  1. What a steal, thanks for the heads up!
  2. Looking for a local shop that has good quality mosins at a fair price. I'm reluctant to buy offline because you don't know what your going to get.
  3. I love my xds 9mm. It's my ccw and I have ran 500 trouble free rounds through and the trigger has smoothed out quite a bit. The only problem I've had is just recently I noticed some copper or rust inside the barrel that will not come out. It seems it's normal from the melonite process according to guys on xdtalk. Check out my copper fouling thread to see if yours looks like that yet. If not good but if it does its fine too.
  4. All good RED, but it does make me feel like I'm shooting a weenie caliber :( And I do admit that large xds 45 barrel looks a lot better than the 9mm but 45 ammo is so expensive.
  5. I will try that out after next range visit. I've ran enough rods through her the past few days she needs a break... lol I guess I will use the brush it comes with since it nylon. But if you seen this in person I'd say it not going away, it's on the lands and grooves.
  6. Yep I will go synthetic since I can always get better wood furniture later. I've been saving for a few months already but have to get my fiancé an engagement first. If I bring home another gun before that ring you will hear about me on the news.
  7. Alright well I'm pretty sure its rust or some type of chemical etching unfortunately. Got the copper remover and it looks better but there are a few spots that will not go away. This is my carry weapon and maybe I let it go too long without re-lubing. I also left it dirty after firing five rounds because I hit the range again a week later and thought it wouldn't hurt it. I guess I put too much faith in the "glock" like finish. 500 clams and six month of use and I have a rusted barrel. Although it's my fault I'm still disappointed.
  8. I have used only the cleaner but I will try the copper remover next. Oh magical wizard can you make me some special boolits? :)
  9. No accuracy problems except for the ones that are user controlled. Just wanted to be sure it was just fouling and not damaged. I will look into that for my next cleaning.
  10. Hey guys just wanted to make sure this is copper fouling and nothing more serious. I just noticed today on a barrel that I assumed I cleaned well. This is an xds 3.3 9mm and I've only used mpro7 cleaner, mpro7 oil, and brass brush to clean bore. Any ideas? Also about 500 rounds through firearm.
  11. Wow I can't believe that! I was on Powell probably 30 mins earlier leaving walmart looking at the insane prices of ammo, that location is the highest I've seen. My prayers go out to his family.
  12. Now I'm torn between wood or synthetic. Only a 40$ difference. I want the retro feel but to me black looks better.
  13. Great price with the drum but how do you feel about the double finger trigger? Not to sound like a noob but I've never seen that before. And are those underfolders significantly lighter? Also does that stock become uncomfortable after a few rounds?
  14. Thanks for the fast reply's! I plan to keep my first AK original, no extras as long as it has the G2 trigger already installed. I am leaning towards PAP because of the sight issue on WASR is more prevalent. My problem is that I'd be ordering from buds offline so no pre inspection for canted sights ect. I've even read reports of some WASRs having canted gas system if that's even possible.
  15. While researching these rifles I just can't make up my mind. I would love a 1000$ arsenal but that's not going to happen on my salary. Already have an AR and love it but I want an AK before Obama gets em all.
  16. whoa 200? Sounds like you have some free targets if she ever gets you fired up. Just don't shoot the rare ones you can sell those to buy more boolits :)
  17. Like an idiot I've missed the two meets that were within an hour drive, now I'm considering working all night at the plant and driving 2.5 hours straight there after work. What really eats me up is that I seen him and big John leaving in his Ridgeline at the Nashville gun shop a few months ago and could only wave as he drove past. But the visit went well though because I seen a legend and left with an xds.
  18. Although I'm in no one's camp but my own it's definitely a historical object for me. I think alot of people would like to own a rare piece of history from their area of interest and this is no different. Also there have been some good posts but none actually pertaining to the OP. Didnt mean to spark a controversy fellas I will be sure to shy away from areas like this again.
  19. I definitely would not wear it for two reason. One it would send the wrong message and two I wouldn't want it to degrade anymore. By the way nice collection Mr. Summers, update me when you add new items to site.
  20. I can understand that, I'd be for me not a show piece. Although if it was aquired by a family member in the service that took it from one of those nazi bastards it may Change your mind. I not trying to send the wrong signal here I'm just interested in history and war has always sparked my interest. I know I can't be the only person that can't pass up the history channel when they are discussing the third reich.
  21. Just curious as to if any of you gentlemen have or have seen an authentic ring before. Although it was horrible all the pain and suffering the Germans caused I've always been interested in the Nazi party because of their unusual goals and beliefs. But back to the subject I seen an authentic ring a while back and I've wanted one ever since. But they are extremely rare and pricey. If any of you do have one pictures and a small background on the ring by how which you aquired it would be interesting.
  22. I was rested on a bench, no bags just using the table for support. I will concur I'm not a great shot but I was making a good effort to stay on target and follow through but it very well may have been me. As hickok45 always says when the shooter blames the gun for poor accuracy it's usually the other way around. I may bring someone else me and see how they group also.
  23. I've shot both and own a SD9VE. Honestly it comes down to price for me since I don't care for rugers I picked up the SD. I've had 1200 trouble free rounds and still runs well. Trigger is a little tough but as mentioned above but its not horrible. I added the apex trigger not the spring kit. I wanted to reduce pre/over travel while maintaining factory springs. And after 1200 rounds the trigger has really smoothed out. Also have you fired both pistols?
  24. I plan another range trip with a few different ammo types before I make a solid judgment. And I understand I'm using a cheap upper with a cheap red dot and improper grain ammo for a 1 in 7 I cannot expect 2 in groups at 50 yards. I may just get a good quality chrome lined 1 in 9 if my problems persist. I don't feel like fighting PSA for a purchase six months and 400 rounds ago. I will repost here after next outing. Thanks for all the input guys I really appreciate it.
  25. This is the exact upper I purchased. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/review/product/list/id/14751/category/312
