GunsAmerica: 1,000 YARDS FROM A $500 RIFLE–RUGER’S AMERICAN PREDATOR
DavidCBaker replied to Pete123's topic in Long Guns
Could you enlighten me on that point? Is it an issue of fps from the 6.5 round that wears a barrel more? -
Thank you! I found the Hall and the Pappas rests, but I didn't find the Arnold Machine. Sorry to bother you, but if you happen to have a link, I'd appreciate it.
-
Can I ask what the manufacturer is of that aluminum rest your rifle is sitting on, next to the plastic Tipton one? I've never seen that and I'm curious. Thanks.

I need to get another FN handgun some day. The only FN I have now is the FiveseveN but it's more of a short rifle and kind of strange to be in the handgun category. Your gun is beautiful!
-
Ain't that the truth! I understand that sentiment first hand.
-
I haven't had a chance to test that yet--my suppressor hasn't gotten approved yet. Paperwork is in process!
-
I thought some of you might be interested in seeing some images of a barrel swap for the FN FiveseveN. (I have a threaded barrel for the PS90 on the way.) This first shot has the two barrels side to side. I was curious to note that the spring rotation is opposite. The weight is exactly the same: 4.0 oz. This second shot shows a peculiar indentation (where the pen is pointing). Not sure the significance of it: The barrel is threaded 10 x 1mm RH, shown here without the thread protector: And then here with the thread protector mounted: It also comes with a adapter that converts it to a ½ x 28 RH for the Silencerco 22 Sparrow or Spectre II. Here it is unprotected. The knurled part on the barrel is what's used to attach the adapter, and then there's a matching thread protector (that is not shown in this shot, but is included): Here's the visible part of the barrel, installed: The barrel comes from EFK Fire Dragon (US Made).

I'm trying to join at Strategic Edge. At the moment I'm number 169 on the waiting list, so unless there's a lot of turnover I'd guess that I'll be waiting quite a long time.
-
Hah! I've not gotten into reloading. I'm afraid it would be another excuse to spend money. Though it does strike me as the perfect thing to do at night when watching a boring TV program.
-
I like how it functions and I like the form factor better, but it doesn't feel nearly as well built. I haven't had it long enough to know how well it'll last. The beam spread is definitely wide (vs. narrow), so be sure that's what you want.

It's the Maryland Gun Works Pro Sight Tool. It's remarkably well made and easy to use. In addition to the main tool, you need a slide adapter that fits your particular model.
-
Been having fun getting this thing ready as I wait. I started by swapping the barrel out for a threaded one. Today it was time to swap the rear sight out for a Trijicon RMR. It was actually quite easy to get the original sight out, but quite a bit of extra work to get the RMR bracket back in its place. My sight tool won't fit over that particular bracket. Anyway, I built a second piece to make it work. Now the waiting game continues. I know that the P30 isn't cited most frequently as the ideal host, but I have one already so I might as well try it out. I do love the handgun.
-
Thank you, sir. I kind of thought that but figured I'd make sure while I could still return it.
-
Hi again, folks. Been gone for awhile but I'm going to start hanging out again after work has settled down. I have a question about a new Trijicon I just received (from Optics Planet): model TA11B ACOG 3.5x35. In this picture you can see that the light gathering tube seems a little dirty--almost like it has some sand in it or something. Everything seems to work fine and maybe the plastic tubes all have that look, but is this what your new one looked like? Thanks in advance. https://retake.smugmug.com/Other/Attic-Picture-Box/i-CJj4FNz/A

Question on Selling a Handgun Across State Lines
DavidCBaker replied to DavidCBaker's topic in Handguns
Got it. Thanks! -
If I sell a handgun as an individual, to an individual in another state, I know I need to use an FFL. But do I have to have an FFL in TN ship the gun to an FFL in another state, or can I ship it directly to that FFL in another state? Thanks much.

I think he was using irony.
-
When I started this thread, I didn't yet have a P30, but now that I do, I'd have to agree.
-
Well, John, it looks like you and I will have to join the support group on our own.
-
No. You?
-
I've heard that from more than one person.

I keep all the stats in a spreadsheet, so it was easy to glance over it today and note a few things. It's kind of interesting, to me, anyway. Round Capacity: Ruger LCP, Rohrbaugh 380, Kahr P380, Seecamp .32 (6 + 1) to FiveseveN (20 + 1) Weight, Loaded: Ruger LCP (11.4oz) to Springfield XD(m) 9mm (36.6oz) Measured Trigger Pull: Ed Brown Executive Target (3lb 12oz) to Seecamp .32 (11lb 15oz). The Browning Buck Mark isn't far behind, at 4lb 5oz. And the Savage 12LRPV is at a numbing 1lb 4oz. Length of Barrel: Seecamp .32 (2.1") to Browing Buck Mark .22 (5.5") Width: Ruger LCP and Seecamp .32 (0.8") to Springfield EMP 9mm, FiveseveN, and H&K P30 (1.4") Anybody else track stuff like this?
