1. Yeah my finger couldn't keep up with the trigger.  I can tell how people could end up bump fire with it unintentionally.  The BC 1.5 was okay, but still had too much muzzle rise. Switched it out to the JP comp and what a night and day difference.  The BC is more of a flash hider/comp combination muzzle device and more for military application where you may care about flash signature.  The JP comp is by no means a flash hider and does a great job of directing the gas to the side with those two large ports and four smaller top ports.  If you are standing to the side of it, you definitely feel it in your chest.     The felt recoil is straight back into my shoulders and I can maintain sight picture with a mag dump. The Burris XTR is good. I don't have much to compare it to but for the money, I don't think you will find better glass. The 1x give quick target pickup. I paid 575 shipped for it in Calguns used. And that included the fastfire3 and PEPR mount which I turned around and sold for 225.
2. Thanks.  Yeah, love the trigger.  Its pretty damn fast.
3. http://youtu.be/tyEtOeCijdQ   Heres a little video of some shooting.  I'm still playing around with the buffer/gas to get it where i want it.
4. Nice.  Looks like you didn't have any issues with the Rainier billet set and the MK1 SMR.
5. Took the rifle out and worked on getting the Burris zeroed in. I don't do a lot of distance shooting so I don't know if this is good, but think I could have gotten a little tighter grouping with a little more magnification. The 4x with the donut reticle is great for close range. I'm still playing around with the gas/buffer/springs/comp so I'll post some video of some shooting once i get it dialed in. 6. The tolerance between the barrel nut and rail is so tight that you don't even need the two slide clamps.  You could remove the two screws and run without it.  The two main screws that go through the barrel nut hold the rail on very tight by it self.
7. Thanks guys.  I was debating on a Salient or WarSport LVOA, but their lead times were like 8-12 weeks so I decided to do my own build.
8. Thats it for now.. 11. Here she is. Still have to order the spring kit for the silent captured spring to fine tune it, but its basically done. I may try their buffer and spring to see which one feels better. BUIS down the road and I still haven't figured out which weapon light to go with. Probably the Inforce WML and thorntail offset combo.
12. Well, here are the result. They did an awesome job and did it in less than 24 hour turnaround. The machining work is excellent. They removed minimal amount of material to clear the tab. The machined part is covered up by the tabs so its barely noticeable. Their sharpie skills needs a little work though… \ Overall, I am very pleased with the result. I would recommend these guys for sure. 13. Just got the call that they got the machining done.  Looks like I'm taking the rest of the day off.  Fingers crossed.
14. Black sharpie…  :pleased:   No they are going to machine only what needs to be to allow for the locking tabs to slide over the upper.  So the machined areas should be covered up by the tabs.  I was planning to get the rifle coated down the road so it should be okay for now.  Im not going to be swimming with it in salt water and bashing it around.
15. haha, yeah i was pretty well set on the rail :)  The place is called National Precision Machining Services in Franklin.  They do a small jobs and big jobs and actually have done barrel work (fluting, threading, shortening etc) and machining for Franklin PD and individual like myself.
16. Well I took the plunge and dropped it off at a machine shop in frankln to machine the corners

22. yeah I saw that after I encountered the issue.  DOH...
23.   I know.  I was just showing how the upper is supposed to slide into the rail so that when you screw down the locking tab screws, they tighten against the side of the upper.   The barrel nut is what holds the rail in proper alignment.
24. I checked their website at the product description….Our SMR MK1 is designed to fit the M4 Carbine and all mil-spec AR-15 variants.    Doesn't say anything about billet uppers.. :(  I should have done some more googling…..
25. The upper and rail is mated, but this is without the barrel nut.
