good lil home defence kit
-
yea, handgun loads barely dent it, big stuf craters it, especially high dollar ammo!!
-
only hornady ammo comes back because it does some serious damage. and the jacket that came apart was from cheap ammo. it is not a normal thing, and they do hang at a little bit of an angle because the chains are welded onto the back or the discs.
-
well....i have had some bounce back...i was 50 yards away and was shooting a 30-06, i was useing some remington core-lock and the steal jacket separated and flew back and hit the 4-wheeler i was standing behind...it dug a hugh piece or plastic out. all i know is i sure wouldnt want to get hit with that even at 50 yards! i did keep it, i should take a picture post it up for you guys to see. i normally use hornady ammo, when i shoot the discs at 50 yards i can hear metal coming back and hitting my truck, so you do have to be careful. the hornady puts some huge dents in the disc!! it's great ammo!

that's a good battle scar! and a nice gun too!
-
i take a can of spray paint with me when i go shooting and paint the disc black, when you are at 100 or 200 plus yards, you hear the TING and see a silver circle where you hit it, it's a lot of fun with lever guns!

no holes in them...just dents. the only one that will put a hole in it is the 5.56 on the 1/2 inch if you are too close. the larger 2 are 1 inch and it just dents them. there is a steel shop across the street from my shop and i got most of it from them. the chains are welded on to the discs and it seems to be holding up great! i have used it a lot and am very happy with it. it is cemented in the ground and it is very stable. the wood works great for sighting guns in on the bench.

i'm working on the picture...i tried to copy paste it but it just shows up as a red X. do i have to use photobucket? when i try to put the picture in it wants me to enter the URL but it is just saved to my desktop. ideas?

this is my new swinging target that i made! the metal discs ate 1 inch thick and the small round one is only 1/2 in thick. it can take the beatings of the 30-06 and 5.56! i use the small one for handguns because the 30-06 beats it up too much. the wood slides in and out for easy replacement and the discs hang on chains that bolt to it so you can remove the chains and disc from the frame for instalation. what i was wondering was if people would be interested in buying them if i made them. thanks picture posted below

forget more pictures of the gun, i wanna see that gash on your thumb!!

i'm shooting out of a super redhawk with a 7.5 inch barrel and leupold 4x scope. i would love to be able to do a 3 inch group at 100yards. my plan is to take it to indiana and deer hunt with it but i havent been able to find any great loads....i'm new to reloading.....since i have some 2400 and 240 nosler bullets i'm gonna try the 21.6 like pie said. how much of a crimp do you do? a light crimp or heavy(half turn)? also, do you get any muzzle flash with your loads of 2400? -
looks like you beat me mama. let me know if it doesnt work out...

i'm working on my loads for my 44mag and my 30-06 right now. so far my 30-06 loads are doing well but my 44 mag loads arent....what have you guys found to work out well for the 44 mag, i have h110 and 2400 typically i'm loading a 240gr nosler jhp. some of the first batches i have made for the 30-06 were less than a 1inch group at 100 yards(4350 and 150gr btsp), the factory loaded hornday ammo was 1.5 inches shooting off a led sled.

i didin't realize there was a 777 magnum powder. do you guys seem to get the same results with different 209 primers?
-
i just got my new thompson encore prohunter and i'm very excited to shoot this gun, it's very nice! i have a lot of hornady SST 300GR left over from my old BP rifle, but what powder do you guys think i should use? 777? i've heard it's clean but leaves a burn ridge where the powder is ignited. what do you guys think i should use?
