  1. 10 business days; not including weekends.
  2. My grandfather served there during the war. He stayed in and retired as a WO4 a few decades ago. I don't remember him ever sharing stories with me until after I got back from my first deployment to Iraq, but all his stories were about girls in the drinky bar. The only combat story he ever told me was about some dumbass N. Korean sniper who engaged him and some buddies a few months after the armistice was signed. Guess he didn't get the memo!
  3. These measures serve as a deterrent. For big events like this where so many people are packed into one place, drinking and fired up I can understand taking steps to mitigate risk of someone using a weapon to harm others around them. Besides, I'm not pulling my gun in a crowd of 60,000 people anyway.
  4. I run through there often and obviously don't carry when I'm doing that. It's a pretty safe park due to it's location near a main road and the fact there are constantly law enforcement in that area. I feel pretty comfortable there without a firearm, but wouldn't be caught there after dark. When there is a big event like Riverfest I don't even worry about not being able to carry because there are so many police and other law enforcement spread out that it's very safe and controlled. Not to say that something bad couldn't happen, but if I pulled my pistol out in such a scenario it's likely I'll get shot by a police officer who mistakenly identifies me as a threat.
  5. It's hard to imagine life before boresnakes.
  6. I was flipping through the channels and saw the "Zombie v. Vampire" thing and initially thought it would be awesome. I started watching it and decided it was not awesome, and that the host (former SEAL) had surrendered all dignity along with the Medical Doctor serving as an expert. It was like watching a conversation by a bunch of 10 year olds on the playground be acted out by grown men. With that said, zombies would totally win.
  7. I've felt for a long time that the American spirit that valued freedom so much is giving way to Americans valuing security more; both physical and financial. We are too quick to create knee jerk policies which don't address the problem, but instead make people feel more secure. This keeps politicians in office and the easily manipulated masses happy. Restricting blades doesn't solve anything, but it convinces the public that steps are being taken to prevent crime even if it's not. The willingness of Americans to continue to surrender their rights for security is putting us on the path to be like Europe in the next few decades.
  8. I went down there for the state fair a few years ago and it was awful. If there was ever a time to be carrying for self defense it was there. I wouldn't ever go again and certainly wouldn't recommend anyone with children go.
  9. Not all soldiers on Ft. Campbell are combat arms super-soldiers.... there are a lot of "soft" targets wearing a uniform around Clarksville. But you're right that this is fishy sounding. It doesn't sound like normal behavior, but I don't know if this took place in a regular neighborhood or some of the more dodgy ones here in Clarksville.
  10. I was thinking, I don't know if I would even report this unless I really, really needed medical attention.
  11. I bought my Marlin 30-30 from Walmart 13 years ago and I still love it. Not too expensive and a great rifle... zero complaints.
  12. Yes. I think the court of public opinion would disagree if this guy would have smoked these chicks, but the law would be on his side. Even if they weren't heavily armed, pepper spray and a hammer is a deadly weapon in the hands of an 8 year old. Certainly 3 adults (male or female) working in concert to commit an unprovoked attack within the victim's home with these tools would suggest to me that murder wasn't out of the question for these girls. In my hands my 1911 only discriminates between threats and non-threats. It treats each threat equally regardless of race, gender, age, economic status, political affiliation or religious preference.
