. Does anyone know if there are lights that have a little bit of a longer tube? I just thought that might help my short thumb hit the tail button in case I wanted to mount one on the left side of my gun using a laserlyte tri-rail mount.
  24. Glad my thread coule help some more newcomers to shotguns. In my short time owning one, I've learned that what seems like a pretty simple weapon system is actually a little more complicated and can confuse some newbies like myself, but once you start figuring it out things start falling in place. Now to just find a way to mount that light...
  25. Sometimes I luck out and get a new Hickok45 video, those are great to clean guns to.
