  1. You never find a candidate that you like completely. We'll learn more about her over time.

So far, from what I know about her, I like that she is pro-gun and anti-corruption but dislike that she is pro-life and pro- teaching Creationism. If she turns out to be too far right, she will turn off a lot of potential crossover voters. For now though, it looks like she has pretty much solidified the party base and convinced a number of folks to support the team who might have stayed home or voted for a third party.

  2. I made a sandwich with some of the leftover pot roast. Delicious!

Took some of my Roma tomatoes, split them and just drizzled on some olive oil and sea salt. Also delicious. Truly vine ripe.

Today will be something very simple - I think. Probably another sandwich and some linguine with pesto. Now off to a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast.

  3. Some good replies here. Lots of these folks I've never heard of. Have to go dig up some recordings.

I've just found much of the Goodman style gospel music to be monotonous and sometimes depressing. Pretty much Cokesbury Hymnal stuff with more theatrics. Much of the "new" gospel is the same, just with a heavier beat and often not well written.

I'm looking for well-written music that doesn't just come out and tell you that inless you are "saved by Jesus" that you are going straight to Hell without passing "Go" and collecting $200.:)

  4. But when you read the sum total of the thread, a reader can get the impression that some people/businesses are flat out complaining about having to "deal with" transfers. I am simply suggesting that it's probably better for you as a business - if you feel it is not worth your time - to just kindly say you don't do them,

I suspect that dealers would rather not do them. Not much profit there for the work. But I'm not sure just refusing to do a transfer is good business either. Obviously high transfer fees anger customers. It probably is better to just say no to transfers than make a customer feel the dealer is trying to rip him off. It's a no-win situation for the dealers. If I was a gun dealer, I'd hold my nose and charge 20 bucks for it, smiling all the time.

  5. so I tried it as a middle of back version, basically moved the clip as if it were a LH IWB. works great, just a little hard to "install" the holster and remove. Now when you have it as an MOB holster and sit in a car, ouch!

I really don't know anyone who has tried small of the back carry that used it very long, but I'm sure there must be lots of folks who use it. One problem we have seen around here is that about all of the butt shootings happen when re-holstering the pistol with the holster in SOB position. Just another thing to think about.

  6. If you extended that logic to other major natural disasters then over half of this great nation ours would be uninhabitable. You couldn't live on the west coast for earthquakes, forest fires, and land slides. The plains would be out because of tornadoes, and the gulf coast has hurricanes.

I don't have a problem with people living in tornado alley, or on a river flood plain, or earthquake zone, or fire area or wherever. But I have a problem with people choosing to live there and then expecting other people to pay to help them out when the disaster happens.

  7. I'm not sure this fits the bill, but you might like it anyway (particularly if you like James Taylor).

http://www.jimcoleonline.com/store.htmsee how much like James Taylor he really sounds, also click on "You've Got a Friend".

Thanks, He does indeed sound a lot like James Taylor. I've been a Taylor guy since the 60's.

I guess I'm looking for someone who may be religious, but that isn't the entire focus of their lives.

    It's hard to refine.

I'm looking for folks who are into religious writing and maybe performing but who are really good writers.

  8. OK...This is a weird subject for me. I am definitely not a Bible thumper. I'm barely a Methodist

I'm looking for music of a religious nature that is not entirely and overtly religious. This is the song that doesn't start by telling you that you are a sinner bound to burn in hell. It describes a situation that you might fit into.

I'm definitely not looking for music that talks about being washed in the blood of the lamb.

I'm looking for gospel music that sneaks up on you.

    Examples are:

    Ghost Riders in the Sky

    Long Black Train

and my absolute favorite: The Brothers Four : The Waves Roll In

In short I'm looking for religious songs that are not overtly religious.

I am looking for religious musics that you don't immediately recognize as religious.

  9. Maybe the campaign banners should read Palin/McCain! I think it is great that people are more excited about the VP than the Pres candidate.

Yeah, that is odd. Actually, I've agreed with McCain on a bunch of stuff over the years that most of you don't like. I've disagreed with him over issues, but I've agreed a bunch more. I think Palin is FOS over abortion, but I really like her veto about gay stuff based on Constitutional grounds. She does have at least some intelligence, as opposed to most fundamentalist folks.

I'd really like to see an actual constitutionalist in the Executive Branch. She looks like the best possibility at this point.

  10. FOH (Force on hand) may be be one situation. Utilization of that force might be another situation.

Point 1 - We tend to wimp out of the proper treatment of looters. Bad PR.

Point 2 - I didn't know we had so many people in the know here on TGO..........

  11. Around here, great playing is just normal. You can wander down to the old log house (Anderson Townhouse) in Blountville every Friday night and hear super old time and bluegrass musicians for free, the way it should be heard - all acoustic.
