  1. I recently purchased an XD9sc and am contemplating upgrading the sights for low-light/night firing. How does a boy decide what kind to buy/install? I have read several of the posts regarding this issue here on TGO, but I have no personal expertise. (Read: confused) I will appreciate any comments or suggestions on the subject.
  2. Finally picked up an XD9 sc today. Thanks board members for all the helpful advice.

  5. I am also relatively new and have learned much from the contributors to this forum. Welcome.....
  6. jackdog, Thanks for the input. How do you go about that training? Does it require removal of sights?
  7. Again, thanks for all of the quick/good advice. I already liked the look of the C.TAC for super concealed and the Infidel for semi-concealed carry. Any information or opinions regarding these specific products. I should purchase an XD9sc in the next day or two so I would like to get set for the future.
  8. Thanks for the purchasing sites. Any suggestions on holsters?
  9. Thanks for all the input. XD9sc it is. Now I have to decide on the right/fair price. I intend to purchase new so what seems 'right' for an XD9sc?
  10. Well, I fired a box of ammo through an XD40 sub-compact today and came to a few realizations: 1 I liked the sc better (used full-sized mag) 2 I do not like .40 3 I need lots of practice Now I am down to decision time - I know I want 9mm but need to decide on 3" or 4" model. I am leaning towards the sc.
  11. Tungsten I am planning to rent a 40 tomorrow or Thursday and fire a box through it to test; however, the XD40 available at the range is a sub-compact. I am leaning towards a sub-compact anyway so I figured it would serve as a good test. If 40 sub works for me I am sure a 9 sub will too.
  12. I actually fired an XD9 Service on Sunday and liked the gun quite well. I believe this is the model/calibre I will purchase in the near future, if I can find one reasonably priced (looks like they are running 500-525 around here). Any additional thoughts on holsters/carry method?
  13. Thanks guys, your opinions basically confirm my thoughts. Glad to get more veteran advice.
  14. I am looking to purchase my first pistol and I also intend get the carry permit for it. I have researched gun choice and have settled on either an XD9 or XD40 (will rent both for test-fire in the near future to finalize decision). I would like some input regarding ease of carry/concealment of the different models. The Tactical appears out of the question for concealment but the difference between the Service, Compact, and Sub-Compact models does not seem that great, especially with the extended grip magazine on the compacts. Any comments greatly appreciated.....
  15. Landogie Thanks much, just the kind of information I wanted.
  16. GhostDog and Landogie, Thanks for the additional info on class and range possibilities in the area. I have not engaged any shooting activities since I left the 82nd (guess I suffered from range/firearm overload) so I am behind the times concerning all of these issues. I have question regarding purchasing a weapon. From my online research, I believe I am leaning towards either an XD40 or XD9. I have read many posts concerning this line, both here and at XD Talk, and am leaning towards purchasing from this line. My question is this: What local gun shops/ranges etc. carry this line so that I might handle/practice fire these weapons? Also, I have small hands/frame so I am leaning towards the sub-compact models. Anyone have any guidance to offer?
  17. Thanks for the quick, helpful, and warm replies. Len, Thanks for the terminology correction and the suggestions regarding follow-on training. Doubt I could get to Middle TN, but I appreciate the help. Hornet, This forum came up when I Googled "TN gun permit" and a few other similar searches. Marswolf, Thanks for the advice. I have already visited the Packing site and found it quite beneficial.
  18. I found this forum a week or so ago while researching CCW. I am contemplating taking a class and applying for the CC permit. I would appreciate any advice on the subject and would welcome direction toward the proper forums covering weapon/holster choice and up-to-date TN regs.
