  1. I have some bullets ( didnt come in a box) The look like Hornady V-Max BT ( has red plastic tip) They weigh in at 73.3 to 73.4 gr. I weighed 50 of them.

They are not listed on Hornady site and Im looking for a OAL to set and some powders to load with.

Should I just run them as 75 gr V-max?

  2. Ok your in a jet traveling 1841 MPH ( or 2700 FPS) and your AR will shoot its bullet at 2700 FPS (or 1841 MPH) and you take a shot from in the plane out of the front of it will the bullet just set in front of the plane for a moment as it will do the same speed? Or will it go way out in front as if you shot it on the ground when your stationary?

To make it easy what will the bullet do as it is going the same rate of speed as the plane?

  3. With the AR15 there are many different caliber uppers that will fit the AR lower. These all run rather well with limitations to the mag and mag-well size.

Then came the AR10. The same AR platform just beefed up to allow the 308 round to fit. To include a bigger mag-well and bolt (BCG)

How about a 458 SOCOM MAG round. I will call it the 458 SOMAG.

This upper could be made and would fit the AR10 or 308 AR lowers.

The image below shows a 308 round on the right to show the length to compare and 458 SOCOM in the middle. The made up 458 SOMAG is the one on the left.

I took a 300 WIN MAG case and cut the neck off. I then did a crude yet small neck size down so it would hold the 458 bullet. A proper sizing die would do much better. I thought of this looking at the way you cut down 223 ammo to make the 300 BLK with a 308 bullet.

Now imagine if someone could make the upper and a bolt to fit this cut down 300 WIN MAG. With the case capacity Im not sure how it would fire but Im sure it would be more than a "Magnum" blast.

Maybe one could even trim the rim down on the 300 WIN MG case to the 308 size so the 308 AR bolt would work.

Ok Im done dreaming.......... But this might be doable or might not.

  5. I picked up a Zeiss 6.5-20x50 Conquest scope and I think I will put it on my Rock River 308 But I may also use it on my 24 in 223 AR.

What mounts and or rings would you use and why?

I maybe looking to swap it between the 2 guns. Looks don't matter just form and function.

here are the 2 guns it will be used or maybe just the 308.
