  1. I got into a disucssion again tonight with some friends about why I carry. I don't feel that my answers were good enough for them but I tried my best. Let me preface this. Two weekends ago a friend of mine, one who has his carry permit, went shooting. Afterwards, we went to a place called Princes Chicken up off of Dickerson road. Know that part of town, I did not want to disarm and go into this place to eat with out it. ( I was carrying OWB and my shirt was untucked with a jacket on. You could not see my gun) This place does not serve alcohol. They do not take credit cards, only cash. Who knows how much cash is laying around there. When they have an armed security guard sitting up front by the cash wrap, red lights go off in my head. While were were in there I spotted several people in there that were carrying. Maybe it is just because I carry I have become more observant, who knows. We ate and left. Nothing happened. Now on to tonight. Some of my friends point of view is that when you carry into a place like that, you are just asking for trouble. This led to whenever you carry, you are just asking for trouble. To me it felt like they were just uneducated in the topic and they were afraid of guns. I brought up the recent shooting at the nursing home, didnt change their mind. One guy even said I would just lay down. The way I see it is should the day come, and I truly hopes it doesn't, I dont want to be one of those people was caught by "Murphy" and if I need to defend myself, I will. If a guy was to walk in there with a gun, pointing at the cash register for money, I really dont want to be the person he turns the gun on next. Can all of you, much wiser than me, give me any other help in dealing with these guys on this issue? Thanks in advance.
  2. Round in the chamber on my primary and one in my back up. If I had to pull it, I don't want to have to worry about chambering a round and being. unprepared.
  3. best beer you ever had right?

    New GLOCK

No ring, no telling you what to do.
  5. While I want both of those, it doesn't help the wallet. I think I will be getting both in time. I think I will start with the 642 for summer and then move to the 26. I do carry at work and my 19 is on my hip all day, although I felt my kimber getting lonely so I strapped it on today.
  6. I got into a discussion tonight with a friend and we couldnt figure it out. So I thought I would ask smarter people than me. If you go to a church on a Sunday that either has a k-12 school during the week or a church that meets at a public school, can you carry there on sundays? I would assume not but I am not sure. Anybody know the answer?
  7. I am looking at getting a backup gun and I am torn between a glock 26 or a j frame revolver. I like the fact that the j fram can fit in my pocket but I also like the fact that the 26 is the same as my 19.I like them both and I can shoot both of them well. Any suggestions? Which one would be better for concealment?
  8. I wasnt one either before the tour. However after, I completely am. I just wish I could drink it again from the finishing tank every day. The freshest best tasting beer ever.
  9. I just go back from St. Louis and went on a tour that anyone would like. My friends and I went on the VIP Tour of the plant. It costs $25. You start in a room with leather couches and a huge flat screen on the wall. When you go through a tour you get to go to all the areas that normal tours dont go on. You seen the bottling line, the vats, the brewing chambers the hop room, and at the end, you get to drink beer straight from the finish vat at 34 degrees. People, I have never had beer so fresh before. Budweiser tastes completely different when it is so fresh. You finish by going back to the first room with the leather couches and get to try all the different kinds of beer they make and as much as you want. If you ever make it up to St. Louis, go on the tour, it is worth it.
  10. I ended up just packing in my bag for now. We had a private bus. A friend owns a bus company and we took one of them. So no greyhound. I just had the magazine separate from the gun. But we are here now, and my friend is strapped back to my side. I do feel more comfortable now since St. Louis is the #4 city with the most crime.
  11. I am going to st louis with some friends for a bachalor party. We are taking a bus where some will be drinking, which I will be one of those not drinking. My question is should I carry my gun and be fine or just pack it away/ leave it. This will be a trip till saturday. Plus we have to travel through the "Great" state of Illinois (yeah that was a little sarcasm, ok a lot of it) What do you all think?
  12. I do already want a 26, but I need to slow down. As for the Taurus I got $250 for it.
  13. They had about a two cases left of American Eagle 9mm and some 45 and some 40 in stock today. I got 10 boxes for around $12. I think it was a little less since I bought a case.
  14. So I went out and bought a Glock 19 today and a Serpa Holster at Franklin Gun. This gun is so much better feeling than my Kimber (although I still love my Kimber). The serpa holster seems to more concealable that my galco holster for the Kimber. The Serpa had a paddle attachment on it but I don't know. Has anyone out there have a Blackhawk Serpa and tried the paddle attachment? Is it even worth fooling with?

    My new Glock

I went out today to Franklin Gun and traded in taurus 24/7 pro for my new friend, a Glock 19. Doug there gave me great customer service. I got a great trade in and a the glock was at a great price. Because of Doug I will be going back there every time I need a new gun, gunsmithing, or ammo. Tomorrow will be the first shooting. Can't wait!
  16. Since ammo there is really hard to find, and they dont have nachos at most places, I think walmart wants us now to go to the Crackbucks in the store and get a latte while wearing our fanny pack to conceal our gun. My vote is for the chicken. That stuff is GOOOOD! On a side note, I remember my grand dad tell me that when he sold light bulbs, he called on Sam Walton once but couldn't sell him any because he didn't have enough stores. Funny how life goes.
  17. Thanks! No it is not black powder it is shell. The funny thing is the barrels. While they are steel they are a little different. My granddad showed me the difference in each barrel with a coin. One will not let a coin fit down the barrel, it is too small and the other you can just drop the coin down it. Why would it be that way?
  18. My grandfather today gave me a double barrel shotgun that is was his grandfathers. It looks beautiful and I never want to shoot it. I would like to however get it restored because it hasn't been maintained since the last time it was shot, around the 1930's. My granddad has just kept it. Is there someone around Nashville that can work on it that you all would recommend? Thanks Wrangler
  19. Ok now I am hacked off. That lucky guy just gave me a call back and told me that it was issued today and he should have it in 7 to 10 days. Maybe I shouldnt have told him to call. Now he will hold it over me for ever.
  20. My brother in law started that long process we have all gone through to get our permits 3 weeks ago. He asked me if he should call at three weeks to check on it. When I did mine, it took 60 days for them to issue it last year. Should he call at 3 weeks and check?
  21. Thanks for the input. Right now I carry a 3in Kimber every day but I have been leaning toward a 9mm. Are there any downsides to carrying a G 19?
  22. I am thinking of getting a Glock 19 for EDC. Anybody carry one out there? What are your thoughts. Should I be looking at the XD too?
  23. Ok so I know this will stir up so feelings but here I go. I have a friend who just got his HCP and was talking about getting a badge. I strongly disagreed with him and told him if you want a badge so bad why not be a cop? I know many cops who are not be happy when they see one and most of the time, when they pull someone over with one, they give them a ticket. So here is the question. If so many LEO's are against it and you could be charged with impersonating a cop, why just not ban them? Make them illegal and we wouldn't have to deal with them. What does TGO think about banning them?
  24. Well if they are talking crap about you and your store, Then you must be doing something right. That is my thought.
  25. While I am new here, I think we should just give the guy a break. He does have a nice shop. He is just out there to make a living and provide for his family. I know it has been said before but until you go there and meet the guy for yourself, lets not make a quick judgement about him. I have been there and find them to be great people. I went in there with an open mind and didnt make it up till I was there and left. Yeah they dont have as much inventory as other stores, but who needs to in these times? They can just order what you want and not have to stock it and pay for it before it sells. To me that is smart business. The range is one of the nicest I have been to. I bought some ammo there and it was cheaper than going to any place else. His prices on guns were also very competitive with other places. I also took my permit class there a few weeks ago and it was great. Very informative. A guy named Tim taught the class and it was very informative. He went through all the stuff but then added more info. Rick also came in there at time and also added very good info for us all to know. Now I know this will stir up some responses and negative feelings, but I urge all of you to go there yourself with an open mind and give the guy a chance. Dont just judge him and his business because someone else has here. You might be surprised. BTW, I am not a employee of them nor a member there. These are just my personal opinions. You can take them or leave it.
