I have been out of town every weekend for about a month. I'm hoping to go test next weekend. In the meantime I've taken all the paint off my snap caps running them through it. Not to mention removing a good chunk of skin from my finger from the grooves on the slide! Those suckers are sharp!

It sucks. Every CZ I've ever touched has been iron clad. Maybe CGW will drop some parts that tune it up.

As promised, I took the compact nocturne to the range today. "I feel very whelmed". That was the description I used to @BigK, since he was there with me (and also brought his P-09c). I want to like it and i'm really hoping that it just needs to break-in, but i'm not thrilled. The most glaring issue for me was that the slide locked back with 1 round left in the mag several times. I did my best to try and track that down and think it only happened with the same mag, but it's hard to be sure. Perhaps i just need to strip down the mags and make sure the followers aren't doing something funky. My P-07 Duty came with a mag that had a wonky follower, so maybe. The trigger shape isn't my favorite. I've got pretty good fundamentals so i ensure i use 3/4 pad on my index. The shape of the trigger seemed to allow my finger to slide across after full pull. In fact, it bit during one mag when my finger slipped. It cut/pinched me to say the least. It also seems to have a touch more recoil than the P-07, so perhaps that's not helping. I also had a hard time with the sights. They're plenty clear but it was difficult to determine point of aim. I kept shooting low. I know that's supposed to be anticipation (dipping as i shoot), but I know better than this. A lot of my shots felt low. I immediately said "that's gotta be me" and loaded up a mag of the same ammo into my p-07. Every shot went exactly where I wanted it. Overall I shot about 250 rounds today. Most of that through the P-09c. Assortment of brass federal, monarch, winchester whitebox and even threw in some garbage tula steel just to see if it would run. I think I had perhaps 3 incidents with the slide lock back overall mixed across the brands. @BigK had several light primer strikes on some monarch ammo. Quite a few of them, but he feels confident it was the ammo. However, he also experienced the same last round lock back on his pistol which is extra concerning. The P-07 Duty ran like top though and so did my P365 Tacops. So while I really want to buy myself a green dot to put on the P-09... that's not happening until I ensure it's gonna run. It's going to get a good cleaning and maybe some parts polished. I've got a good quality boresight that'll help me figure out POA before I head back out again. I'm not giving up on it yet, but there's 0% chance that I will carry it in this current state.

I've been a P-07 Duty owner since release. I trust it more than any pistol I own. Just picked up the P-09c this past week. Not buying the hype and I'm confident that CZ will take care of me if there's a problem. Should get some range time next weekend. No optic yet. I'll share my experience afterward.

I may have commented this in the past, so forgive me if I've already shared this. From my lens CC is a shield, OC is a sword. I don't want to have a conversation about it. I don't feel the need to inform people that I'm armed. In today's political climate I am more likely to have a negative interaction than a positive interaction. Even though I despise the Anti-gunners beliefs, I recognize that they may have their reasons for disliking them. You never know what someones story is. I'm not interesting in eliciting an emotional reaction from someone because I'm carrying in public. It's there if it's needed, nothing more. The lord tells me that I should be meek, and that's how I live my life. If someone thinks that's not "alpha" or "manly enough", well they are entitled to their opinion as much as I'm entitled to ignore it. Likewise I feel that if anyone wants to OC, go for it. It's perfectly legal in TN and you should do what makes you feel the most comfortable.

Would love to know where @TGO David I'm in desperate need of "movement" due to our similar careers. Good on your for encouraging others, but even more on you for taking that step to get active.

Somehow I completely missed with the rest of this response. I really like my index, but I've had BOTH base stations die. Valve has replaced both free of charge, even outside my warranty period....which tells you they know it's a problem. But hey, they're making good on it. I've heard they were making a new one, but I don't follow the hype because VR gaming is a dead end. There's only a couple of actual triple A titles and 500,000 cheap cash grabs. It's the 3D TV of gaming. If you aren't doing a simulator, it's not even worth it. I've never bought a flight stick, so I tried DCS with waggle controls. It's just weird. Occasionally I will watch a movie in big screen or play mini golf with a buddy, but that's about it.

Need and want are mutually exclusive for sure. I totally get wanting the big dog and knowing you're at the top. You buy once, you cry once. But unfortunately Nvidia is notorious for undelivering on volume.

Yeah I wouldn't trust the used market. I feel like the leap from 4070 to 4090 would be sizable though? Maybe I'm wrong? It would also be a lot cheaper than a 5090 that you likely won't fully utilize with gaming. (Total assumption) Bear in mind it's not all GPU, what CPU are you running? You don't want to bottleneck your performance because the proc can't keep up.

Nice setup. I'm not sold on the 50 series yet. I currently have a 4080 super OC'd pushing a 34" ultra wide at a very steady 120fps at 3440x1440. I also have a valve index VR (under a lot of dust sadly) and the card exceeds it's refresh rate. The card gobbles anything I throw at it with max settings, ray tracing, etc. I have two close friends who spent about 5k on their rigs and bought 4090s. One of them works in 3d animation, so it's great for him. The other is a gamer and he's got buyers remorse as the card is complete overkill.

Agreed. Right now it's an infant. In fact it's more machine learning than AI. Effectively a better Google search. AGI is when it will start getting interesting. Especially if it links up with quantum. But, we're likely a ways away from that being mainstream.
