  1. None around here, but I have gone to M'boro, but the schools there have sold out.
  2. I was shocked that Walmart's plants were more expensive than Home Depot and Lowes!
  3. This year I totally forgot to get seeds started for plants for the garden. By the time I remembered it was way too late. Went to Home Depot today to get a few plants: maters, peppers, etc. The prices were ridiculous! $5.47 for a tomato plant? Geeze Louise! At least seeds were still fairly cheap . . .
  4. I cannot remember when; maybe 5 - 6 years ago some conversation was around creating a law that if someone was thought to be mentally ill in any fashion, that they would have to be seen by a mental health professional before being allowed to buy a firearm. All of us in the mental health profession made it clear we had no desire to work under such a law. First, a person, even the most mentally ill may have clarity for a short time during an interview. Second, a true mental evaluation would be expensive and time consuming. Third, my liability insurance is high enough; if we had agreed to provide such services I'm certain companies would have stopped providing coverage. As for me, I would never agree to serve a client; liability is way too high.
  5. Your point is well taken. It begs the question of the creation of a registry that would have prevented the purchase of firearms. It would need to be able to link to a Form 4473. The question on the 4473 regarding mental health issues is nebulous: "Have you ever been adjudicated as a mental defective OR have you ever been committed to a mental institution?" There is a wide, wide latitude between being found mentally incompetent on one end of the spectrum or having been committed to a mental institution. In the middle of that continuum is severe depression, personality disorders, paranoia, and schizophrenia. The difficulty with each is that a person may present normal in one moment, and a half-hour later reveal troubling symptoms.

  7. Many years ago my dad, cousin, and I would jug fish on Center Hill Lake and would catch really large catfish. We would fillet them and do just as you did; bell peppers, taters, onions, corn, spiced it up and put in on the grill wrapped in aluminum foil. Man it was good!
  8. Perfect! Thanks for the info. You are so right; cooking by time means nothing; temp is more important.
  9. When you say hot and fast smoke, what temp do you use and for how long?
  10. What I bought yesterday was Atlantic Sockeye
  11. This sounds fabulous! Look forward to trying it. Thanks!
  12. Bought one of those slabs of salmon at Costco today. Looked up a recipe to smoke it on the Pit Boss. Did a salt and brown sugar dry brine for about 3 hours (supposed to be 24 but I didn't have that kind of time.) Washed the brine off after about 4 hours and put it on the smoker "low and slow" for an hour. IT WAS FANTASTIC! First time I've ever smoked salmon before and it will definitely not be the last. Do any of you have any good rubs/brines/smoking ideas for fish?
  13. Last year I had a solid black hummer with one tiny red dot on its throat, and he was tiny,
  14. Time to replace some light bulbs . . .
