Well it did not inconvenience me I prayed for The murdered officer family and the other wounded officer and the BCSO family.... This action by a felon will affect a lot of lives People should be grateful men and women are out there in the darkness keeping their communities safe.

By pure happenstance I didn't turn on my " do not disturb  " function on the phone.  I woke up to this about 12:30 pm.

I sent up a prayer over this as well.  It is, indeed, sad that this act of madness happened.

This shooter here must be a thoroughly dangerous man.  It's reported that they tazed him with no effect and he hit the woods running after shooting the deputies.

I don't think they have caught sight of him yet.

I'ma thinkin he had a cel phone and made a rescue call and somebody picked him up.

I'd say he is a " dead man walking " now... The BCSO does a pretty good job keeping a grip on the hoodlum class in Blount County, so I'm surprised and saddened by this barbarism. It simply demonstrates what is out there on " the frontier ".

I grew up near this part of the world, know the territory pretty well, and have friends that live around here.  That makes this senseless act of murder and mayhem all the more close to home.

  2. Take a look at Belt Mountain basepins.

Most likely, your crosspin n pin notch has been battered a bit, causing the base pin to back out.

I've used a bunch of the belt mountain pins in my hard kicking Blackhawks.  They are inexpensive and work like a charm.  They use a set screw to hold the pin in. Ya simply can't beat em...

  4. I've long been concerned about the " assassination " thing and it's effect on either side of the political spectrum  here in the US. I think it's God's Prevenient Hand that has brought DWT ( and others ) this far.

I have little doubt that if ole DW were to get a cold, some hackles would come up and some folks would commence ta thinkin, and possibly doin some bad things.

Here's hopin n praying that nothing happens to anyone on the political scene here in the US.  I'ma thinkin the results would be disastrous for all.

  5. There is a " de facto secession " going on in Texas right now.  Others, about abeit quieter ones are going on in other states, both Red and Blue.

The truth is that the Federal Gubmt has lost the confidence of most of the citizenry, and all of em ain't MAGA Republicans n Libertarians.

The result of all this deconstructon of confidence in gubt will flare up as various trouble, no matter who sits in the white house or congress.

We are at the point of state nullification of Federal Law. That's what the Articles of Confederation were all about... Everybody minds his own business on a state by state business, and only united against " commin enemies ".

That's what Texas has done, and they ain't the only ones doin it.

    The " Trouble " thing ain't an " If " it's a " when and where ".

If I lived in a blue state I would move; if a 50/50, I would sure move.

The reason to be armed is clear and to tighten the circle of trusted friends is clear.

That said, I think that things will stay calm in Tennessee outside the usual idiotic places, and we all know where they are.

We are moving back to the " Frontier ".  Stay watchful, armed, prepared, and vigilant.

  6. Lock....

I'm like you.  I think a ported ( or compensated) shotgun is a good idea.  I've got a few friends that use em to good effect with sporting clays shooting.  I'm sure the benefits of recoil reduction are much better with the heavier shotgun loadings...

  7. I'ma 243 fan myself.  Remember, they are a 6 mm 08.  That's what makes em great.  Low recoil, highly accurate.

I'm waiting for Ruger to build a SFAR in 243...

  8. All the handhelds are basically the same power.  Five watts.  There ain't any " superpower handhelds ".  I'm sure the portables n base receivers can be souped up, but ya have to know what ya are doing.

Lotsa folks like the Bofeng stuff, I'm wary of it.  I never recommend em unless ya are broke.  The mainline radio guys are the standard of the radio industry. Bofeng ain't.  Let that sink in a bit and see if ya are willing ta chance em in a serious situation.

That said; I know Lotsa folks who like em, but they are playing with em, not using them in serious situations.  Additionally, I had a " senior " moment, and failed to mention one of the great radio lines, ICOM ( AKA Standard Horizon ).  They own the marine radio business.  We used em everywhere in marine operations.  The " marine band " is a VHF band.  I highly recommend em

  9. I use a VHF radio in my trainwatchin hobby.  Several good ones out there.  I listen a lot.  All the old line ham brands are good ( think Kenwood, Alinco, Yaesu ).  I've owned em all.

The big secret to radios is their antenna.  Do some studying here.  It's easy to find.

That said, when I get uneasy about things I buy ammo.  HEHEHE.

  10. Brother Gaston revolutionized the handgun world.

The bad was he laid to rest the grand old tradition of blue steel and walnut loved by so many of us here and around the world.  The good news is that his " Tupperware pistolas " made everybody a gunsmith, armed everybody at a reasonable price, and birthed a great new generation of ultra reliable, albeit ugly pistolas.

A truly earthshaking and momentus accomplishment for this funny looking guy from Austria who apparently didn't like his family n did like pretty women.

" Rest in Peace Gaston "... You did great things for all us gun affectionados, armed armies, and made " honored retirement " possible for all the grand blue steel n walnut masterpieces who came before.  If that ain't a great legacy, I simply don't know what is.

Saluting leroy... The Gaston Glock memorial orator n affectionado....

  11. What Mista Triple GGG said.

The 357 SIG gives the actual performance that was promised by the 9mm revolution cheerleaders.  Only the 9mm P plus plus can come close, no matter what the " experts " say.

It is inherently accurate and extremely reliable due to the bottleneck design.  I have two of em.

It is an excellent cartridge that simply didn't catch on.

  12. Remember the words of a very famous gunsmith, machinist, and custom gun guy who shall remain anonymous...

When asked: "... Which gun lube do you recommend ".?  The answer:  " Buy the one on sale " .

All this stuff works n works very well.  Do not even take in by the " oil " Snake Oil Salesmen n cheerleaders...

My brother taught me the basics of reloading somewhere around 20 years ago.

Since then, my shooting partner and I have tweaked our load development process for our PRS type rifles quite a bit.

We can develop a load for those rifles very quickly and get great results (6.5cm & 6cm) and do it "cheaper" than match ammo with better results. ...

Mista Rick just excellently articulated the reason for reloading in today's environment... Simply said; it's excellently performing ammo tailored to your specific rifle... You simply cannot buy custom tailored ammo optimized for your specific rifle...

Thank you, Brother, for explaining this clearly n completely.
