    LEOSA

I'm retired from Florida and need to qualify. I'm in the Tri-cities area. Does anyone know of a POST certified instructor in the area that might qualify me? I've already obtained the "plethora" of paperwork from the state.
  2. I purchased a Zastava in Florida before I moved up here.  It's a sweet little gun and the trigger can be "tweaked".  It's a bit rough compared to a CZ but, CZ has used the Zastava factory in the past or manufacturing "out sourcing" so aside from the cosmetics, you'd be getting a damn good rifle.
  3. I need to qualify for my LEOSA/HR218.  I'm in the Tri-Cities area.  Can anyone provide me with information regarding a POST certified instructor or local agency that can help me out?   Thanks Much
  4. Chiappa Arms recently came out with the Double Badger in .22lr/.410 or .22WMR/.410.  Wood furniture...no plastic and priced around the $350/$375 range. If I didn't already own a .22 a .22 Mag and a double 20 gauge, I'd probably buy one.
  5. I've had my eye on a Work Sharp knife sharpener at Northern Tool.  I've watched the video demos and I'm pretty impressed.  Has anyone used one? I've got a pair of Kukri's and a pair of Tanto's. I'd just like to find an easier way to keep a good edge on them without exerting too much effort.
  6. Hello:  I wasn't sure where to post this, so I hope it's in the correct category.  I'm moving to the Erwin area and trying to find local gun shops.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.
  7. I'll be moving to the Tri-cities area permanently next month.  Being from Florida, I'm used to hunting feral hogs.  I couldn't find any distribution maps online for hog populations in N.E. Tennessee.  My hunting property is due north of Buladean on the W. side of the mountains.  Does anyone have on information on feral hogs in that general area?
  8. I love single shot hunting rifles, already have an NEF in .243 and 45/70. I'm trying to find out about the Baikal/EAA MP18MN. It's a break-open single shot. They may have been on the market several years ago as Remington/Spartan. Does anyone out there have any experience with them?
  9. It won't fit a laptop but I bought an across the chest sling bag made by Diesel (big in NYC) off E-bay from the manufacturer in China for peanuts. It fits my government .45 and has various pockets for a wallet, pens, business cards, etc. It's O.D. canvas with a little leather trim and works like a charm.
  10. Went up to my property in Unicoi County (Limestone Cove area) in October. While hiking around, I saw several dome shaped structures made out of vines and branches. Are these hunting blinds? They were about 3 to 4 ft. high and about 8 to 10 ft. in idmaeter with an opening at the front.
  11. I recently read that there was a move to include any size shotgun in the turkey rules, including .410. Does anyone know if this has passed the legislation or is likely to? Thanks.
  12. I'm planning on purchasing a sxs 20 gauge this weekend at a local gun show. I need a simple, inexpensive utilitarian gun. I've narrowed myself down to a Spartan SPR220 or a Stoeger Uplander. If anyone out there owns either gun or has done some comparisons, let me know...Thanks.
  13. ONE SHOT-ONE KILL...Patience is the key... H&R Ultra in .45-70 for hogs & .243 for deer.
  14. I'm Rick, I live in Florida but have property in Unicoi County, hopefully I'll be moving there in 4 or 5 years. Shoot a Springer Mil-Spec, H&R .45-70 with an extra .243 barrel. Don't have a concealed permit but I'm a retired LEO and can carry under the LEOSA. If anyone out there is from the Johnson City area, are there any good ranges available in the area?
  15. Hello members! This is my first time on the site. I'm a retired LEO living in Florida. I own 10+ acres in NE Tennesse, and will be flying up in September. I carry Aguila IQ rounds in my .45, they're made out of an aluminum/zinc alloy. Will they be legal to carry in TN., or will I have to switch out to JHP's? Thanks.
