  1. That is one of the reasons. Another one is that you can bet that local and State LEAs have had an ongoing plan to mitigate such nonsense since they first decided to defrost Al Sharpton from his cryogenic capsule to participate in this sideshow. Although that part of Florida is densely populated it is nowhere near that of LA, and most of the occupants of Central Florida wouldn't stand for such nonsense. At most any riots would be contained to the low income neighborhoods they start in, to which the police would just cordon off and let them destroy, causing tens of dollars in damage. They did this is St Pete a long time ago and the cops just let the rioters have their hay day until they ran out of things to burn.
  2. Well I would agree that all pistols have the ability to be accurate, but some are easier than others..... kinda like cheating. One of the fundamentals of pistol marksmanship is trigger pull. If that step is made easier by design then the user should be more accurate; in theory. I used to be forced to use a 92. I was very accurate with it when I was fresh. If I had a long break from the range (like a month or two) my muscle memory suffered. When I'd make it to the range it would take me a couple of warm up mags to get back in the groove. I went a year without shooting my 1911; no warm up required. Point is I require less practice than with DA/SA pistols. Trigger pull is one of the biggest factors that affect shooter accuracy, and it's also one of the fundamentals most ignored.
  3. The PD Chief resigned? I thought he was temporarily stepping aside citing himself as being a distraction. I don't understand why the focus is on the Police Chief since one of his detectives wanted an arrest; it was the DA that didn't want to prosecute. Translation: go find more evidence or shelf it.
  4. Same here. I've had a lot of rounds downrange from G17, G19, P226, 92/96; I'm always more accurate with a 1911 and usually quicker getting the first round downrange... This is with a pro timer. I'm pretty close with a Glock on time though. I attribute it to trigger pull. My trigger pull sucks on DA pistols, especially going between DA and SA. Its inconsistent and messes with my muscle memory. Trigger pull on a 1911 is the same every pull and very light. It's the biggest reason why I like Glocks, and so long as you take the slack out of the trigger as you're presenting you can be as quick and accurate with a Glock as a 1911.
  5. nope, I read the transcripts released by Sanford PD. The media lies; is that supposed to be some kind of profound revelation?
  6. No. There will be protests, maybe some car burning but nothing like the LA riots.
  7. CBS broke the story weeks ago claiming the time matches up. Is it true? If you read the post of mine that you quoted you'll see that I said I don't know. I don't believe anything on the news at face value no matter which side is presenting it. Calm down a bit. You seem to want so badly that I am exactly opposite opposed to you or something. I simply believe that Zimmerman started it. That's all.
  8. Just because she has reason to be bias doesn't mean her account isn't true. The same could be said about Zimmerman; if he did do something wrong wouldn't it benefit him to lie in his statement to police? If her account jives with other evidence they have it'll hold plenty of weight. I don't think this case is going to hinge on one person's testimony or another's, but will be on the totality of evidence or lack of evidence.
  9. Lester, to answer about the "gated" community aspect of this case, it was a misleading representation from the press which I interpret was to stoke the racial aspect of this; "Man shoots black youth in gated community." Maybe not everyone would make that leap, but many would. I used to live in Sanford about a half mile down the road from this place in another "gated community." Just like this one, it was just a complex with key card access. I was far from well-to-do at that point in my life. The location of Twin Lakes is right next to a major mall and the interstate that goes east/west through central Florida. Due to the high speed avenue of egress and the existence of the mall it makes it an attractive area for low level criminal activity. It's almost a requirement for keeping those complexes gated in that area to keep the riff raff out, but it doesn't make it fancy as the media presents it to be... Understandably there are certain connotations that come with the term "gated community" and I believe the media has used that to their advantage.
  10. Orange County is right next door to Seminole. They were able to find a jury that wouldn't convict Casey Anthony despite the media circus that went on for ALOT longer than this.
  11. The initial report in the news was that she was on the phone and records verify that. Is it true, I dunno, but just trying to play Devil's advocate for those that immediately accept some media accounts and reject one that differ with their assertions. I find it a lot easier to look at all of them as suspect.
  12. I still don't see how we would accept a second hand account of the shooter's perspective as fact, but disregard the young girl who was on the phone with Martin at the time as lying for her boyfriend.
  13. I wasn't gonna say it, but I was thinking it.
  14. You've had no problem "armchair quarterbacking" a dead, unarmed 17 year old so don't start this veiled mudslinging. How can one substantiate that anyone is a coward? Is it possible? Probably not. I would call the 9/11 high jackers cowards, but others might say they were brave for facing their deaths. My opinion is that Zimmerman is a coward. I base this on his phone call to 911; he sounds like so many mall ninjas I've encountered over the years. Those folks are usually cowards. I also think he started the altercation, which would make him a coward by default if he began an altercation whilst knowing he has a pistol to back him up.
  15. Yep. If someone is stealing your stuff you should have the right to stop him. Doesn't mean you should be able to kill him, but if he decides to use force you should be able to meet that with force.
  16. A round to the pelvis might not kill the attacker but it will definitely put him down.
  17. If homicide investigations began and ended on the initial police report then we wouldn't need detectives. Apparently there were enough inaccuracies that the PD sought to have him charged. The DA deciding not to press charges doesn't mean Zimmerman is cleared of wrongdoing. It means that he isn't confident he can get a conviction. That translates to the PD gathering more evidence.
  18. No it would be just fine if I was investigating the shooting. Police make assumptions/theories, then try to prove and disprove those assumptions by gathering evidence. I never condoned getting a rope and letting him swing.
  19. No one was screaming for help on Zimmerman's call to police. You are absolutely putting words in my mouth. Read your last two posts. The ONLY tape I've ever spoke of was Zimmerman's call. That is the only one that matters to me.
  20. Noooooope. You keep trying to put words in my mouth just because I disagree with you. I challenge you to find any post of mine where I reference a 911 call from anyone else than Zimmerman. I never knew whether it was Zimmerman or Martin screaming for help; I still don't know that and neither do you. I don't believe anything reported in the media at face value. The media misreports and witnesses lie, embellish and remember poorly. My assessment was based on Zimmerman's call to 911. If I was investigating this shooting that would be such a huge red flag pointing in the direction of Zimmerman instigating the altercation.
  21. I never said that either. I base my assumptions on facts I already know to be true. The 911 tape wasn't manufactured and neither was Martin's dead body. Those two fact nuggets beg a very big investigation... one that should be under a microscope.
  22. I never said that either. I guess I'd rather be alive and face manslaughter charges than be dead. Yeah, if I started a brawl and the other guy pulls a gun I'd have no choice but to shoot, but that doesn't mean I get off scott free if I contributed to the escalation.
