My first bundle of joy was born on this day in 1987. She and mom were enjoying the beautiful weather in California. I was enjoying the delightfully mild winter in South Korea.
Oofdah. Tough to miss that day.
Though suppose it's better to miss out on the birth than the conception...

Thanks everyone! I'll pass asking the recommendations. My wife and I had over real fancy meal there, she said it was at Cherokee Grill. I couldn't remember the place, but I think she's right. (And I'm not just saying that because I'm contractually obligated!)

Hi all. So my grandmother and one of my aunts are making a road trip to Gatlinburg. My wife and I were married in Gatlinburg, so Grandma has asked for restaurant recommendations.
I'mhappy to oblige, but there are two problems: 1. We were married there a couple of years before the fire, and I have no idea what's there now. 2. My memory is crap anyway.
So, what would you recommend to a couple of ladies looking for a good, no frills, meal? Please keep in mind that, in upper Midwestern Scandehoovian cuisine, butter is considered a spice and that if you really want to jazz up a meal and have the church basement ladies talking about you, you hold the pepper over the pan. (Don't actually add any though... That's just wasting good food dontchaknow...)

I got a 2nd e-mail from TFA just a little while ago telling all about this. While it all sounds good, the actual bill isn't available to read yet. TFA warns that there could be a devil in the details. I am pleased with penalizing criminals more harshly. That really does need to be done.
Politicians say a lot of things. But that don't necessarily make it so. Its got to go through the legislature first. Then they might amend it to death.
Honestly, I'm unsure about Constitutional Carry. While I do fully support our Constitution and love any law that supports our rights. I'm also very aware that there are a great many really stupid people out there that shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a gun.
Every time constitutional carry comes up, I ask people to think about ALL the drivers on the road. Supposedly, these are people who have proved they're safe and responsible drivers. Some actually are...

Do you have any handguns in a caliber that you'd like a lever to keep company? The .44 mag would do for whitetails to about 100 yds...

Ali was great but, I never liked his mouth. I never liked the fact that he converted to Islam either. Kinda like he turned his back on America. He should be remembered as Cassius Clay.
We should all be remembered as we choose to live.
And while I may not understand or like the choices someone makes, I do admire someone with conviction.

The barrel falls off, you say a bunch of curse words, and you miss what you are shooting at. But that’s just a WAG.
And maybe you're trying to come up with a field expedient cleaning rod to push a bullet out of the barrel...

I worked with a young man that told me he was a Jets fan. I told him I didn’t think I had watched a Jets game since Broadway Joe played. He said “I don’t know who that is??”
To be fair, the guy said he was a Jets fan, not an archeologist.
Ooohh!!

Thanks all.
I definitely should have learned to be better about money sooner in life. It's not everything, but it does frequently represent options.
I'd add, be honest with people even if it's not what you think they want to hear. Polite, caring, diplomatic, yes, but also frank and complete. Even if it makes you feel uncomfortable.
A good start: tell another man that you care about him. Look him in the eye and say those words. It might make you squirm, it might make him squirm, but it'll be good for both of you.

I regret I didn’t go watch a figure 8 race before they stopped them. I’ll bet that was entertaining.
Fun for the whole family!
Wife and kids didn't seem to think so, though. For some reason, they kept trying to get out of the car...

Could be. I've heard of some guys going out way under gunned like that, for the challenge.
Bigger brass ones than I have...

Get a couple of rolls and make it hail.
If you do decide to do that, don't.
If you won't take that perfectly good advice, just be sure to unroll those Bs before you start flinging them!

One of the reasons I bought the Ruger LCR 9mm is I already was invested in 9mm and at the time didn't want to expand into another caliber. I think it was only the 5th hand gun I had bought and 3 were .22s. I also have a Ruger LCR .22 and I thought it would be a nice companion revolver and it is. I actually keep think I should buy an LCR in .38 since I have other guns in that caliber now and it just seems like I need 3 LCRs.
I didn't think about ammo compatibility. And I suppose many fewer moving parts, potentially greater durability for very hard prolonged use could be argued.
@owejia, thanks for the info on velocity and energy. It would never have occurred to me to look into that, because "everyone knows", you know? But now I plan to.
-
I think of a revolver in 9mm as giving up the potential horsepower of a .357 and giving up the capacity and slim profile of a 9mm pistol.
What am I missing?
