  1. He said he was going to give schools the option to have an RSO.
  2. I'm sure that's what it said on the teleprompter :)
  3. That's basically all it is. He had to be seen publicly doing SOMETHING...   now we just wait and see what congress has to say about the AWB.
  4. So... what exactly did he sign? He went over his agenda but didn't say outright what's "happening now".   *edit* woops, didn't see Krull's post.
  5. Seems like the appropriate forum to post this. For those of you at work, catch the speech here.   http://www.whitehouse.gov/live
  6. the Simpsons also did an episode where they banned all the weapons of the world. Then someone got a stick, then a bat, then a bat with a nail in it, etc. etc.
  7. I for one welcome our new liberal overlords!    We all know, each of us is plotting the demise of babies using our big black nasty murder massacre rifles. It's only a matter of time! We should be taught the error of our ways. The government is good and will care for us! They know what's best! So lay ye your weapons down and feel the loving embrace of the liberal agenda. suckle at the teet of tomorrow!!!     Yea, even as a joke I almost punched myself for typing that.

  9. Thanks   Yea i didn't go with milspec for a specific reason other than I though that's what the rifle required. I also didn't realize that commercial was the the default, thanks for the lesson. In this case i'll probably just order a milspec buffer tube online since return shipping and reordering will probably cost about the same.
  10. I got all excited because my Magpul furniture started arriving yesterday.  Tried to change out the buttstock and it won't fit! After a quick search online I determined it's a commercial buffer tube on my supposed mil spec rifle. On closer looking at the mohawkarmory.com site though I notice that they say that the "lower" is mil spec. Tried to contact the owner but no answer.   Anyone else have a rifle from Mohawk and can shed any light on the topic? I ordered everything mil spec because I was under the assumption entire rifle would be that way.   Also, can I just order a mil spec buffer tube and replace it? It would be easier on me than returning and reordering the commercial stock.   Apologies if this is a newbie question but, well... i'm a newbie to this rifle.
  11. I skipped on making a newbie post, so I thought I would say hello. Greetings all from Mount Juliet!   Been browsing for a few days now, seems like a good community. I'm sure I'll enjoy my stay.
  12. I picked up a CZ P-07, absolutely love it. Comfortable as hell, GREAT trigger and reasonably priced (especially if you're looking at H&K's). I have a USP .45 Full Size, I love it.. but it's most definitely a combat gun. Best part about the P-07, I can stil conceal it and i'm not a real big guy.   I don't get why CZ's aren't more popular around here. I was a nay sayer for awhile myself but after firing a few, i'm a diehard now.   *edit* - fair warning, the full name is the CZ p-07 Duty... so be ready for all of your buddies to make "duty" jokes. "So, you gonna go home and polish up your duty again tonight?" yuck yuck....
  13. Yea that makes sense. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some unwritten law that said X brand(s) shouldn't be mixed. I just try to avoid "gotchas".
  14. That doesn't look that bad, good idea with the tape. What's LGO? Sorry, new here.
  15. Do you use a matching MI rear sight as well? If so which model?
  16. I'll check it out on my lunch break, thank you.
  17.   I actually like that riser, doesn't seem to be available anywhere though.
  18.   Thanks, opinions are what i'm after :)   I've looked at the troy buis, they're very nice but from what i've seen they are pretty pricey. As you can imagine, i dropped a pretty penny on the rifle itself, so i'm looking to trying to find that "midgrade" set of sights. I don't want cheap flimsy but i dont want anything forged in mordor either... if that makes sense.   option 3 for me is out, hah. I got shivers just thinking about it.
  19. Afternoon operators,   After chatting with a work buddy who frequents TGO, I decided I would pose my questions to the public and get some greatly needed opinions.   I have been eyeballing an AR15 for years now and likewise being veto'd by the wife for the same amount of time. Due to obvious recent events, she finally said yes. So I did some gunshow browsing and from the limited selection I picked up a Mohawk Armory AR15 which came with a lovely EOtech (can't remember the model offhand, sorry) but no BUIS. Easy fix, I thought! I'll just buy the magpul flipups and be done with it. But it wasn't until closer inspection that I realized I have one of the gas blocks which sits lower than my rear rail.   I know this means no magpul front site because A.) I don't want a riser and B.) I don't want it to melt. So I'm left with the remaining options and I'm not sure which is better.   Do I buy a front sight that's meant for this type of block? My problem with this is that I don't really care for most of them i've seen. Plus they are rather expensive. I'd like to have matching manufacturers for both sights but so far it seems like i'm not going to get them for less than around $180 for the set.   Or perhaps I should pickup a different gas block? I've not actually taken off a gasblock before, is this something relatively easy to do? I'm mechanically inclinded but not thrilled about anything involving a hammer and a bit of luck on my new purchase. But the idea of co-witnessing the EOtech with a fixed front sight is appealing.   Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
