  1. +1 on Aikido and it's usefulness in controlling yourself and an attacker. There is a great Aikido dojo in Nashville off of Wedgewood. I've been training there for almost a year and a half. Bushin Dojo - www.bushinaikido.com Great instructors, very practical. A few LEO train and teach there, too.
  2. I am going early, too. What time does it open? I have need to get in and out quickly to get to Aikido training... I'll probably be back to hang a little in the afternoon.
  3. I thought I saw a billboard for that. I'll be there bright and early to see what is available. Thanks everyone!
  4. Maybe 40 minutes this morning in Mt. Juliet. One more for Mccain/Palin. My wife can't vote - she's Canadian... I wore my "If I voted for a President because he was white, you would call me a racist" shirt.
  5. Where can one find bulk ammo besides gun shows? I want to stock up on .40 caliber... Thanks!

    Best Pranks

We'd send new guys on tour looking for a left handed hammer or crescent wrench... Even got one poor fellow to go "get me a bucket of steam" for the fog machine... He tried for over an hour.
  7. If anyone wants one, pm me- I live in the Nashville area in Old Hickory and would be happy to meet up and give you one. I'm not concerned about making money on it, but I also wouldn't object to anyone wanting to throw a few bucks my way to help cover the cost. I'm having 20 printed up and some are promised to people but plenty are available if you want one.
  8. OhShoot - Who makes that holster? I'm looking for an IWB for my XD-40 SC but I haven't seen that one anywhere.
  9. As are most people I've talked to. Just an informal poll to see if I should get more than a few made. Thanks for the feedback. Shirts should be here by Tuesday or Wednesday... PM me if you want one.
  10. I didn't say I was anything or did anything. You missed the word "if" on the shirt. I hate racism in all forms. That it goes unchallenged when it comes from a particular segment of society is wrong, too. Like I said before, I think it's worth saying.
  11. Better? I'll be wearing it because I think someone needs to say it... Anyone who is offended by the shirt probably falls into that category themselves...
  12. I agree totally. I almost wish the views and positions of each candidate up for election could be presented with out seeing their face, race, gender, religious or political affiliation - at least initially. There is something to be said for the way they present themselves, charisma, etc, but it seems that too often the real issues get overlooked due to all manner of prejudices...
  13. IMO, FD in it's current context is liberals attempting to legislate that their views must be presented to an audience that doesn't want to hear them. Their blatant bias gets plenty of non-reciprocating airing on almost every major network. I have been all over the world for various reasons and, like the starter of this thread, I am grateful I live in a country that allows freedom like we experience here - even the freedom to be stupid, uninformed and still allowed to say what you want
  14. That's great! I'll have to use that very real example on my next pro-bama waiter...
  15. Just curious. I may have some printed. I am getting mixed responses... - most agree but hesitant to wear for fear of reactions...
  16. That could be fun. Where do you normally go shooting?
  17. I carry an XD-40 sub-compact and didn't even think about buying one with night sights. Any suggestions/tips on specific sights and where to purchase or have installed? I live in Old Hickory/Hermitage.
  18. I'm in agreement with you - I'm just getting used to carrying and probably over thinking the "what if's"... Thanks for your insights.
  19. One concern I have is this: Say something bad does happen - a bad guy opens fire in a church, a good guy with a ccw draws his weapon and shoots the bad guy. In the confusion of people running for cover and freaking out, people know someone is shooting and then all that law enforcement or other armed citizens see is someone standing there with a smoking gun. Wouldn't it be hard to tell the good guy who shot the bad guy from the dead bad guy?
  20. When does bloated bureaucracy EVER make sense? I think you may be correct on the phone call reasoning. Congrats on receiving your permit! I just received mine, too.
  21. I've been reading on this forum for a few months - Thanks for the great info. I'm Danny, I live in Wilson County and just received my HCP in the mail yesterday. I took the advice I read on here and called in last week and they issued it that day. I carry an XD-40 subcompact. I train in aikido and love it. I have a company that make guitar effects pedals and studio gear. I'm into the entrepreneurial thing... Thanks again for the great resource here.
  22. Got it today, one week after I called, played nice and they said they issued it that day. Nine weeks total. Again, I'd highly suggest calling... I submitted paperwork in Wilson county. Thanks again for the great info on this forum.
  23. This is my first post - Thanks for all the info on this site. I took the advice in this thread and called this morning. Tomorrow would have been 8 weeks. Low and behold they tell me it will be issued today and I'll see it in 7-14 business days... So I really do think that calling and being pleasant helps. I spoke with Ronda at about 8:30am - phone rang three times, she asked me how long it had been since I submitted my paperwork, I told her, and then asked how she was and we chit chatted about the nice weather. Then she asked if I could hold for a minute, and about 30 seconds later she tells me the good news. Thanks for the advice!
