Sam's my gunsmith as well and the best there is around here. If you dont wanna make the trip to Gallatin you can bring it by here. He's in here a few times a week. Right now his turn around is about 2-3 weeks considering the holidays and him traveling back and forth to New York. In case some of you didnt know Sam for the past few months has been busy building, actually hand fitting all of *******(insert big name company)'s new line of 1911's that will be introduced at the shotshow.

well I guess thats what I get for useing my head and not google, although I think I made my point. I still call BS on even 330. You have to understand Sig still has quite a following as well, so does the Springfield XD and H&k. So I guess time will tell. Btw, Bubba my appologies for my being part of highjacking your thread I was just trying to give my input when the thread deviated from its original thoughts.

500, really??? Not..., sorry but those figures are very misleading. Last time I checked I thought there were around 1500-1600 law enforcement agencys nationwide, so what your saying is 30% of this nations police carry the S&W M&P??? Sorry but Im very politely call bullshiet.... ;-) I can only think, off the top of my head, 10-20 agencys that "ISSUE M&P's FOR ON DUTY CARRY" Smith is useing fuzzy math... "approved or adopted" The key word is "approved"!!!! Doesnt mean they have switched. Most dept's have approved several different guns for some kind of use, it might not even be approved for "on duty" use. Most of those are for "off duty" by Dept's that dont really care what you carry off duty as long as you qualify with it. Those same dept. will allow their officers to carry a high point or keltec as well as numerous .22 cal pistols. Our very own Metro Nashville Police Dept "approves" the use of the Keltec 380 and Smith and Wesson Revolvers, but that doesnt mean anything. Again, fuzzy wuzzy! This is from S&W's website. "To date, 570 domestic law enforcement agencies have adopted or approved the M&P for duty use while 251 domestic law enforcement agencies have approved or adopted the M&P15 rifle." Hope it clears things up.

Fyi, these will probably be available in Feb at the earliest. Some will love'em, but honestly I think i'll stick with my 3rd generation.

Guys im not saying one guns better then another, all I know is we have sent our fair share of M&P's back to Smith. And no its a ton better gun then the Sigma, hell they cant even be good boat anchors. We have had this discussion before, this gun is no more then the old Kimber design they didnt want anymore. Smith & Wesson hasnt came out with their own semi auto designs in what 20-30 years??? I simply dont have any faith in any of their recent semi autos, they are cheaper copies of original designs by other companys like Glock, Walther, and the latest Kimber. Find me someone thats gotten 10 thousand rounds, hell wait... lets start with a thousand out of an M&P without a problem. Some of the M&P's biggest supporters here on this board have already sent theirs back to S&W for warantee work. Anyone that knows me will tell ya, I'll sell any of you whatever you want... but i'll also be brutally honest about a guns quality too. We will all know for certain one day. Maybe i'll be wrong, only time will tell.

At 1st I was very weary of that gun... but now I love mine.

S&W just takes their time... and if your getting an M&P, and you shoot it much, you will for sure use the warranty :-) Sorry David...

what load in 41 will outperform a comparable load in 10mm???? Well lets see, now im not a reloader guy, but I have been doing this stuff for about 25 years or so and I have stayed im more then my share of Holiday Inn expresses in my life. So lets compare apples to apples.... velocity(feet per second) and energy(foot pounds)!!! 175 grain Remington loaded with the same powder, out of the same 4in barrel. velocity(feet per second)......... energy(foot pounds) muzzle... 50 yards... 100 yards~~~ muzzle...50 yards... 100 yards 10mm: 1290 1141 1037 649 506 418 41mag: 1250 1120 1029 607 488 412 There you have it... apples to apples and oranges to oranges 10mm thru the same amount of barrel, same bullet grains, and same load out performs 41 magnum... period.

1st and formost I'll take Col. Jeff Coopers opinion over any F.B.I. guys any day. Im not buying the grip size thing, the guns were talking about back in the day, and even now were really no larger in grip size then the 45's today and the high cap 9mm's and 45 single stacks back then. Now there was recoil issues with the agents, and the FBI report clearly concluded that its recoil was excessive in terms of training for average agent/police officer competency of use and qualification. So in short, it was the "girly men" and female agents were the ones having problems withem. I find its kinda funny how the FBI and others cried about the recoil and "grip size" of the 10mm's but the standard duty gun back then was the 357 magnum Smith's and Colt's with about he same recoil and grip size. So basically the same people that cant handle the 10mm cant hang with a 357, 41, 44, or 45lc either. Now talking about ballistics and stopping power, even with the 10mm medium loads(Winchester, Remington, Federal) exceeds 357 and 41 magnum. The original FBI load was weak compaired to whats on the market today. Get the 6in Glock hunting barrel and your getting really close to 44 magnum, around 100-200 fps, and in some cases equals it with hot loads. All in all its to each their own I guess. I likem, hell I love'em and can handle them just fine. If ya cant, then I guess you will wish ya had one when Gentle Bens eatin ya!!!

10 mm rocks... But I guess it depends on your need. If your carrying it for CCW then it can be overkill. If your wanting it for home defense, truck gun, camping or hunting theres not much better. I have deer/boar hunted with a 10mm for many years and it cant be beat in a semi auto platform. I personally have 2 Glock 20's with the factory 6in Glock hunting barrel and one S&W 1006. I love them all, but for everyday carry its usually a 380 and my 2nd gun 357/40/45... depending on the day. The reason the FBI got away from the 10mm was their female agents and the girly men of the bureau couldnt handle the recoil, it wasnt durability of the gun.

all I might add is I keep FedEx in business with all our warranty shipments to S&W, Ruger, and Taurus. Never in 18 years have we had to send one back to Glock, Sig, or H&K.

Closed circuit to HCP Instructors:
GLOCKMEISTER replied to BigPoppa's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
its gotta have approval from the state, years ago the NRA offered to do it for free and they said... NO!!!! It was going to have Gerald McRaney and some progun chick in it... and would have probably rocked but they squashed it. Theres changes coming, but right now Im not so sure if they are going to be better. -
lol, actually it has happened more times then you would think. A Metro PD officer, which I wont name, dropped his in the can... and he wipped it down, but he forgot to take the fireing pin out. Water got in the fireing pin chamber and froze... thus a failure to fire.

hey to each their own, over the years I have heard all these rumors about Glock, and when the dust finally settles it has been my experience its never been "the guns fault" there has always been a contributing factor... True Example: dropping the Glock in the toilet and not cleaning it then going outside in 10 degree weather and shooting a few hours later... yes the gun had an issue, but whos falt was it? True Example: Leaving the bore brush attachment in the barrel and fireing the Glock, yes it exploded... but it wasnt the guns fault it was "dummy error" True Example: Officer drops Glock and shoots himself while trying to catch it, yes he hit the trigger. Again not the guns fault. Now im not saying they are perfect, but I like the odds and im sure vegas would too that again... "it wasnt the guns fault".

I tell all my students to go ahead and file for the $5 duplicate card when they make their original application, just so this doesnt happen.
-
If its such a sure thing its the guns fault then someone needs to chime up and put their money where their mouth is.... :-)
-
when its all said and done you will find out it wasnt the gun at all, but either ammo or something stupid the deputy did. Book it, anyone wanna place a friendly $$$$ wager on it? Let me know if ya do, and yes it called putting your money where your mouth is.
